Molly Alcott didn¿t expect to open her mailbox one summer morning and find an old letter stuffed between bills and a supermarket flyer. Penned in familiar handwriting, dated over fifteen years ago, the letter was written to Molly after her first date with the man she¿ll never forget.
Week after week, new letters appear. Each marks an event in the history of their epic love affair. Each heals a … Each heals a wound. Each holds the confession of the man who still owns Molly¿s heart.
The letters are full of promise, hope and love, but truth be told, Molly wishes she could unread them all.
Because the man who wrote these letters is not the one sending them.

This book left me without words! Devney Perry had me reading a trope that is usually a hard pass for me. I like my romance to be of the happily ever after sort, rather than the pain of a broken forever. But this one had everything I didn’t know I needed!
Molly and Finn had a storybook romance. Until they didn’t. Six years after their divorce, they have a functional co-parenting relationship and she continues to work closely with his sister. Their children are their focus, and when the kids are at the opposite, house they each fill their time with work. They are lonely and though they go through the motions, neither has moved on from the past. One night of too much alcohol and reminiscing finds them remembering the chemistry that once sparked between them. When Molly begins receiving letters written 15 years before, they are forced to face their past, both the beautiful and the ugly.
This was both heartbreaking and healing. Molly and Finn are both hurt by their divorce even as they appear to be ok. As they finally face the issues that caused them to drift apart, they find the comfort that would have changed history had it happened at the time. But even as they face the past, there are parts of it that neither want to relive. And though Finn knows what is in the letter, he doesn’t know who is sending them and he would stop them if he could. There are things in those letters he doesn’t want Molly to see now that so much time has passed.
I loved returning to the cast of characters introduced in The Birthday List. Finn’s sister, Poppy, and her husband are central to this story, but I also loved seeing the customers from the Mayson Jar again and watching them eat all the food they can get away with. The side characters offer wonderful advice, while also offering moments of levity amidst the emotional rollercoaster that Finn and Molly find themselves riding.
This quickly rose to the top of my favorite reads of the year, both because it is a beautiful love story and because it forced me to stretch my comfort level in a read. While the idea of a divorce in romance is usually a no-no, this story takes the end of a marriage and twists it into a bump in the road. Even with their history (or maybe because of it) these two do not have an easy road and they have a lot to consider as they contemplate a future because of their past.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Oh, Devney Perry, you can do no wrong in my eyes.
The slow burn, second chance romance, with a bit of mystery that is Letters To Molly was such an enjoyable read. All the feels that I love in a book all wrapped up into one pretty book.
I loved the first book in the series (which isn’t absolutely necessary but I am a purest and I always think reading the first one makes the reading experience THAT much better) The Birthday List is a top favorite and Letters To Molly has been added to the list.
We all make mistakes in life and having the chance to mend the fences (and hearts) we’ve broken is not something we are often given the chance to do. With characters who are imperfect and willing to open their hearts and minds to forgiveness (with some serious push back mind you) Devney Perry created a beautiful story of Molly and Finn.
Jump into this book blind, believe in the beauty that is Devney Perry’s storytelling abilities that she will keep you reading and staying UP ALL NIGHT!
5 No More Excuses Stars!!!
Oh Devney Perry what have you done to me??? I’m completely ruined after reading this beautiful, emotion-filled second chance love story that took me on a roller coaster of a ride with some very high highs and devastatingly low lows. Finn and Molly have moved right up into my Top Five favorite H/h of all time!!!
When this book started, I really thought I was prepared for it. What I wasn’t prepared for was the overwhelming feeling of happiness, love, and sometimes anger while seeing parts of Molly and Finn’s life through these letters. They’re delivered at just the right time too. Both of their lives have somewhat moved on, but there are things that happen that bring them back into each other’s lives on a daily basis and that in and of itself was an interesting day to day journey. It was clear to me that no matter how hard they tried to not want to touch and feel and be with each other, they’re destiny was already written, they just needed to be open to what was in store for them.
I’m not giving any secrets away with this review because this is a book and story that must be experienced first hand so you too can go on a journey of rekindling love between Molly and Finn. Trust me when I tell you, have tissues and a fan at had because you’ll need it.
Whether this is your first book, or you’ve read every book Ms. Perry has written, you too will fall in love with love again. Her writing, story-telling capability and the beauty of all her characters’ souls will settle deep in your heart and if you’re like me you won’t want to leave the Maysen Jar world any time soon!
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review
I was both ecstatic and nervous when I found out that I was receiving an ARC of Letters to Molly. If you have read the first book in the Mayson Jar series, The Birthday List, you might understand.
Letters to Molly is the story of Finn and Molly, divorced for six years, both merely existing in their lives while co-parenting their two children. When Molly starts to receive letters she didn’t know Finn had written years ago, the two finally start talking and opening up old wounds that were never really closed.
I had strong opinions about Finn before I started Letters to Molly. I was not a fan of his in The Birthday List, and I wasn’t sure that I wanted him to get his HEA. Devney though has this brilliant way of writing characters that you can relate to, even if they aren’t always their best version of themselves.
I enjoyed Molly, she was strong and independent after the divorce, but always owned up to her mistakes, never making excuses.
There was intense chemistry between Finn and Molly that made you realize their issues were never physical.
More than anything, this story had me reflecting on my relationships and asking myself if I only exist in the day to day.
Devney Perry delivers again with Letters to Molly. A heartbreaking tale of fractured love that with bits of hope is reclaimed.
Letters to Molly is a beautifully written story about rebuilding a relationship that had been broken for years and finding the love that they thought they lost.
The mysterious letters that started showing up in Molly’s mailbox gave both Molly and Finn a chance to take a look back to see where it all went wrong and to find the healing they both needed to move forward and recapture the love they still held in their hearts.
Who was sending the letters and why now? You will have to read this wonderful story yourself to find out.
5 Stars
Ms. Perry has done it again. This book is full of love, laughter, heartache and especially tears (both the happy and sad variety). Finn and Molly’s story needed to be told and what a phenomenal story it turned out to be! This book proves that love is stronger than anything, it can hurt, it can heal and it cane survive. This story touched my heart as well as my soul.

Letters to Molly: Maysen Jar Series Book 2 Devney Perry
This second in the Maysen Jar series nearly emotionally broke me. The characters are strong and vibrant, the story grabs your attention from the first page and doesn’t let go. The growth in Molly and Finn (mostly Finn) makes this second chance love story so engaging.
Molly Alcott is a single Mom, working in a small restaurant with her best friend and former sister-in-law Poppy, called The Maysen Jar.
Molly and her ex-husband Finn used to be “that” couple in college. Always together, lots of PDF, and everyone knew they would have their happily ever after. They did for a while. They owned and worked a landscaping business they started, and it grew by leaps and bounds. They squeezed two wonderful kids in, but soon the business was more important than they could control. Arguments became normal, and after a particularly bad one, Molly made the biggest mistake in her life. Next thing she knew she had a lawyer, trying to figure out custody issues and a very broken heart.
Finn let his anger take over his life, and was barely polite when having to see Molly. He dated, and gave everything to the business. Lately though, he found dating was really not all that enjoyable, and has even stayed for dinner or taken Molly and the kids out for pizza. Molly’s life was finally looking up. As Molly and Finn seemed to be growing closer, letters started appearing in her mailbox. No stamp, they just appeared. She realized after the first one, they were letters Finn had written her, and never sent her, when they were first dating. As each letter came, Molly and Finn try to figure out who was putting them in her mailbox. But the letters started them talking, which they desperately needed. They talked like they should have when everything fell apart. But, Finn knew if the letters kept coming, they were going to be hurtful, and feared their renewed feelings would be destroyed. How could he stop them?
This beautiful second chance love story could be read on it’s own, but The Birthday List adds so much to the depth of Molly and Finn’s relationship.
I have a feeling both of theses stories will be re-read a lot.

What a beautifully written story. We all have regrets. For Finn and Molly it was a lack of trust and communication. This second chance story proves that true love exists and is worth the fight.
Divorced from each other for years, letters suddenly appear from Finn addressed to Molly, but he never sent them. As the two slowly reconnect the truths in those letters will either bring them closer or validate their previous decisions. When tragedy occurs, can they finally admit to one another their feelings.
I was sucked in from the beginning and am not sorry for it.
Letters to Molly is a beautiful and Super emotional second chance story. It is a story of forgiveness and redemption.
Molly and Flynn are divorced. They have a history of pain and betrayal that they have finally put in the past and have begun moving on. That is until a letter arrives that drags the past right back into focus.
“Until I forgave myself for being human and flawed and impulsive, the past would haunt me.
It would haunt us.”
I loved seeing this story unfold. It highlighted Molly and Flynn learning to really see each other as human and flawed and remembering why they fell in love.
-4.5 Stars!-
Wow! Devney Perry has done it once again! I loved The Birthday List and I was looking forward to Letters to Molly because I wanted Molly and Finn’s story so bad! This book was freaking amazing!
You will love this book! If you were dying to find out about Molly and Finn, now is your chance. This book will take you on an amazing journey full of heartbreak, laughs and love. I would absolutely recommend this book.
5 Amazing Stars!
I adored The Birthday List and when I found out Devney was writing this book I nearly cried with joy. Then I stressed for days about reading it because I knew I was going to be on a rollercoaster with this book. I was! This book will have you experiencing all the feels. It’s a must read!
This book will break your heart, make you smile, melt, sigh, cry and every other emotion you can feel. I devoured this book and read through my tears. I could FEEL what Molly and Finn were feeling. Feel the heartbreak, the love that they had that was splintered in just seconds.
They thought they had it all but they were wrong. So many small things can lead up to mistakes. Mistakes that can break a person, break a marriage, break hearts.
Can they ever come back from them? Can they take the time to actually TALK? Can they figure out who is sending Finn’s letters because it isn’t him?
The first book I read from this author was the Birthday List and I absolutely loved it. I was super excited to see that we got Molly and Finn’s story and wow what a great addition to the series!
I love all of Devney Perry’s books, but The Birthday List stayed with me long after reading it. After discovering that Letters to Molly would feature Molly and Finn who featured heavily in the first Maysen Jar title I was incredibly eager to read their story.
Molly and Finn divorced six years prior to the start of this book, they’ve both begun to move on with their life, and are settled into what is their new normal.
Letters To Molly is a beautiful, raw, real and emotional story. It both heartbreaking and heartwarming, angsty and bittersweet and the most realistic portrayal of parenthood and marriage that I have read in a book to date.
This title had me going through a gamut of emotions, I smiled, laughed and I cried, as Devney’s writing takes readers flawlessly between the past and present.
I wasn’t sure what to expect going in to this title knowing some of the back story of this pair from The Birthday List, but boy am I glad that I read Letters to Molly. I adored every chapter in this title and cannot recommend it highly enough.
This is the story of Finn and Molly Alcott that we met The Birthday List…once they thought they were soul mates, but their lives spiraled to the point that they have now been divorced six years. They are co-parenting their two kids and share close friendships with his sister, Poppy, and her husband, Cole.
Over the years they have found a way to get along for the kids’ sake. But they are essentially lonely, starved for companionship, and filling the void with work or their kids. One night with a bit of alcohol and nostalgia, their chemistry heats back up. But Molly needs boundaries to avoid getting hurt again. And neither want to confuse their kids or complicate their shared relationships.
And now someone is sending Molly letters that Finn wrote years ago that share his raw, unedited emotions. Some are good and show how deep he loved her, but some are more hurtful due to anger, miscommunication, and painful topics. But no matter how hard it is to receive them, they do provide a catalyst for tough conversations and facing their past mistakes. Communication was their big downfall, and now it is all being exposed.
Will they have a second chance to make things right or will it be too little too late?
Reading about divorced or separated couples is not something that often appeals to me, but I was already invested enough in Finn and Molly’s story to want to see the rest of it. There are some surprises and twists. There are challenges and tests. There is humor, steam, and strong emotions. These are two people who went to hell together, but now are hoping that somehow they can find their way back. But old hurts and issues are still affecting them, and new situations are making things even more difficult. In order to move on they will have to be willing to change, take ownership, forgive themselves and the other, fight for what they want and need. It’s real, raw, and heartfelt. It brings all the feels from the lowest lows to the sweetest highs. I loved these two together and I was rooting for them the whole time.
Throughout is the mystery of who is sending the letters and why. I will admit that I had a few issues with how that all resolved, but it did not impact my overall enjoyment of the book. It is a story of true love, family love, and hope conquering the most difficult challenges.
This brings back the group we met in The Birthday List, but can be read as a stand alone. But it actually made me want to go back and reread the first book again. I also want to go to the Maysen Jar restaurant and eat food served in Mason jars.
I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Do you believe in chance meetings? Molly and Finn crossed paths thanks to Finn’s sister Poppy. While it was never intended for the two to hit it off so well, Finn and Molly found themselves enamored with one another very quickly. As time passes, the connection between Molly and Finn leads to much more than a friendship. The two found their way to the altar, ended up the parents, and started their own successful business. What should have been the ‘perfect’ life ended up unraveling and a quickened pace.
The animosity between Finn and Molly only increased after the divorce. While their differences have led them to this state, the two always keep their children’s interests at heart. While Molly had never ‘replaced’ Finn in her life, she respected his decision to move on from the love that they once shared. Then an unexpected turn of events happens. Molly discovers a letter in her mailbox that Finn wrote years ago. What puzzles Molly the most is the fact Finn did not send the letter. Now the two embark upon a journey of reflection, redemption and forgiveness that will take them to a place neither would have predicted.
Letters to Molly is the highly anticipated follow up to The Birthday List. From the moment I dove into this novel, I was captivated by the heartache, realism, and relationship turmoil that was encompassed between the covers. Finn and Molly have a past that will haunt you when it unravels. The emotional aspect of the plot was more than what I expected. Very few people can overcome the ups and downs that face a couple in turmoil. Finn and Molly proved to be the exception to the rule.
As with most Devney Perry reads, I found myself transported into the lives of the characters that held my attention from cover to cover. Letters to Molly is definitely a heartwarming story that will test the limits of any broken heart. I cannot recommend it enough!!
This is the kind of story that as soon as I started reading it, I couldn’t let go until the very end. Too bad I had to be an adult because I would have read it in one sitting. A 5 star masterpiece.
I will keep this spoiler free and won’t say much of what goes on in the book because it needs to be experienced.
This is the kind of storyline that I don’t get to read about much. It was a well thought out plot with a some twists along the way. A heartbreaking story about a family that needs to heal and forgive. Beautifully written with amazing characters that made me fall in love with them. I felt so much for them. This story was a solid page turner until the last word read.
I can safely say that it can be read as standalone even if it’s the second book in the series. The author does give an up to date from the previous characters from the first book. Told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story about second chances.
If you’ve read The Birthday List you will be familiar with Molly and Finn. Now we get their story and I couldn’t be happier.
A divorce can take a couple in two ways, they can either end up hating each other or learn to live with their new circumstances. Molly and Finn are co-parenting amicably, for the reader it hurts to read as you can feel the love that’s still there. When the letters start to arrive it brings up old painful memories for the couple. For the reader it gives a glimpse into the past and how it all fell apart.
This was so beautifully written everything about it just worked. At times it’s painful to read. Forgiveness is hard, accepting your own failings is not easy. A sublime journey of love family and redemption.

Last year I read The Birthday List, and not only was it one of my top books of the year (and a forever favorite) but I fell in love with Devney Perry’s writing. I went on to devour every one of her books, but no matter how much I loved each I still wanted more. Specifically, Molly’s story. But of course, Devney insisted TBL was a standalone. So when she announced she was writing this book I couldn’t contain my excitement.
Molly was introduced in The Birthday List as Poppys’ best friend, business partner & ex-sister in law. I actually had a love-hate relationship with her character, loving who she was but hating something she did. But there was just something about her that made me want her story, and I’m so happy we got it because there is so much more to this character than I ever thought. She is strong, driven, and loves fiercely. She has faced her demons and accepted the life she thinks she deserves.
Finn has spent years getting to a place where he can be around Molly without completely hating her. For their kids, he puts on a brave face and plays the civil ex-husband, dating and continuing to build up his business. But one drunken night brings back all the memories and reminds him of how his life used to be.
“My love for Finn wasn’t going to stop. I could tell myself and others I wasn’t in love with Finn. It was all lies. I’d buried that love deep, shoving it down whenever it threatened to appear, but it was still there. It had always been there.”
This book ripped my heart out and put it back together at the same time. Letters Finn wrote but never sent start mysteriously appearing in Molly’s mailbox, giving us glimpses into their past and how it affected their future. I loved how each faced their demons, reevaluating how they perceived different memories and seeing things from the other’s perspective.
For anyone who is afraid to read this book after The Birthday List, please give it a chance. I, admittedly, was a bit nervous as to how this story would go but I absolutely loved it. Their story has it’s ugly parts, but it is so incredible and written beautifully. I loved Molly & Finn, their kids, and getting more Poppy & Cole. As usual Devney Perry gave us an amazing story that I couldn’t put down, and Letter to Molly will definitely be one of my top reads of 2019!
So basically Devney Perry is a wizard genius, because everything she writes, I am instantly sucked in, to the point I have to immediately read it all and finish without stopping. It has happened to me with each Devney book I have read.
Never once has the plot lacked in any way, I don’t see plot holes- very rarely find typographical errors. I instantly bond with the characters- primary and secondary. I always want to know if the secondary characters are getting stories, and I want the primary characters to always be ok.
There is always a touch of mystery and intrigue to all of her stories- who did it? Why did they do it? And how did they do it? The romance is always swoon worthy- whether it is from her very alpha heroes or her equally as alpha heroines. All of her characters are strongly written.
The themes of her stories are typically clear to me too- like in Letters to Molly, it was almost always going to be a story of forgiveness, and remembering that a lot of the time- good times outweigh the bad in life.
I honestly don’t want to even leave a review on this book, because I think it is best to go in blind. I went into this book, knowing ok yes it was about Molly and Finn, but I also didn’t know how it was going to go, and obviously how it was going to end. And I was intrigued from the cover alone- and the small bits we got in The Birthday List.
The letters that were sent to Molly, were raw and uncut emotions- another thing Devney touches on in all her books. While fiction contemporary romance is just that- FICTION, Devney always has the real life stuff.
Real life emotions- and real life things that people will experience, I think that’s why I love her so much. She isn’t pandering or over the top at all. And I guess that’s why she does what she does- it’s like it flows from her fingertips so effortlessly. Her voice in this book community is a strong one. And I suggest you pick not one of her books up- but all of them and get to reading.
The Birthday List and Letters to Molly, are in fact stand alones- but I would want you to read the Birthday List first, it’s one of my most favorite books that I own- and then dive into Molly’s story.
You do not want to miss Mrs. Perry’s words, I will tell you that. You really won’t regret a single thing you read from her. Whether it be her very first- Coppersmith Farmhouse- to her current, Letters to Molly, all of them so well written and equally brilliant.
Thank you Devney for giving us life each time we sit down to read your stories, you are truly a gift. #TeamAlcott
