The only thing it didn’t like about this book was a little grammar errors here and there. Other than that I loved this book it had sad and funny and great moments. The strength Dani had was inspiring especially through all she had to go through. I loved how Dani and Lincoln’s letters to each other started the middle of the story and helped her and him to overcome so much. Then came in her dad and Miller and they just made the book complete and great. I really loved all the characters in this book even Daniel and her twin brother who were both questionable at times in this story.
The beginning of this book had me wondering what I had gotten myself into. The sadness from the very start almost had me wanting to put it down. But, I had committed to reading this book for an honest review so I kept reading. This book was so beautifully written! Everything this girl went through, everything she lost, then the letters and starting to hope again. It all just wove together and formed this amazing story that left me with a smile on my face and a feeling of optimism that no matter what life throws at you, positive things can happen when you least expect them to.
Heart wrenching. This story shattered my heart then slowly started to put it back together before it stuttered and even stopped for a few minutes. It is intense but also has that inspirational aspect that comes from loss and grief, moving on and building yourself up again. It has some twists that were unexpected and some I had figured out, but I was hooked and so invested in reading that each surprise hit me like a sucker punch. This is emotional and deep but there is some light as well. A story that spoke to me and kept me enthralled, worth more than five stars, it left me with a book hangover all through the night. Well worth reading.
SPEECHLESS!! Tracie Porter is a New Author for me and LETTERS TO LINCOLN is BEAUTIFULLY & EMOTIONALLY WRITTEN!! I was a Blubbering mess after finishing this book and it has all the feels that will Leave you Speechless!
I have No Other Words to describe Letters To Lincoln but You WILL Need a Box of Tissues!
A DEFINITELY MUST READ BOOK and looking forward to read more of Tracie Podger’s Writing!!
After a lot of thrill a minute adrenaline rush books, where everything moves to fast to let you think, Letters to Lincoln is calming, sweet and a slow build to sexy romance.
The heat that bursts between Miller and Dani is breathtaking for that very reason.
I would love to see what else this author offers her readers
Dani suffered a tragic loss and lost her voice. She moves in with her Dad. She comes across a bottle on the beach and recalls her husband putting a letter in a bottle and throwing it out to the sea. So she does this, but imagine her surprise when the next day she finds the bottle with a response from Lincoln. The letters between Lincoln and Dani are cathartic and healing for both of them. They are able to write and reveal in the letter things they can not articulate out loud to anyone who knows them. Dani also decides she would like to renovate the old barn on her dad’s property and make it her house. Miller is a local contractor that they call, and he also ends up becoming the architect because he had some great ideas that Dani loved. Throw in a few more twists and surprises. This book has sadness, grief, pain, betrayal, love, loss, angst, and some very surprising twists in it. Be prepared to cry, laugh, smile and enjoy the growth of Dani and Miller. Dani’s dad ia a wonderful character in the story. Really not trying to give anything away because you really need to experience the book as it flows.
Letters to Lincoln was a hard book for me to review, athough I’m having a hard time trying to figure out why. For some reason, I just couldn’t connect with the characters. What Dani has gone through is just something I never want to imagine, and I found that the beginning of the book was wonderful. I cried (that’s a great thing!). I loved the letters that she and Lincoln end up exchanging- I felt that was a great way for her to deal with her grief. But for some reason still, I couldn’t connect with any of the characters (although I think I liked Dani’s dad the best).
I truly believe that this is a case of “It’s not you, it’s me.” I think most people will like this book, especially if you enjoy a good, emotional read. I liked Tracie Podger’s writing, so I will certainly consider other books by her.
I’m not really sure if I knew what to expect reading this story. Was it going to be a real tearjerker or weird? Having someone answer letters you send to your dead husband was off course a recipe for romance. It took me a while to get into this story and understand the characters. Dani had been through what can only be described as an incredible loss, so much so she can’t speak and can only communicate by writing on a pad. You do start to understand her grief and her feelings of guilt over the accident, but it felt very strange that nearly a year after the accident her father was basically allowing her stay that way and it took letters from a stranger to start the wheels in motion of Dani healing. It’s not long after that Miller enters her life, along with his brother Daniel. It also wasn’t hard to tell who was writing the letters to Dani, but i did find the various interactions between Dani, Miller and Daniel rather confusing, I think the story behind the brothers changed 3 times !! Add to that what really should have been the final blow for Dani and I questioned how anyone could even hope to move on without having resolved that issue (deliberately vague so as not to add spoilers). Some may feel this a real tearjerker in places, and usually it doesn’t take much to make my eyes leak but they remained dry but I didn’t feel that the emotions really came through strong enough for me. None the less it was a good read which i did enjoy.
An emotional read for sure, a unique twist form the normal read contemporary romance. Dani losses her husband and her pregnancy and finds herself writing a letter to her husband to help with her grief. But someone finds her letter and answers, that is what the book is based on. Interesting and sad, I liked the book, I’m still a bit on the fence about how much, perhaps I wasn’t quite in the mood for this much emotion.
Letters to Lincoln has been on my tbr list for awhile now, and I’m so glad I finally got to read this heartbreaking, slow burning, emotional, second chance story. This is the first book from this author I have read and I liked the way she writes her stories, she drew me in tears and all from the first page till the end. My heart hurt for Dani, she had so much to deal with, and the surprises just kept coming. Her dad was one of the good ones, he was so supportive. Miller knows all to well, what Dani is going through. Two strangers pour out their feelings and thoughts in letters, and in return get the support they need, and a different perceptive to start healing.
This one had a slow start for me; it took me a while to get into the story and the characters. For me, the tragedy right at the beginning of the story was hard to appreciate because I didn’t know Dani nor had a connection to truly feel the pain of her loss. Eventually, I did feel a stronger connection to her, but it took a while.
I enjoyed the letters Lincoln and Dani exchanged, how they bared their souls to each other.
Overall, the story was a good read, even though it played out slowly then rushed through the ending.
Wow. This is my first time reading this author and I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this story.
Dani wakes up to find out that her husband and daughter did not survive the car accident.
Grieving and having to face an new and unwanted life she goes back to stay with her father. As a way of coping she begins writing letter which are answered by Lincoln.
When she starts to price her new life together she discovers who is answering her letter.
This is an emotional and amazing book. The depths of the feeling that it evoked are hard to explain. Amazing journey that requires tissues.
This is my first time reading anything by this author and I’m in awe! Letters to Lincoln made me ugly cry and then made me laugh. I will be following Tracie Podger so I can read more from her.
Wow, wow, wow, just wow. This book had my emotions on a roller coaster ride. Love, despair, anger, hate angst, and so many more emotions. A real tear-jerker. This book will leave you emotionally wrecked but in a good way, lol, if that makes sense. First time reading a book from this author but definitely not my last. Fantastic book and highly recommended.
Letters to Lincoln by Tracie Podger is the first book I have read from this author. This was a really emotional read. It will break your heart and then make you smile. I really enjoyed this contemporary romance and look forward to reading more from this author.
This is a story that will stick in your memory for quite a while after finishing it. Loss. Grief. Betrayal. Anger. Fear. Joy. Hate. Love. This book contains it all.
10 Amazing stars!!! This book was epic! This is my first read from this author and if she continues to write like this let me tell you it definitely wont be my last!!
Letters to Lincoln is an absolutely riviting, mind blogging, page turner and a tear jerker! This book is one that will stay with me for a very very long time! I could not put it down, it pulled me in and some parts shattered my heart in a good way! Boy oh boy what a plot twist! That hit me smack dab in the face, i was so not looking for that!
Dani had the perfect life, a doting husband and a little baby on the way.
Christian, her twin brother, is happily married and he’s also expecting a bundle of joy with his wife Helen.
Daniel is the seemingly level headed parish vicar.
His brother Miller is the talented but “troubled” architect.
Then there’s Dani’s dad, Miller’s dad, and always-in-the-know neighbour Collette.
And lastly, “Lincoln” the letter writer. Every single character in this book played a very significant role. Some parts of this book may be sensitive as it deals with loss, love, forgiveness and moving on. I really enjoyed reading this
This is one of those “ugly cry” books. You’ll need a big box of tissues right from the start. Dani was in a car wreck and lost her husband and premature daughter. She is now staying with her father and has been unable to speak since leaving the hospital. She writes a letter to her husband and puts it in a wine bottle one day and goes back the next day to find the bottle and a reply from a man named him Lincoln. They start exchanging letters and Dani starts to heal. She also meets a carpenter, Miller and his brother, Daniel, the vicar. There are lots of secrets revealed and more heartache and hopefully love.
Fantastic book. Crying from the begining. This story was emotional and had so many twists. Loved it.
Slow mover
This book was not what I expected in a good way. It will make you ugly cry and be rooting for Dani and Miller to move forward. It is definitely a great read but it is English dialect in spots.
