Molly Alcott didn¿t expect to open her mailbox one summer morning and find an old letter stuffed between bills and a supermarket flyer. Penned in familiar handwriting, dated over fifteen years ago, the letter was written to Molly after her first date with the man she¿ll never forget.
Week after week, new letters appear. Each marks an event in the history of their epic love affair. Each heals a … Each heals a wound. Each holds the confession of the man who still owns Molly¿s heart.
The letters are full of promise, hope and love, but truth be told, Molly wishes she could unread them all.
Because the man who wrote these letters is not the one sending them.

Note this is the second book in the Maysen Jar series you need to read The Birthday List first in order to fully comprehend and appreciate this story.
This is Finn and Molly’s story about how they fell apart, gave up on each other and their marriage. But never once did they give up on their children. It’s heart-wrenching to uncover that while in the beginning the blame for their failure was placed only on Molly for her cheating. Then the letters start arriving they both realized that it was both their faults. In addition, to the uncovering of the demise of their marriage, there is a little mystery involving who is sending the letters and how are they getting to Molly. It truly is a sweet story.
5 Stars
Letters to Molly by Devney Perry is the second book in the Maysen Jar series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I do recommend reading The Birthday List first.
Honestly the best I can come up with right now is WOW. LTM was one of the best second chance romances I have ever read. It was an emotional story filled with pain, loss, and forgiveness but also hope and love. I was so apprehensive about reading Molly’s story but I should’ve known that Ms. Perry would be able to turn it into a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that I could not put down!
I’m not going to say much about the actual storyline but I will say this-any preconceived feelings you have like I did, get them out of your head. This story is so much more than I thought it would be. My favorite part of the book was the letters. They are so raw and truthfully enhance the story so much. You feel exactly how the characters felt. Everything flowed well and you can’t help but fall in love with hero but with the heroine too. Letters to Molly is hands down one of my favorite stories I’ve read this year and I am so looking forward to reading more from Ms. Perry!

The time has finally come….We got a second book in the Maysen Jar Series.
The Birthday List is my ALL time favorite book by Devney Perry and after reading the book, I was dying to get Molly and Finn’s story. So I was beyond excited when Devney announced she would be releasing Letters To Molly. I was NOT disappointed at all!! This book was beyond AMAZING!!!
This story was so much more than I could have hoped for. I knew the road to Finn and Molly’s HEA wasn’t going to be an easy one, and it wasn’t, but it was so worth the wait. I loved that Devney took a trope we don’t see many books about. I truly think this might be the first book I have read about a divorced couple getting a second chance at love. Devney said it best in the acknowledgements at the end….this was a different take on a second chance romance.
Letters To Molly really hit all of my emotions. This story had me all over the place. At times this was painful to read, because my heart hurt so much for what Finn and Molly were going through, but I knew in the end it would all be OK. And it was. I loved the ending of this story. It truly brought these characters full circle.
Letters To Molly is a standalone novel and the second and final book in the Maysen Jar series. But honestly I wouldn’t read this book without reading The Birthday List first. The Birthday List will set up Finn and Molly’s story for you better than just reading LTM. This book is told in Dual POV. I loved the flow and pace of this story. It actually almost went too fast for me. I didn’t want this book to end. I could live in theses characters lives forever.
In this story we take up where TBL ended in regards to Molly and Finn. Molly and Finn have been divorced for 6 years now and are trying to coexist to make raising their kids easier for everyone. But things take a turn for them one night after a family movie and dinner, and a little too much wine (for the adults) they find themselves together in bed the next morning. Realizing it was a mistake and that it can’t happen again, they try to move on. That is until Molly starts receiving letters written by Finn from years ago. These letters mysteriously show up at perfect timings to make Finn and Molly face things they didn’t in the past.
What I loved the most about their story, was how real it felt. I thought Devney showed an accurate portrayal of what marriages can go through over the years. How couples handle situations and how tragedy can truly change the direction of people’s lives. I think many people will be able to relate to this story in some way or form. I loved watching the growth between both Finn and Molly.
Since I read TBL so long ago (need a reread now) It was great to catch up with Poppy, Cole, Jimmy and Randall. I loved to see Randall and Jimmy were still up to their normal antics. They added in some comic relief when the story got a little heavy. But they also gave such sage advice when it was needed.
I would 100% recommend reading Letters To Molly. It is absolutely one of my favorite books to date. You don’t want to miss this cast of characters. They will definitely live on in my head and heart for a long time to come. This is a MUST READ for all romance readers!!!
I was beyond excited when Devney Perry announced she was writing Molly and Finn’s story. When The Birthday List ended, I knew in my heart, Molly and Finn weren’t done. Letters to Molly is so much more than a second chance romance. It is a story about healing the wounds of the past, of anger, hurt and betrayal, and most of all, love. Finn and Molly have been divorced for six years. They’ve learned how to co-parent, live separate lives, and to be amicable. And then Finn’s letters start showing up. Using Finn’s letters as the catalyst for healing their relationship was brilliant. There were so many times I wanted to shake Finn and then he’d reveal his heart and his fears and hurt and I knew this very flawed many was very human and amazing. And Molly, well I knew when I met her in The Birthday List I was going to love her. Visiting with
Poppy and Cole was an added bonus! Devney Perry never disappoints, this book is no exception. I read it over two days, only stopping to eat and sleep. And when it was done, of course, I wanted more!
Told in dual POV, this second chance romance story will have your heart soaring!
Wow…Love, love, loved it!!!
Someone is doing their ever-loving-best attempting to play cupid for Finn and Molly Alcott, hoping that they will finally accept what should be an unmitigated fact…they belong together.
Always have, and always will.
When Molly receives the first of a mysterious and unexpected string of letters, she never dreamt it would provide insight into the heart and mind of her ex-husband, and father of their children, Finn. Something that she would have killed for during the most tumultuous days of their marriage. A man who prioritized work over family for years, making her feel unimportant, and at times unwanted. A man who quickly divorced her after a tragic mistake, and immediately distanced himself from her as much as he could. A man who seems to be moving on and starting his life over… with another woman.
So, why now? Why would someone toy with the progress both Molly & Finn have made by sending letters to Molly that Finn wrote to her during their marriage, but never shared with her?
With the appearance of these letters Molly & Finn are forced to examine all of the events that led up to the demise of their relationship. Eyes are opened, as well as damaged hearts, as they navigate their way through a past that neither of them have fully dealt with. Even after six years, Molly & Finn have been unable to let go and move on.
For Finn, still waters run deep. Something Molly realizes as they read these letters for perhaps the very first time. When old emotions are front and center demanding attention, things get heated between Finn & Molly and the roaring spark that has always existed between them ignites…full blaze, between the sheets, and often! With a passion like these two possess, it can be hard to see how things went south, but life is tough, and the struggles between couples are real.
Honestly, their chemistry is on an enviable level, and their connection is truly beautiful.
Finn has always cared for his Darling Molly, and through these letters we begin to see how neither of them will ever truly be whole again until the family they are each devoted to is reunited once again.
This unforgettable story is about so much more than a man and woman falling in love. It’s about the staying power of love. The heart wanting what it wants no matter the cost. It’s about pain & hurts, misunderstandings & fear, the work that it takes on BOTH parts to make a marriage last. It’s about digging deep, and being honest with yourself in your self reflection. How did you contribute to the ending of your marriage? While it may be easy to lay blame on one person, it’s not truthful, and a family pays the price.
“The thing about divorce is, there isn’t always one mistake. One nuclear bomb dropped on a couple that destroys their marriage. Sometimes, it creeps up on you slowly.”
Ultimately, it’s about trust, hope, forgiveness and unconditional, deep and abiding love. It’s no coincidence that LOVE, WORK and VERB are all 4 letter words!
I was so impressed with this story!! Devney handles a very difficult and delicate storyline with dignity and respect for both Finn & Molly. I feel she did an exceptional job showing care and compassion for each character in a way that allows the reader to fall in love with each of them in equal measure. The emotions of this story are intense, raw and certainly real and relatable. My heart was breaking and my eyes were leaking!
Marriage is hard. But when you find your Darling Molly, walking away proves to be much harder.
Devney has given us another powerful and highly emotional story that is sure to captivate you and further cement her status as an automatic one-click worthy author. No doubt about it!
Highly recommend (and bring tissues)!
Letters to Molly is earning a new rating meter from me……..10 hearts
A little back story: we are first introduced to Molly and Finn in The Birthday List. We are given just a little snippet of their history…..just a snippet that leaves you wanting more and thankfully Ms. Perry gave us the “more”.
The history that lies between Finn and Molly is long and cuts deep. Their story is not for the faint of heart. Their story is real, heartbreaking, heartwarming and devastating……but even with all the hurt there is still love. And that’s the journey I took when I started Letters to Molly…..the journey of two people finding their path back to each other. It’s not easy and that journey broke me…….but, I needed that….the reader needs to be broken so that the beauty of the love between Finn and Molly is rediscovered and brought back to life.
Letters to Molly is more than a second chance love…..it’s a love that will transcend time and distance.

Letters to Molly by Devney Perry is one of the best books I read this year. This is the second book in the Maysen Jar Series it can be read as a standalone but I would suggest reading The Birthday List first. I absolutely LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! Everyone should read this book. I picked up this book telling my husband I am just going to read one chapter, well as you can guess I kept turning the pages and couldn’t put it down. He never saw me again until I had read the last page. After reading The Birthday List I could not wait for Molly and Fin’s story and Letters to Molly did not disappoint. This book has so much emotion you felt everything the characters were feeling. This book has made me laugh it has made me cry but it was so worth the tears. I also ended up with a huge smile on my face. This was a lovely, heartwarming and emotional story. This is a perfect second chance love story. This is not a book to be missed.
Wow. I don’t even know where to begin. We all met Molly & Finn in TBL, there was so much tension behind the scenes I was itching to know their story. So now I’m all like FINALLY!
Molly & Finn we’re married, happy as clams. They started their landscaping business after college and then began a family. At some point they started growing apart, communication so lacking it was frustrating! I wanted to shake them!
By the time it was too late, they both tried to move on. Or move forward, because there was no moving on from a love like theirs. Molly went to work at The Maysen Jar and Finn hustled his landscaping. Both lives for their kids.
When the sparks reignited (many moons later) I was so excited! I should’ve known Devney wouldn’t let it happen so easily though. Ha!
Once the letters started rolling in, I started praying “please work this out! They have to work this out, Lord!”
I just seriously love them so much. They’ll make you believe in forgiveness and the need for it to be able to live happily ever after. <3
When I received my copy of Letters to Molly, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to read it. I just lost my mother and have been in my feelings for a couple of weeks. The desire to read had dissipated. The love of words was waning, and I was lost. Then the realization hit that Devney’s books are always full of hope, they are always full of healing, they are always full of love, and those were the things I needed in my life.
Love should keep us together according to Captain and Tennille. Love should conquer all. Love should be the glue that holds a shattering heart together. Love should be the beginning and the end. But is it always?
Molly and Finn were the couple that were made from dreams. The couple that loved hard and supported each other through the storms of life. The couple that grew friendship into love which expanded into marriage. And then they weren’t. They allowed life to get in the way. Priorities became an option. Family became waylaid. Infidelity came into question. And divorce was the outcome.
But again, there is this thing called love. This nagging, all-consuming, emotion that no matter how hard we try to wish it away, we try to throw it away, we imagine it gone . . . it’s there. Calling to us. Leading us. Placing us.
Finn wrote letters. Molly read them. The healing begins. Healing does not mean one will reunite. It does not mean it fixes things, but communication is always the key to forgiving and forging forward.
Once again, Devney delved into the inner most stirrings of the soul. Once again, Devney gave us imperfect perfection. Once again, Devney blew me out of the water. Once again, Devney took me under her wing of prose and healed me. Once again, Devney stirred my soul. And once again, Devney remains my favorite author.
I’m in complete awe of Devney Perry’s ability to write such beautifully crafted love stories! Molly and Finn have taken up permanent residency in my heart and I’m sooooo glad Denvey gave us their story. I dove into Letters to Molly with an idea where I thought their journey would go, but was completely and happily wrong. I kept changing my mind about who was sending Finn’s letters and not once did I have it figured out. It will be fun to re-read Letters to Molly and catch all the clues I’m sure I missed the first time!
Ms. Perry has proven again and again that she’s a Master Storyteller.
In all honesty, Letters to Molly was only an anticipated read because it was written by Devney Perry. I came out of The Birthday List, not needing more from side characters (which is pretty rare if you know me. I’m all about the side characters!). I was devastated by what had occurred in The Birthday List between Molly and Finn. I honestly didn’t know if I could move on, which is why I wasn’t absolutely DYING for Letters to Molly.
But with every turn of the page, I was drawn in more and more. The words wouldn’t let me go. The story consumed me. I had to know what was happening. I had to know when the next letter would show up. I had to know what the letters said.
In the end, I loved it. It’s not my favorite Devney book but I loved it. Devney takes this divorced couple and gives them a second chance at love. It’s emotional and beautiful and the true definition of a page turner. Buckle up, because you’re in for one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride!
I read and LOVED The Birthday List but I wanted Molly to have her HEA! I was thrilled when I heard Letters To Molly was coming.
This story was PERFECT. It has angst y’all! But Devney Perry is great at ripping your heart to pieces and then putting it back together better than before. This is Devney Perry’s best work yet! The feelings she pulls from the readers and the healing that follows is beautiful!
Totally raw! I felt like I was holding my breath the whole book and I didn’t’ exhale until I knew how this was going to go. It tore me apart and put me back together in one of the best ways possible. Totally relatable, totally romantic, and this book had heartbreak and enough love to make you feel like you are being hugged. As with The Birthday List, the book takes you on emotionally and gives you not only a fantastic story that leaves its talons with you long after you have finished, but it also leaves you with life lessons that will no doubt leave an impression for years to come.
Letters to Molly is a book that once you pick, you won’t put down. This story is about second chances and how people can learn from their mistakes and grow. From the way Molly is characterized you can really feel what she does, from her love to her kids from how seriously she takes her career. This story is about Molly and how she feels about the letters Finn wrote to her (although he isn’t the one sending them), so you don’t see much of him in the story. Overall Devney Perry really did an amazing job with this book. Devney you are my favorite Author Love you so much
I am so glad Devney wrote Molly’s story! Loved Molly and Finn! I really loved their dynamic with the kids and always putting them first. A divorced couple who fight their way back to each other will have you rooting for their story! Can they have overcome all the obstacles in their path? Their story is truly heartwarming! 5 stars
Letters to Molly was one of my most anticipated reads for 2019. This book is Devney Perry at her best. She pulled at my heart strings from the very beginning. She broke me down and slowly put me back together. This book is full of heartache, a few laughs, some soft smiles and an amazing journey of self discovery and forgiveness.
Finn and Molly are souls mates who have lost their way from each other. This story gives you a glimpse of what was and what could be. This book opened my eyes. Made me stop and think. I loved every word, every comma and every period in this book!!
Thank you Devney Perry for giving us Letters to Molly. I wasn’t sure if I’d love is as much as The Birthday List but you showed me that you will always deliver and never disappoint me. This author has such talent and I’m honored to be able to experience it with each and every one of her books. One of my top-favorite books of 2019!!!
I loved this book. A true love story. Amazing book of love, loss and redemption. I couldn’t have asked for a better book. Amazing.
I love second chance romances, but second chance romances with the same couple is a no for me.
Devney made me change my mind and fall in love with a beautiful and emotional story. It’s my favorite read for this year so far.
The second book in the Maysen Jar series and it’s the story of Molly and Finn. Six years divorced, Molly and Finn love their kids and are amicably co parenting them.
But one night of too much wine and letters mysteriously showing up had this couple questioning past decisions and mistakes.
Going in this book I didn’t know how Devney was going to convince me that a second chance between them was worth it. But she did and at the end I was swooning and my heart was so happy for this couple.
It was so great to read about Bozeman and all those familiar and wonderful characters again.
“Watch out, Molly Todd. I just might have to marry you.”
STARS!!
It feels like I’ve been waiting and wanting this story for much much longer than the just over a year it’s actually been since I finished The Birthday List, but this was definitely my most anticipated read for this year, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
When The Birthday List concluded and Molly and Finn went their separate ways, I was upset, but I got it, I understood, marriage is hard and people make mistakes, they stop fighting for each other and start fighting against each other and there are things that are said and done that are unforgivable, but I had still been rooting for them from start to finish. You don’t get angry with, and you aren’t hurt by the actions of someone who means nothing to you, to be in the place Finn was in, you had to love someone so much that it was unbearable to think of Molly as anything but perfect.
6 years on and Finn has been dating numerous women whilst Molly has lived the penance she decided for herself after she made a mistake, solitude. A life spent working hard at the restaurant, taking care of her kids and doing things alone whilst they are at Finns house, and just existing, rather than living.
After a few too many glasses of wine and another mistake made, Molly wakes to find a letter in her mailbox. It’s not been sent through the mail and the writing on the envelope isn’t one she’s seen before, but the writing inside is a different story. This is a letter Finn wrote to Molly after they first met, it’s sweet, heartfelt and romantic and Molly has never seen it before in her life. After the second letter turns up, Molly confronts Finn asking why he’s sending them now, but Molly soon finds out Finn isn’t the one sending them, but who is? and Finn is even more scared as the first 2 letters might bring up happy memories, but he knows what’s still to come won’t end the same way.
I can’t say too much without giving too much away, but this story is the one I didn’t know was missing from my life until I read it, it left me in pieces because it was utterly perfect in its heartbreak and love and everything in between, but now it’s over and I wish I could experience it all for the first time again as it is a rollercoaster ride of angst, anger, hurt, forgiveness, healing and ultimately a forever love that’s stronger than ever. I never wanted this journey to end, but I’m so grateful Devney decided to write it, it was the perfect ending. This is a story I will read over and over to take in everything I missed and experience all the feelings again and again.
Let me just finish by saying, the epilogue to this story is one of the best I’ve ever read, I don’t think I’ve ever been crying heartbroken tears then burst into laughter at the same time. Absolute perfection!
