Lieutenant Eve Dallas puzzles over a bizarre suicide bombing in a Wall St. office building in Leverage in Death, the latest in the #1 New York Times bestselling series from J.D. Robb… For the airline executives finalizing a merger that would make news in the business world, the nine a.m. meeting would be a major milestone. But after marketing VP Paul Rogan walked into the plush conference room, … into the plush conference room, strapped with explosives, the headlines told of death and destruction instead. The NYPSD’s Eve Dallas confirms that Rogan was cruelly coerced by two masked men holding his family hostage. His motive was saving his wife and daughter–but what was the motive of the masked men?
Despite the chaos and bad publicity, blowing up one meeting isn’t going to put the brakes on the merger. All it’s accomplished is shattering a lot of innocent lives. Now, with the help of her billionaire husband Roarke, Eve must untangle the reason for an inexplicable act of terror, look at suspects inside and outside both corporations, and determine whether the root of this crime lies in simple sabotage, or something far more complex and twisted.

I love the “In Death” series!
A fine entry into the series. The usual non-stop action and the usual cast of characters, along with two very bad villeins. A new emphasis on Hollywood awards, via “The Icove Agenda” being up for Oscars. Altogether enjoyable, as all the J.D. Robb stories are. Top flight.
Great read.
This one took a little getting into which is rare for me on a J.D. Robb book. It didn’t have the usual action to me that her prior books have but still a good read. Love the repeating characters and how they all intertwine.
As always, excellent thrilling reading!
I love this series and can hardly wait for the next one in the series to come out. I was hooked from the very first one I read.
I continue to enjoy J. D. Robb’s books. The books are well written and all have fully developed characters. I have read the In Death series from the first one. The characters are believable and show a continued growth in their development in the world Robb has developed. I recommend these books to readers who love mysteries or romance.
Another great entry in Eve and Roarke’s stories. If you haven’t read any others of the series, go back to the beginning, the evolution of the characters is awesome!
This book was hard to put down. I enjoyed entering into the world of Dallas and Roarke once more.
I love the characters of Eve and Roark! Great series
It begins with an inexplicable act where the marketing executive of a major airline walks into an important meeting with soon to be partners of another company to finalize their merger and detonates a bomb, killing twelve and injuring many others. Lieutenant Eve Dallas and Detective Delia Peabody soon learn that there was much more to this suicide bombing.
I really enjoyed this insidious case where it was dogged police procedurals to figure out the who and why. With the help of the team and Roarke (there was definitely a reason for him to help), Eve methodically assembles the clues and probable suspect pool to resolve the mystery. This is the type of story in the series that I love the most. It’s all about solving the case under serious time constraints as the killers aren’t done. And, there was an absolutely delicious secondary storyline that made this an even better read. I won’t spoil it for you but just know you’re going to love it.
While I enjoyed the story, it did drag in places where I felt there was a bit of repetition but only enough to keep it from being a 5-star read. Otherwise, this was another enjoyable installment in my most favorite series.
As with all the “In Death” series, this book continues with Roarke and Dallas in another murder to solve. This book does not disappoint in any way. It is one you do not want to put down until you finish it. From the first book in the series to the current book, they just keep getting better!
I enjoy the new world feel of these adventures. Interesting ideas about the future. I really like the main characters. Good mysteries
J.D. Robb never fails to produce a great book. Can’t wait for the next one!
I love all Nora Roberts/ J.D. Robb books, this one was a little harder to get into because of the insider trading/stock going up or down talk going on. Even when Eve talked to Roake about motive in the killings, I found it a little hard to understand. The characters soon took on a life of their own, and with all the talk about the Oscars, and who was going and who wasn’t and the case moving along, I couldn’t put the book down.
I love this book and the author. Read all of the author Death series and I love the main characters. Like the romance between Eve and Roake
As usual, Nora Roberts as JD Robb has pulled another winner out of her hat. Eve and Rourke jump off the pages in this futuristic “who done it” murder drama. I thought the beginning a little slow and not her usual style of jumping right into the deep side. By the 4th chapter, events picked up and I could not put the book down until I finished it. The ending surprised me as I am usually pretty good at figuring out who the culprit is. But the twist at the end was well worth the time it took to get there. Great read, as her’ s usually are. Would highly recommend.
I love all of J.D. Robb’s books, I don’t usually like books set in the future but these are close enough to our time that you feel right at home. The killers are always complex with intricate set ups that have to be unraveled. Worth reading if you like a good mystery with great characters.
Maybe it’s the new publisher that’s bringing the newer books down, but I’ve noticed a decided quality shift since the change. This installment was no exception, being more of a 3.5 star read that I found was worth rounding up to 4 stars.
The plot was actually interesting this time, and somewhat kept me guessing! It was nice that Eve needed Roarke’s actual expertise this time! I liked knowing what was going on with Nadine’s books and movies, and actually seeing Eve’s reactions to it all! However, it all felt a little glossed over. Parts of the case seemed to just jump ahead, and it didn’t make sense to me as I was reading it.
All things considered, it was a good, entertaining book, but it could have used a bit more polish to be better.
Did not read as normal. Was not impressed hard to keep reading.
