I love this series, and this is the book that kicked it off. I gave it four stars only because the first volume, like many Space Opera stories, can be a little confusing. The premise is very, very original, and the story is consistently interesting, with outstanding characters. The story really takes off in book two, Caliban’s War, but this one is …
The first in the Expanse Series; exploring what happens in the universe, maybe 2 centuries from now, when space travel and colonization happen and an ancient alien virus is set loose; the mystery is whether it was intended to be unleashed purposely or unwittingly, without a true awareness of its capabilities.
One of the best scifis I have read.
I really enjoyed the story. Great characters and plot.
Added so much more to the enjoyment of the t.v. show. We get to know the characters much better.
The first 6 books in the Expanse series, of which this is the first, are excellent. Space Opera, but extremely well written Space Opera, and deeper and more nuanced than you’d expect from the genre. And with multiple twists to keep things fresh and keep the reader interested.
If you’ve watched the TV series, and think you don’t need to bother …
The first book in The Expanse Series captures the imagination by throwing the reader into the middle of a murder mystery the depths of which involve global governments and trillion dollar corporations. Our unwitting protagonists are lovable and relatable displaying the characteristics we all wish to have within ourselves. Once you get into this …
If you watch “The Expanse”, read the books that are the basis for the show. Wonderful works!
This is the first in the extensive Expanse series by James S. A. Corey. Immensely entertaining far future space opera that takes place as humans have populated every corner of our solar system. Wonderfully imaginative, I recommend it highly.
The Expanse book one. Read it and the whole series. You’ll love it.
This was a good popcorn type space opera 🙂 Looking forward to the next ones.
Wow! I picked this book up because it was recommended to me! Great series, and the TV show is amazing too. Complex characters and lots of action and world building.
