Molly Alcott didn¿t expect to open her mailbox one summer morning and find an old letter stuffed between bills and a supermarket flyer. Penned in familiar handwriting, dated over fifteen years ago, the letter was written to Molly after her first date with the man she¿ll never forget.
Week after week, new letters appear. Each marks an event in the history of their epic love affair. Each heals a … Each heals a wound. Each holds the confession of the man who still owns Molly¿s heart.
The letters are full of promise, hope and love, but truth be told, Molly wishes she could unread them all.
Because the man who wrote these letters is not the one sending them.

4.5 DARLING MOLLY STARS!
“Some mistakes were unforgivable. Some mistakes came with a regret that lived like a monster in your soul.”
Devney Perry writes so effortlessly that it’s hard to stop and not want to consume every word. This story was so heartbreaking yet healing at the same time. Watching these two souls who once loved each other separate and come together again truly warmed my heart.
Six years have passed since their divorce. Molly is at a place in her life where she’s content—business at the Maysen Jar is going great, the kids are happy, and her co-parenting relationship with Finn is stable. But, her heart still hasn’t healed.
Then one night, Finn and Molly’s finely combed life changes. Lines are crossed and an affair ensues. While Molly is hesitate, Finn wants more. Wants that second chance. Then the letters arrive.
“No matter how many days or months or years went by, Molly was still unforgettable. The best I’d ever had.”
Each letter represented so much emotion. So much history. So much pain. It forced them to address the issues they had in their marriage. The letters also allowed readers to see that Finn and Molly needed the separation in order to get where they are six years later and fix all the wrongs.
Letters to Molly is a second chance romance that will capture your heart. It’s beautiful and heartwrenching. It will hit you with so many feels all at once. Hands down, it’s a must read!
***4.5 STARS***
Molly and Finn Alcott. Finn and Molly Alcott. No matter which way you twist it these two will have you in knots as unsettled emotions are exposed.
After being divorced for six years, Molly is finally in a space where she is content. She’s upgraded Beluga—her trusty minivan—the business she manages is thriving, her kids are happy, and her and Finn have entered into a well-oiled co-parenting zone.
Finn is not the angry person he was in The Birthday List, the first standalone in the Maysen Jar series. Towards the middle of said novel, Devney Perry allows readers to witness Finn’s transformation which is related to his treatment of Molly. However, Finn breaks readers’ hearts when instead of telling Molly he wants to get back together—he reveals he wants to start dating. Six years later, Finn’s dating life hasn’t gone as planned.
One night the careful life Finn and Molly have been living is no longer intact. Lines get crossed and an affair ensues. Molly is skeptical and resistent to attempt a relationship that previously crashed and burned while Finn is steadfast in his pursuit and optimistic at the prospect of a second chance.
The letters start arriving. Each one possessing the ability to either fill you with the giddiness of first love or strip you bare with the rawness of emotion harbored in the words! These letters not only force Molly and Finn to address the downfall of their marriage but they give readers insight into the maritial issues that causes Finn and Molly to drift apart.
A second chance romance, Letters to Molly is a love story that is just as beautiful and heartfelt as it is ugly and heartbreaking.
This book was such an emotional read with great characters, humor, and so much heat!!! An absolute MUST read!!!!
Anytime a marriage fractures and falls apart, everyone involved suffers to varying degrees. Using Finn’s letters, Perry showed the gradual destruction of a great relationship swamped by real life issues. Instead of weathering the storm together, Molly and Finn drifted farther apart because a severe lack of communication. What was so interesting to me was the dialogue those same letters sparked between the two. Hindsight is the hazardous 20/20 of life’s choices, but I loved seeing Finn and Molly finally tackling their problems head on, rather then burying them in the sand.
Molly and Finn’s second chance story had so many feels! I loved the range of emotions from all characters involved, but the poignancy of the failed relationship is what drew me in. I simply didn’t know how Molly and Finn would end up! However, Perry’s ending was wonderfully done and the epilogue was extra sprinkles on a path hard fought! This was a great read!
Well, this is easily going down as one of my top favorites for 2019. I can’t say that I’ve read this trope very much and there was another element that’s my absolute NO when it comes to my reads. But I’m always willing to give it a chance when it’s an author that I love.
Finn and Molly’s story left me speechless. I haven’t read a story like this before, which makes it absolutely original. I simply loved every aspect of their tale, from beginning to end. Finn and Molly were the couple that had it all, but along the way life became more complicated and they weren’t necessarily finding themselves on the same page, anymore. And then one mistake lead to the definite end to their relationship. Even though I knew we’d get a happy ever after, it nearly didn’t feel like it would happen. These two had to dig through the past, through all the pain and hope to start anew.
I went into their story, blind. I wasn’t sure what would come out of it, but with every word that I devoured, my heart was going through the wringer as well. And it did, several times. Everything about their story was just real and relatable. From their hurt, the doubt and complete raw truth, it’s nearly impossible for this book to no affect you in some sort of way.
I’m seriously at a totally loss about what to even say about this book. It’s just perfect in every way, to see a couple who had it all, essentially living the dream to see it quickly crumbling apart. But even after several years apart, their heart is still yearning for one another. You can’t help but root for them.
There was so much growth with their characters and the letters brought the raw and honesty they needed during their marriage. There was love, lost, pain, forgiveness and the the absolute hope for these two to have their second chance.
The highest recommendations and well prepare to fall in love even more with Devney’s work.

Devney Perry
Devney Perry knows how to pull the heart strings with this emotional second chance romance!
I’m still reeling from reading Letters to Molly. I knew this second chance romance would be deep and meaningful, but I wasn’t quite prepared for the powerful feeling of hope that was also woven throughout this story.
Molly and Finn have been divorced for six years. They’ve reached a comfortable, co-parenting relationship. Life is quiet, smooth.
But life is also a bit lonely. Molly keeps busy running the business end of Poppy’s restaurant when she’s not running the kids. And Finn buries himself in his business too. But they’re both missing something—love and a relationship.
But neither one is really ready to move on, they both have significant issues to deal with from the past. And the only way they’re going to move forward is by hashing them out—communicating. Talking about their feelings. And actively listening—even when it’s hard. Even when they don’t want to hear it. Don’t want to talk about it.
At times, things get really ugly. Spurred on by the letters Finn has written to Molly. Those letters are raw. Real. Honest. But never sent. Until now. Until they’re found and delivered at random times. Anonymously.
I loved seeing Molly and Finn work their way back to each other. Work through their shared history. Their mistakes. Learning as they go, really sharing things instead of burying their feelings of love, hate, happiness, sadness, fear, faith, hope. Neither was ever fully honest with the other—until now. And it’s beautiful. And moving. And sexy.
And I loved every minute spent with Molly and Finn. I loved seeing their growth. Their realism in figuring out their roles in the breakdown of their marriage. Their devotion to each other and to really work through their past mistakes.
Letters to Molly is about true love, real life issues and honestly one of the best books I’ve ever read.
Very sensitive and yet very, very sensible… What a fabulous combo
Thoughtful in mood, Thought provoking in content and well thought out in plotting, If I can sum up the story in one sentence, it’d be – a tragic story between two life changing incidents.
It’s not the first and only story of Divorce trope or troubles of married life, But the uniqueness lies in the unexampled narration and plotting. This book has easily wormed it’s way in my favorite books list from this year.
This be my first book by Devney- what a cherry Popper!!
A sensitive story which could’ve easily gone wrong on so many levels, but it flew high and touched the sky.
The book starts on a flashback where Finn and Molly meet for the first time and are completely besotted at first sight. They’ve built this beautiful family and are perfect in facade
“Once upon a time.”
When my life had been a fairy tale. Before the glass slippers had splintered.
Next chapter jumps to a time long after the devastating separation.
One horrendous catastrophe destroys their marriage, their lives, their families, their peace. And the next one completely annihilates the leftover ruins from the first one.
“Some mistakes were unforgiveable. Some mistakes came with a regret that lived like a monster in your soul.”
You’d think that the couple who fell in love, remained in crazy love, so why did they separate and why were they miserable? And if they were so damn tormented wouldn’t it be easier to mend fences?
“What had caused our divorce? What had taken us from a place where all I needed to get through one of the hardest moments of my life was one glance at her?”
I was looking for culprits and Devney didn’t give me one! What she gave instead, was a PERSPECTIVE LENS and suddenly I could see and understand better, life and it’s convoluted arcs. It was nobody’s fault and yet it was an onus that both shared. They both loved deeply and forgot to fight for each other. They both trusted complicity yet both broke that trust..
“I’m ashamed of you.
I’m ashamed of myself.
You quit me.
And I quit you.”
What a mind-boggling dilemma and what an excruciating journey through the gauntlet of a marriage blown to smithereens. Devney skillfully navigates through the debris and manages to restore faith, hope and love where there wasn’t any.
It’s an introspective story. In the sense that instead of relying on an outside factor to wind up the story, Devney relies on internal monologues and deep buried, tiny ember of true love that somehow still exists in the ashes. The letters fan the flames and it roars back to life
The brilliant masterstroke was the wait. Generally authors are in a hurry to close up the deal, tie up the loose ends and race towards HEA and I’m left thinking, what happened to the charred emotions and broken promises? You can’t jump from discord to closure without addressing the issues in between.
“The past. It’s too heavy to forget.”
And THAT’S WHERE DEVNEY EXCELS!! No free get out of jail passes for the characters. She makes them walk on broken glass, let’s them bleed and forces us to watch- see this what happens when you hide and run away from problems.
I’m so enthused to have read such a mature writer who pays acute attention to ALL THE TINY DETAILS of her story. My sentiments were hanging by a thread throughout, I was anxious to find out how she’d resolve this crisis and what shall she make the characters go through to seek resolution
And who was sending the damned letters???? The ones that started it all!
Unsaid words, unspoken agony, unleashed anger….all came crashing down on them like a tsunami and washed the past and present away.
I’m so excited now that I want to jump in The Birthday List, which my friends are highly recommending. I want more of Devney Perry
So hitch a ride on this amazingly beautiful wagon that is Dream Of Finn and Molly!
Climb On Up, Darling
5 stars for mailbox stalkers
Devney Perry has shot up the list of my favorite authors with her deeply emotional writing, her interesting and unique characters and her consuming love stories. She crafts such richly developed stories, vividly describing all the little details that truly bring the setting, the story and the characters to life for her readers. She slowly peels the layers back on her characters in a way that gives the reader the chance to really get to know them. Weaving in a suspenseful thread to her storytelling, she brings it all together with intriguing, engrossing two-pronged plots where the suspense arc is just as compelling as the romantic arc. She pulls me into her worlds right away, and I hang on every word. Intense emotion paired with a realistic plot and relatable characters make hers the kinds of stories that not only capture my attention immediately but also hold it the whole way through.
An achingly emotional second-chance romance, Letters to Molly was about two lost souls, still deeply in love, wondering where their marriage went wrong, how they got to this place and wishing to be anywhere but there. Perry penned a love story that was heartbreakingly brutal at times, and magically beautiful at others, and I was fully invested in Molly and Finn’s story from the first page. While they have managed to get to a place of amicable co-parenting, they’re often choking on their emotions, pushing them down, wishing things were different. It’s six years after the demise of their marriage when Finn’s private letters to Molly begin to arrive. I don’t want to go into any more detail about them or this part of the story than I already have, it’s best the reader is as surprised by these letters and their content as Molly was, but I’ll just say that Perry delivered a storyline around these letters that was gut-wrenchingly intense, and my heart raced, ached, broke and healed within the pages of this incredible love story.
A complex, layered and deeply moving love story, Letters to Molly was bursting with emotion and punctuated with raw pain, harsh realities and hard-earned forgiveness. While there was definitely some heartache to be endured before getting to the happily ever after, Molly and Finn’s story was a heart-tugging journey about the complexities of marriage, overcoming past mistakes and learning from them. This story completely consumed my time and attention the entire time I was reading it, and I was utterly lost in the feels that Perry evoked from me. I yearned, I ached, and I healed for these characters, and this stunningly beautiful love story will stay with me for a long time to come. Five smooches from me for Letters to Molly by Devney Perry!
~Danielle Palumbo, Red Cheeks Reads
Oh my gosh! Devney Perry does it again! She takes a trope that I am usually hard set against and turns into a work of art that I can’t help but love! Letters to Molly is one of the most painfully, beautiful romances I’ve read.
Divorced, Molly and Finn have found a place where they can exist together with their children in a healthy and loving way. But one night after too much wine, they find themselves stumbling out of bed the next morning, both in turmoil over the night before. It should have never happened. They have the children to worry about. They can never let this happen again. Except it does. Repeatedly. And neither of them are fighting it.
”God, I never thought I’d get to see this.”
“What?” I whispered.
“You. Naked on my bed. More beautiful than the day we met.”
Rather than a book that shows the deconstruction of a relationship as it takes place, we are given letters that someone is mysteriously leaving for Molly to find. Letters written by Finn throughout the years of their marriage. Letters that force them to deal with issues they ignored while married. Letters that are both beautiful and heartwarming as well as sharp and painful. They highlight the beginning of love as well as the struggles this couple experienced and the slow erosion of their relationship.
”What had caused our divorce? What had taken us from a place where all I needed to get through one of the hardest moments of my life was one glance at her?”
I absolutely love Molly and Finn! Their’s is not a story contrived with outside drama that forced them into reacting in uncharacteristic style. It’s exactly what happens in so many marriages and how the individuals involved handle things when life gets sticky.
”The thing about divorce is, there isn’t always one mistake. One nuclear bomb dropped on a couple that destroys their marriage. Sometimes, it creeps up on you slowly.”
Letters to Molly was a deluge of emotion that caused my heart to soar from the joy and excitement of new love, before plummeting with devestation by the events life had thrown at Molly and Finn. I could not see how this couple could ever move forward from the past. However, in true Devney Perry fashion, she makes it work realistically and in ways I never saw coming. Add in an epilogue that left me smiling even as a sob choked it’s way in my chest, and I am giddily happy with the journey I’ve just witnessed.
“Ignorance was bliss, right? Knowing why he’d sent the letter now, why he hadn’t sent it back then, was guaranteed to sting. The truth was, I didn’t have the guts to bear that pain.”
What an emotional journey the author took me on in this story. Imagine having your heart broken all over again by having to relive the pain of the first time…along with the love.
I met Finn and Molly while reading The Birthday List and found myself very intrigued by their story. I felt the undercurrent of emotion whenever they were together and hoped that meant there was still something left to be resurrected. I was very excited when I learned they would get their own book.
Reliving their past, good and bad, was a painful experience for them, and me. We all believed that love that strong should be indestructible, but that’s not the case. Nobody is perfect. Mistakes can be forgiven, but not always forgotten. And some mistakes are so big that forgiveness is a hope, not a promise. What is so hard is to accept a life that’s not what you wanted. To give up on a dream that you still want. To let go…when you want to hang on.
Be still my broken heart. Like Poppy, I had trouble accepting Finn and Molly’s divorce. I wanted to lock them in a room together and refuse to let them out until they made up. And those letters, so much love in the beginning, so much pain later, I felt every word. The author really opened my eyes to some things I had not thought of previously. How easy it is to miss things right in front of you. How hard it is to accept what you can’t change. How important it is to protect love once you find it and hold on with everything you’ve got.
My oh my…
I waited for the Molly and Finn story to come out after reading the first in the Maysen Jar series…the Birthday List…and being introduced to their characters.
The story did not disappoint!! It has all the feels.
“Watch out, Molly Todd. I might just have to marry you.”
“Please say yes “
“You’re the most amazing woman I ever met”
“You’re the center of my world “
“I love her. Always have. Always will.”
“You’ve been dating for years.”
“Yes, I have. And not once have I taken another woman to bed.”
Molly made a mistake…5 second sex with another man. In Finn’s eyes…it was the unforgivable sin. Then the letters showed up and his true, raw and unedited, feelings were there for Molly to see. Reality became a palm plant … right to the face. Finn put his love for Alcott (his landscaping business) above his love for Molly and his family. He realizes this…6 years too late.
Finn needed to forgive Molly. Molly needed to forgive Finn. Before that could happen…they needed to forgive themselves. They needed to learn to love themselves as much as they loved each other. Finn came to this realization and became determined to win her back…set out to own up to his own mistakes and prove his love to Molly.
“We’ve been down this path. Too many times. We agreed it was better this way, so…there.”
“I changed my mind, he declared. I’ll change yours too.”
You will laugh, you will cry, you will be angry, you will rejoice…no emotion goes untouched in this epic conclusion to the Maysen Jar series!!
One of my best reads of 2019! A superb read!
Well done Devney Perry…well done!!
The Birthday List has been my most favorite story of Devney’s. With second chance romance being my favorite theme, I really think Letters to Molly has taken the top spot. I sit here finding it hard to put into words how I feel about this book. It was the most amazing journey of heart break, anger, grief, forgiveness, hope and love. The raw feelings of betrayal and hurt between these two was palpable. It had me in tears all throughout the book. The concept of Finn writing letters, never to be sent to Molly, was brilliant. Even more brilliant that someone found them and started sending them to her. And these letters, oh man. Let me tell you. They are the heartbeat of this entire story. I was on pins and needles waiting for each letter to be delivered. Wondering what it would say, how it would make Molly feel, and WHO THE HELL WAS RESPONSIBLE. Another amazing storyline, another incredible love story. These characters are the most lovable group. They make me laugh so much and give me all the feels. Exactly what I want when I dive into a new book. Thank you Devney Perry for your wonderful storytelling.
“I might just have to marry you”.
Finn and Molly had the perfect life and fairytale marriage, until they didn’t.
At one point they started failing their marriage, relationship, each other and themselves. These are two people who despite everything loved each other, but often love isn’t enough. They wanted to be together, so they worked hard for that to happen and in the end it was what needed to happen. They just didn’t need to find each other but themselves again and their time apart worked out for the best. Although I didn’t really connect with Molly, I felt deeply for and with Finn and what I loved most about this story was the mystery! It will keep you second guessing and on your toes till the very end!
As with many of Devney Perry’s books, Molly and Finn’s story had me experiencing a full range of emotions. To be completely honest, I was really really apprehensive about this book. I remember reading the Birthday List and just with the snippets we got of Molly and Finn’s history, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to handle it. But I have read every single one of Devney’s books from the very beginning and she has never steered me wrong, and in Letters to Molly it still holds true.
It has been six years since Molly and Finn’s divorce and they have reached the point of an amicable co-parenting relationship. On the surface they are both seen to have moved on, but with the appearance of these letters, we see their true existence. I really do not want to give too much away, but after each letter is read, old emotions of love and hurt are re-opened and causes a ripple effect to their relationship.
Letters to Molly is not just a love story, it is also about forgiveness, not just forgiving the other person but to really look into themselves and forgiving yourself. All throughout this book, you experience the love, the pain, the regret and the ultimate prize of healing. This was such a beautifully written book!
On a personal note, can I just say I really needed this book. I work in the Family Law Department (I work in the courtroom) and I just recently had to sit through another 2-hour trial where another long term marriage had been terminated and they were arguing about spousal support so we got the whole history of their marriage. Hearing these type of cases day in and day out, it starts to take a toll, so as tough as this story was, it also helped my heart a little.
Thank you so much to Devney Perry for giving me the opportunity to read and review this early copy (all opinions are my own). I absolutely adored every bit of it and highly recommend it.
5 “Please say yes” stars!! This book is undeniably beautiful and forces you to feel. The letters were so raw and honest that it actually hurt to read them, and I felt everything Molly felt. Two of the letters had me side eyeing and snarling at my husband accusingly (because I want love like that), one of them broke my heart all over again, a couple of them made me mad, and one just made me feel resigned. I routed for this couple, then I just wanted them to find closure, then I routed for them again. Molly and Finn are both great characters, and learning about their love from the beginning felt like a gift. If you read The Birthday List then you will enjoy the banter and friendship you get from Jimmy and Randall, and the love you can still feel from Poppy and Cole. I devoured this book from beginning to end and I couldn’t get enough!! This is a must read!!
Oh yes, read this book. Real life, real hurts and happiness. Thank you Devney Perry!
So I would give this book 3.5 stars. I started this book and put it down for a long while. I don’t know why but I had a hard time with it at first. When I started again I couldn’t put the book down. Love all the characters.
This book hit home for me. I am just speechless!!! Best book hands down!!
I can’t believe I waited so long to start this baby!! The Birthday List was so wonderful I did not think that Letters to Molly could even compare but I was wrong. Of course, I was Devney Perry always sucks me in to her stories.
Heartbreaking at times, sweet at others this story tells a story of true love for Molly and Finn. I do not want to go too much into this story because you should experience it for yourself. Molly and Finn have been divorced for close to six years and even though they both share the blame for their marriage falling apart they also still love one another just as much as before. Molly starts receiving letters that Finn wrote all those years ago, but he is not sending them. If not Finn, then who??
This book started off a bit slow and I was not exactly sure where it was going but as soon as you think something must happens it does! So much happens! Even with the slow start this is easily a five-star read that is not your typical romance and that was what made this story so powerful.
