From a USA Today bestselling author
Burned-out software engineer Jake Martin and his Golden Retriever, Fred, live in a mountain cabin far enough from Denver to escape the rat-race but not far enough to escape its crime. While remodeling an old house he uncovers a stack of love letters that will turn his world inside out.
When word of the letters gets out, people start dying, including the owner … dying, including the owner of the house Jake was remodeling. With his main source of income gone, he lets his friend and neighbor, Bonnie Jones, talk him into searching for the killer after they are offered a large retainer. The problem is the person who hires them is the major suspect.
With the help of Fred and Bonnie, Jake continues to find more evidence that his new employer is trying to create a smokescreen to divert attention from himself. Will the trio of amateur detectives be able to stop the murders, or will they become the next victims?

a little disjointed….did not hang together.
How two flawed characters solved a series of murders with the help of one adorable dog detective. Nice.
Interesting premise…I would have enjoyed more if the characters had a little more detail. I felt that their was a stretch to induce a ‘thought’ of romance with him and other female characters. Why? Or, why not flesh it out a little or back it up with something that explained the unreasonably quick attachment or ‘thought’. That whole direction seemed unnecessarily forced. Silly even.
It was kind of slow
I like this series, this one included. A good read.
A funny, entertaining mystery with a good dog story.
It was a great book.
I enjoyed reading it
I enjoyed this book. It was easy to read but held my interest. I wanted to keep reading. The characters are not as developed as they could be, but are adequately described. While the ending isn’t exactly predictable, it is also not surprising or shocking. However, it was a fast and easy read. I already have the next book in the series and will be starting it soon!
Love reading about Fred, Jake and Bonnie ! Their adventures are entertaining and easy to read . Found myself having trouble putting this book down .
I wanted to like this book but it just had too many leaps, gaps, and unrealistic behaviors to overlook.
COULDN’T PUT IT DOWN.

Delightful! Characters were great! Kept wondering the whole time, who done it?! So enjoyed!
The ending wound down very quickly. Characters could use more detail. Storyline was fresh and original.
Plenty of twists and turns in this mystery, providing excitement until the end.
