Where do I begin with this review…. I have no idea because I have so many emotions on this book. I was reading it and I thought OMG Emma and Ryan they were going to have their HEA but then Ryan up and disappears without a word and Emma is left heart broken and all alone. For seven years Emma has mourned her relationship with Ryan and she wants him back. She looks for his face everyday when she is out but she never finds it and the relationships she does give a chance don’t work out because she has out up a wall around her heart and will not let anyone in.
Then her friend Paige tells her they are going on vacation and she is not taking no for an answer. So Emma knows she must go on the vacation and she is happy she went. While on this vacation she meets Justin who breaks right through her walls because he is looking for a new start to because he has had some hard times.
When the two of them get together the chemistry is undeniable and they both enjoy each other. Then Emma goes home and finds Ryan has come back for her and he wants to build that life they talked about. He wants to marry her and start a family. Emma is confused because she loves Ryan and always has but she has feelings for Justin and wants to see where it could go with Justin but her heart wants Ryan. What is she to do? Who will she choose? I have no idea because I need book two to find out what happens next.
PSA: To get the most enjoyment of Letting Love Go, I suggest reading “Pieces of Us”. It’s a short read, but it sets the foundation for the Damaged Heart Series. (currently free on Amazon!) With that said:
Emma is the epitome of a damaged heart. This is a case where you ask yourself, how much can one heart handle. She lost her father; her strength, her sounding board, her sense of reason. And she lost her boyfriend, the love of her life. Then there’s more heartbreak and betrayal that she just doesn’t deserve. I was so happy for Emma to have found a friend, not an acquaintance/co-worker, but a true friend that she could open up with and be herself. It’s that friendship that made it possible for a week that would change her life.
This book has several points of view, which I rather enjoyed!
I’m ready to jump right in and start reading Letting Love In, book two of the Damaged Heart Series!
This is the first book I have read by Ms. LeBoeuf and I loved it!
I cried from the first page to the very last page! The tears fell from joy, happiness, sorrow and heartbreak, this book has all the feels!
Everyone needs their lobster and Emma just can’t seem to find hers. Ryan (the love of her life) disappeared seven years ago without so much as a word to Emma and she then surrounded her heart by a thick wall. Due to some really “bad boyfriends” and what transpired through their relationships, Emma’s trust in people has hit rock bottom.
Ryan suddenly appears and is determined to win Emma back. He has changed from the boy who left her to the man who wants her back, but can he? Seven years is a long time to be away; life and people can change.
Emma takes a trip with her friend Paige in order to clear her head and get a fresh start in her life. She happens to lock eyes with Justin and a small piece of her wall comes down. Justin is looking for a fresh start himself and believes that Emma is just the person that can help him.
Will Ryan win back Emma’s heart and trust….or will Justin take his place….?
Obviously this is a series, so the book does end in a cliffhanger – and what an ending!
This is an incredible start to the series and I can’t wait to grab book two. If you like a book with angst…this is it!!
