As one of the two newest (and still single) additions to Legendary Securities, Liam is trying to find his place in the group. When he has a chance to join a team to work with an elephant sanctuary, his dreams of jobs in exotic places take flight. Alas, the elephant sanctuary is actually located a two-hour drive away in Texas. Following the death of their brother Keith two years ago and their father’s extreme physical and emotional decline, twins Lilianna and Brianna are now running the sanctuary. Someone has begun sabotaging their donation web page and making mischief that has resulted in cut feet for their elephants and dogs. Logan (Book 6, Logan’s Light) has known the family for several years, and his father, Gunner, has been a generous donor. When Lilianna shares her concerns with Gunner, he contacts Levi for help. Liam and North, the other new member of Legendary Security, are sent to the sanctuary to assess the situation and become involved, as you would expect from reading the Heroes for Hire series, in some very interesting dynamics in keeping the elephants and the family members who love them safe. Great read!
As this book opens Brandon and Kasha arrive and get to say hello to Liam before they ship out again with Rory. Liam and Nelson however are heading to an animal reserve in Texas. Levi has gotten involved at the request of Gunner, who was contacted by one of the daughters of the owner.
There’s a lot involved here and the only one who isn’t pleased about their appearance is Brianna. Lilianna is the one who called Gunner and her sister doesn’t want them there at all.
It seems at least part of the key is Lilianna’s father, Jim Howell, and the condition he’s in since his son died in a fire. The visit they make suddenly becomes extended, with Gunner providing a new specialist and lawyer to Lilianna. It seems the family lawyer has been in the process of doing the paperwork required for Brianna to have general power of attorney. Lilianna just has POA over her father’s medical care.
Now as much as these events get interesting right from the start it’s the events of the next morning that will have you turning the pages faster. With the discontinuing her father’s medications he wakes far more lucid than he’s been in months.
As more people show up in her father’s room Lilianna and Liam begin facing the challenges of the day. Lawyers, Specialists and Gunner get more involved and a visit from Brianna is just what you’d expect.
I couldn’t put this book down as this all unfolds and the attraction Liam and Lilianna have for each other cumulates to something more.
Complete with a bit of a conversation that North has with Ice as the lead in to the next book, North’s Nikki.
An elephant sanctuary for a back drop, wow so unique. I love these former military guys who are now part of a security team. Liam to the rescue on this one with North. Something dodgy is going on at the sanctuary. Is it an inside job, or is someone out to destroy them?….it was so much more.
This author keeps my attention the whole way through, the suspense, the drama, the twists made for a very entertaining story…oh, and the love.
Another fantastic book. Like Seals of Honor, these guys are finding their keeper mates as well. Lily is having problems at her santuary and calls Gunner for help. She has a twin sister who makes her life unbearable. They are polar oposites. Her father retreats after his sons death and Lily as to step in. In walks Liam and North new to the group. Another book with betrayal, lies, hate, love and an unusual problem. Loved the book and facinated by the animals
Love Dale Mayer…have all his books. Exceptional story teller.
Amazing series
I love all Dale Mayer’s books. I highly recommend them.
Liam’s Lily by Dale Mayer
Heroes for Hire Series Book Fifteen
Liam O’Brien has been at Legendary Security for about a week when he and North are sent on assignment. He thought he’d be traveling to exotic places for jobs—not two hours down the road and still in Texas. Although, an elephant sanctuary could end up being exotic.
Lilianna Howell’s life had changed so much in two years. Her brother died in a fire, she lost her dad, mentally…not physically, after Keith’s death. And then her twin sister did the unimaginable, most selfish thing ever… And now, someone is sabotaging the sanctuary and its donations. She never could’ve imagined how her life would change just by telling a family friend she needed help.
I really enjoyed this story. Action, suspense, who-done-it, and of course…romance. And so real life as to how things can happen right under your nose but if you aren’t looking for it…you never see it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
While I normally adore anything that Ms. Mayer’s writes, this one didn’t do much for me. I really struggled to keep reading this one. They don’t normally take me three days to read but this one did as I kept putting it down. The only character that I connected to was Liam. His is an absolute sweetie. I didn’t get Lilianna at all. Her character totally frustrated me. Like when Liam stepped out of her father’s room to take a call. She expressed her feelings of not liking that. North explained it all perfectly well and she agreed. When Liam stepped back inside the room after the call, Lilianna again expresses her dislike. Come on!!! She was also so naive and a complete push-over and then always feeling guilty. She wouldn’t stop and learn from her mistakes.
As to the romance, I really didn’t feel a connection between the two of them until the end. Yes, I love having a story to go along with the romance aspect but there wasn’t hardly any romance to this book. I am thrilled that North is getting his book next though.
Oh, Yeah!
Liam is such a sweetheart until he’s not. He can be tough and unyielding when faced with challenges he is good at meeting.
This story has the perfect storm; twins, one soft, loving and good, one selfish, haughty and bitchy. Then it has an oh, so sour, ex-wife! As the story unfolds, I couldn’t read fast enough. Mysterious and maddening combined to make a complex and fantastic storyline. I loved the element of the elephant sanctuary and the descriptions surrounding their needs. I guess anything can be done in Texas!
I loved the dynamics and differences surrounding the twins which make for quite a mess. The drama and medical issues with their father are very much unfortunate real life circumstances in many families today. The good thing is, they don’t have Liam and Legendary Securities to help unravel the danger and deceit surrounding this family.
This story is heartwarming and exciting and has a fantastic HEA! Excellent job! I loved it!
Reading is my great escape and a way to relax. Dale Mayer has a way of pulling you into the book and living in someone else’s life for just a little while.
Lillianne Howell is a biologist and is currently working for her Dad’s Elephant Sanctuary and is having some problems that she thinks are only to do with the online donations but when Liam and North arrive and start asking questions and the answers quickly point in a totally different direction she is astounded and heartbroken. BTW she has a twin sister, Brianna who is the total opposite of Lillianne.
Liam O’Brian is a retired Navy Seal and newly employed by Legendary Securities who is sent out his first job to seek out problems going on at End of Days Rest Home, the elephant sanctuary. Which quickly turns into more that anyone had imagined.
There is a quick electric attraction between Lillianne and Liam which quickly turns into something the two want to explore it further once the fund raising problem is settled.
There is lots of family dynamics involved when it is discovered that Brianna has seemingly been impersonating Lillianne and doing some really shady things including but definitely not limited to creating a situation where her father is being kept drugged at his assisted living facility while trying to manipulate legal issues regarding End of Days Rest Home.
This book has action on every page which will surprise and amaze you so grab yourself a copy, settle back and get ready for the ride. Dale Mayer never ceases to entertain.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC of this book.
Another favorite book from Dale Mayer.
This one is Liam’s story, the new member of the Legendary Security, he was expecting to be sent to somewhere exiting, but it turns out he was sent to an Elephant Sanctuary close to home, where crazy complicated family affair full of conflicts and betrayals happen. Oh yeah it sure has very interesting and intriguing story and plot. I can’t put it down from the first chapter, the action is not as much as I expected, but with all the drama and all the angst and frustrations, I really don’t mind with less action.
As for characters, I loveeee Liam and Lily, love the progress of their relationship, the sweet attraction from the beginning and their banter put a big smile on my face. They’re so perfect for each other.
If you love sweet suspense romance, you’ll love this one.
I absolutely love how Dale Mayer takes an item that is relevant and wraps a book subtlety around it all the while providing romance and suspense. In this book we go to an elephant sanctuary, I say we , cause hey I hopped the plane with Liam and North. Lily fears there is sabotage at the sanctuary and reached out to Gunner who enlisted Ice and hence our boys. There is so much more than that happening. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and appreciated the build up of romance. Dale Mayer made me hate a character or two. I received this arc from Booksprout and the author.
I LOVE these Heroes For Hire books! They give me a way to escape reality and take me on crazy, exciting adventure. And Liam’s Lily takes me on a new one that I instantly got lost in and one that had my heart thumping madly inside my chest. It was thrilling and romantic with just the right twists and action that kept me on my toes! Liam and Lilianna are wonderful characters and just seemed to be made for each other. They reminded me of two perfect puzzle pieces that fit with ease.
The book was a really great read. I finished it in little over a day and I fell in love with the page-turning plot and the delectable romance and the heart of the story. It had plenty of suspense and action that added an extra beat to it that was just as appealing. Perfectly done!
Liam’s Lily gets a SENSATIONAL FIVE GLORIOUS STARS!

Dale delivers you a fairly fast paced story, that is set in a beautiful, private Elephant sanctuary. The closeness of the elephants to their carers is so special… and touching. Makes you smile out loud as these gentle giants show how they show care. Captivating!
If you love page turning drama, intrigue and love solving a mystery – then Dale Mayer delivers with LIAM’S LILY. When trouble really starts to develop, you can always count on your team, your friends, your family to have your back when you need them most. A well written story, highly recommended for those that love a military based hero but love solving mysteries and the intricacies of family even more. This can definitely be read as a stand alone book but like any good series, there will be recurring characters from previous books. If you haven’t already… you may want to start your journey at the beginning of the HEROES FOR HIRE series, for a more developed understanding of the character dynamics.
Another fantastic book. Like Seals of Honor, these guys are finding their keeper mates as well. Lily is having problems at her santuary and calls Gunner for help. In walks Liam and North new to the group. Another book with betrayal, lies, hate, love and an unusual problem. Loved the book and facinated by the animals.
