I met Luna Marshall when I was seventeen. She was a force of nature that I wasn’t ready for.She was gravity and I was caught in her pull.Powerless while she held me in a world I was desperate to escape. They say you never forget your first love.I believe they’re right.I’ll always remember the sound of her laughter. The way she whispered my name when I touched her, and the taste of her on my lips.… when I touched her, and the taste of her on my lips.
I’ll remember everything.
Including the look of pain as I walked away.

Letting You Go is Book one in the new romantic suspense series Stone Lake. It will continue and will conclude with Book 2 When You Were Mine written by the talented author Jordan Marie. Highly recommended! Letting You Go is Luna Marshall and Gavin Lodge emotional romance story! The plot is very intense and full of drama, mystery, suspense, awesome characters, hateful characters, high school love and end with a cliffhanger. Yeah, I know but we know Jordan, she writes such amazing stories with so much passion and great endings. She haven’t disappoint me, so I know that the next book will be outstanding. So, I can’t wait for the conclusion of Gavin and Luna’s story!
Luna Marshall was the homecoming queen and came from a good home. She was known as “Icebox” by all of the boys around whom she never let get very far with her as she was in love with a certain boy who never seemed to notice her.
Gavin Lodge has always kept to himself and all he wants to do is leave the small town, Stone Lake, that he has grown up in. His father is a drunk and he hates his brother Atticus. The only bright light is the girl he has been watching for all these years, even though she is too good for him.
Finally Gavin and Luna talk and the chemisty between them is clear but will their differences tear them apart? When it’s clear that there are several people trying to keep them apart will they be able to rise above or is it all about letting go?
This was such a great book and I loved it from start to finish.
Luna was a great character and I loved that she was strong and not about to give into the pressure that certain boys were applying on her. I loved her friendship with Jules who was the complete opposite of her. Luna appeared to have the perfect home life but she could tell that something was going on that nobody was telling her about.
Gavin was someone that my heart broke for. He was a good kid who was just in a bad situation and it reflected on him even when he didn’t do anything. His dad was always drunk and I was so mad at how evil Atticus was too him, even when he tried helping him. I was glad that he found Luna but I felt bad that he never thought he was good enough for her.
I understood Luna’s friendship with Atticus but I was so mad that she gave him so much more than he deserved. I was also mad at Gavin for never telling her the things that he did. I was a little confused initially at Jules and Atticus with their relationship and then I felt sorry for Jules as she knew how he felt about Luna.
There were so many points in the book that I just wanted to scream as I was so mad at how Gavin was treated by everyone around him except for Luna and I completely understood why he needed to leave town. At the end when he was set up I was so beyond mad but I was glad that Luna did the right thing. I also loved that Detective Dern gave Gavin the shot he needed.
The end was scary with Luna and leaves me wondering what is going to happen next but I have my fingers crossed for a happy ever after although I have no idea what’s coming and I am definitely worried!!
Oh my goodness! What an intense, suspenceful book. In a departure from some of her previous writing, Jordan Marie has written a book which had my stomache in knots. She brings in elements of the sinister and built a sense of fear within me so cleverly, particularly as it is offset by such a strong love story, admittedly between two very young people. Despite their youth, there is something of the eternal about Gavin and Luna, but the waters around them are dark.
This is an excellent first book of a new series and I cannot wait for the next part of Gavin and Luna’s story, though I am nervous! Highly recommended!
Jordan Marie has blown my mind.. Luna and Givin’s story had my emotions everywhere. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. I highly recommend this story
Jordan Marie had surprised me yet again. A romance that happened during HighSchool period.. Gavin and Luna had a young love.. the kind that last forever.. The kind love with full with naive, the feeling of confused and scared. This wasnt a fairytale romance.
I loved that the story was written in a slower pace..It was raw and emotional challenged… This love wasnt rushed.. Jordan always had a way to sink a hook. I kept going and the story left me breathless. I loved it truly
Wow did this book blow me away, and I was totally throwing a hissy fit at the cliffhanger! Luna and Gavin are total opposites, but sometimes they say that opposites attract. They both are drawn to each other but stay away for different reasons, but finally Gavin makes a move and the two become inseparable but cautious after an initial mix-up. While they work towards making it to graduation so they can run away and be together, Luna’s family life makes a drastic change, and we get more insight into the relationship between Gavin and his brother. While most all books have siblings supporting each other, it’s interesting and has me drawn in that the brothers don’t get along even with the crap cards they were dealt in life. With the odds stacked against them, it’s questionable on if they will make it out of town together and unscathed. There are so many questions I have, especially after the cliffhanger, and I can’t wait for the next book! Overall, it’s a typical romance story of a boy from the wrong side of the tracks and a good girl next door. Per usual, Jordan’s style of writing is one of my favorites, the flow of the storyline was great (minus my confusion in the beginning, but I quickly caught on), and the cliffhanger keeps me coming back and wanting more.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
We really love stories like these as they are heart felt as well as heartbreaking and as always Ms. Jordan never disappoints.
We have to say that we loved the main characters from the on set of the story.Luna and Gavin from the very first time they set eyes on each other they had a very strong & intense connection even though they didn’t act on that connection for some time their eyes did follow each other everywhere even from a distance.Even though this couple relationship wasn’t perfect they were perfect for one another.
Due to society Gavin was the poor boy messing with the rich girl and their home life could not be any different but,to them they were just boyfriend and girlfriend dating and falling in love. The odds were stacked against this couple from the very beginning because someone was always sabotaging their relationship and getting in the way.
We loved being in Luna and Gavin’s’ emotional roller coaster and we felt the pain those around them dished out time and time again. We loved the story from beginning to end and we loved the characters as well the good and the bad.
The story was filled with a ton of emotion as well as distrust, jealousies, suspense, friendship and most of all self sacrifice in order to see the one they love have their dreams come true. We loved it as the story had all the things we look for in a story that kept us turning the pages to the very end. We are so looking forward to the next in this series .
I love reading a story like this because it was easy to connect with the character’s we were reading about and they made it easy to fall in love with them.I have to say that no matter the odds stacked against this couple we were rooting for them from the very beginning and hoping that love would conquer all !
I loved this book. It was full of great characters & an interesting story. I found it very easy to read & I managed to get pulled right into the story. This is very much a 2 book duet. Don’t think that this book will provide you with a HEA because it plays with your emotions & then leaves you hanging. The only thing that I really didn’t like about this book is that the whole book is set when Gavin & Luna were teenagers. While I didn’t mind this to start, by the end it felt more like a young/new adult book. Had I been expecting that, it would have been fine, but I wasn’t. Overall, I believe that this book is the first that I’ve read from this author & based on this, I would be happy to read more in the future. I just wish that I was given a clearer view of the book to start.
This book! It was so worth the wait for the first book in this duet. Gavin and Luna pull you in. New love, family drama, secrets, suspense it has it all! I loved everything about this book and can’t wait for their continued story. Another great book from Jordan Marie
I must admit I love when this author keeps me on my toes, she does it so well I wonder if she’s really inside my head. Yes this is a duet so some questions are still unanswered by I get why that is. This is a tale of young love that will blossom into a love like no other, I can feel it in my bones. Luna and Gavin are meant to be but with every great love you have to grow into it an own it like it’s meant to be yours and that takes times and sometimes space. This pair is undeniable and through everything they go through I believe love will prevail because it’s inevitable. I’m so ready for part 2 because this author knows how to tell a emotional packed story like no other!!
The “first chance” story that leads to the second-chance romance.
Every second-chance romance has its beginnings in the couple’s first shot at happiness. Usually that shot is merely referenced or described briefly, but here we get an entire book detailing Luna and Gavin’s youthful love story and the heartbreaking reasons for its early end. It would be a sad story indeed if we didn’t know that the author is bringing us their Part 2 soon.
Luna and Gavin are true star-crossed lovers, a pair who are perfect for each other but who have every card in the deck stacked against them. This is a romance that will draw you in right from the start, devouring every word, every scene, every detail. Even though you know it’s not going to work out for them (now), you can’t help but let your heart root for them and break right along with theirs.
It’s beautifully written with amazing characters that will keep you guessing about their true motives all the way through. I’m anxiously awaiting the conclusion to this wonderful love story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Luna and Gavin are great characters with a great connection, the story holds your interest and leaves you needing to read the next book.
Another fab read from Jordan Marie.
We had a glimpse of Gavin in Rory and I have to say, I’ve been wanting to know more about this man. This book is just the beginning of his story and oh what a beginning it is.
I fell hard and fast for Gavin and Luna. Their love is the kind a girl dreams of to be their first love. And the heartbreak… Help me, my heart broke right with them.
Five plus stars from me. I can’t wait to find out more.
I honestly do not know where to stat with this review. Jordan just blew me away. I always say that I love her writing, but this book? It was different than any of her others. It made me laugh, cry, scream, yell, and throw my kindle(it is safe btw) At the start I thought it was going to be a sweet, romantic, first love story. Imagine my delight when it slipped into my fave, dark genre. And you NAILED it Jordan! i would give you 10 stars if i could.
Letting You Go was a rollercoaster of emotions it is a YA romance and based on the excerpt from the second book, its a background/intro of sorts to the main story that takes pace when they are adults. You feel so bad for Gavin and his homelife, and the situation he is in. Luna’s father is a hypocritical a**hole that only make things so much worse for him, and both Gavin’s father and brother do nothing but add on to the pile of crap tha Gavin keeps getting put under. Luna is a bit naive to the real life and hard work she would have to deal with if she were to leave with Gavin. I think she ultimately made the right choice to help Gavin move on from a messed up situation, but at the same time I think they could have found something better than all or nothing. And as far as Atticus, Gavin’s brother, lets just say I’m 90% we need to keep our eyes on him because the creep factor is strong with that one.
Gavin lives at home with his brother and abusive alcoholic father. Unfortunately for Gavin he and his brother do not get along and instead of having each others backs, Atti hates him. Luna & Gavin have had eyes for each other since they first met, but she comes from money, and he is known as the son of the town drunk. From the wrong side of town he knows Luna’s parents won’t accept their relationship, and he plans on leaving town the moment he graduates so he doesn’t even try to have a relationship with her. Until they can’t stay away anymore.
Holy Hot High School!!! The drama. The romance. The conniving. The backstabbing. I do not high school. But I wouldn’t have donated to miss out on this book. The struggles that Gavin and Luna have in building a relationship are mind blowing. The world is against them. With every page I waited for another tragic moment to occur.
Letting You Go crosses so many genres. Opposites attract. Second chance. Coming of age. Small town. Young love. What I really devoured was the desperation in Gavin’s heart to leave Stone Lake. He was counting down the minutes to leave the town and never look back. He no longer wanted to be a victim of his birth. His plans were only made better when Luna agreed to go with him.
Luna was the all american girl. She never disobeyed her parents. She loved her small town. She was the perfect high school girl, all good grades and homecoming crown. She had only one thing against her, she fell for the wrong guy. Friends, family, and even enemies would stop at nothing to destroy them. When she rebelled her world came crumbling down. To protect her, Gavin must be destroyed.
Gavin was a leper. He was not accepted or wanted and so he must leave or be destroyed. The question is will Luna be by his side. Will they get there Happily Ever After.
I am not usually a fan of cliffhangers. That being said, Jordan Marie has a way of writing a story in such away that the cliffhanger draws out the suspense adding even more the excitement of part. And if the prologue at the book of this story is an indication it is going to be SOOOOOOO worth the wait.
Letting You Go gets 5 smoking hot stars from me!!!
Jordan Marie pulls a whopper of a story out of the bag in this sweet yet gripping and intense romantic suspense. I have to say I have always been a big fan of Jordan’s writing style and this new book venture just goes to show that she is an extremely versatile author who can turn her hand to any genre. This tale is a beautiful beginning to what i am sure will be a fabulous duet!
Gavin is a character you have been previously introduced to in Rory and Diesel’s story. We travel back to Gavin’s teen years, in his home town of Stone Lake, Maine. Gavin is the epitome of bad boy with the smouldering dark looks and the unapproachable aura. Luna Marshall is the cheer-leading good girl who never puts a foot wrong, with a massive crush on Gavin. To the outside world they should never have been together, and there are many who will try their hardest to make sure that does not happen. When everyone is against you, are you willing to sacrifice yourself for the one you love? Some tough choices need to be made. For ones so young Gavin and Luna have what seems like a lifetime of trouble headed their way.
This book completely gut punched me. I was an emotional wreck by the time I made it to the end. When a story grips you so hard that you just cannot put it down, that is what this book is. It is a beautiful love story and at the same time a dramatic, intense thrilling mystery, a contradiction, maybe but ooh so good you will be salivating for more.
LETTING YOU GO, IS SOOOOO GOOOOD!!!!
I have read EVERY book Jordan Marie has written, and she still has the ability to surprise me….LETTING YOU GO shows us a different side to Jordan Marie and is what I consider a young adult contemporary love story……and it is an EXCELLENT one…..
I love Gavin Lodge….(If you are familiar with Jordan Marie’s work, this name should ring a bell…) This boy from the “wrong side of the tracks” has been kicked in the teeth by life….and by his “father.”….Luna Marshall is the cutest, most popular “good girl” in Gavin’s class, and her life should be perfect, right…The kids are more mature than the parents in this book….
Gavin and Luna have always wanted each other….and when they get together, it’s obvious love is already there….and this is not “puppy love.”…….The love Gavin and Luna have for each other is palpable……Gavin is just the best kind of “bad boy”……and Luna is just the best kind of “good girl”…..and they have a forever love…….
But, they are so young…and life happens, tragedy strikes, and Gavin has to get out of town….If she can’t go with him, she has to let him go…..Even though she just found out some life-changing news, she is now unable to share it with him…..how could she let him go?? How could she not???
This book is SO GOOD!!!! It has everything in it…..all the feels we love to get from a book….characters we love and characters we hate, love, hatred, abuse, laughter, ugly tears, murder…… and, hopefully, a HEA in book 2, WHEN YOU WERE MINE….Please, Jordan!!!!
Jordan Marie is a multi talented author and this book is one of her best. Luna and Gavin show us what young love is. Jordan writes her characters with such depth and realism, that you have no choice but to fall in love with them. This is the first book in a duet, looking forward to the second one.
Just when I didn’t think she could write a better story, boom pow Jordan Marie knocks me on my tookas!
Luna is the epitome of a good girl and she owns it. Great girl, works hard at school, makes mom and dad proud, and steers clear of trouble. Well, physically anyway. All bets are off when Gavin Lodge comes to mind. Gavin does things to her no other guy does. But he’s the bad boy, wrong side of the tracks, well Gavin probably isn’t even on the tracks unfortunately. But he’s her one. What she doesn’t realize is he feels the same but doesn’t want to pursue her because she’s Luna. She’s the exception to every rule. Gavin has nothing to offer but his heart and that’s not nearly enough. Even though he has big plans, he’s fighting an uphill battle.
Young love involving complete opposites except they become so entwined they can’t separate.
Now Luna worked her way into my heart and Gavin, well, I just want to hug him and make his world better. Add in a firecracker best friend that simply speaks her mind and I was all in. But then, I was introduced to Atticus and God have mercy on my soul but I wanted to throttle that guy. I wanted to inflict such horrific pain. It’s been a long time since I loathed and quite literally hated a character to this degree. Gutting him like a fish would not have inflicted enough pain. If you can’t tell, I’m a bit peeved here. That’s just how phenomenal these characters and story are.
Get ready for a new adventure! Jordan Marie has written a phenomenal story!
