From a USA Today bestselling author
Burned-out software engineer Jake Martin and his Golden Retriever, Fred, live in a mountain cabin far enough from Denver to escape the rat-race but not far enough to escape its crime. While remodeling an old house he uncovers a stack of love letters that will turn his world inside out.
When word of the letters gets out, people start dying, including the owner … dying, including the owner of the house Jake was remodeling. With his main source of income gone, he lets his friend and neighbor, Bonnie Jones, talk him into searching for the killer after they are offered a large retainer. The problem is the person who hires them is the major suspect.
With the help of Fred and Bonnie, Jake continues to find more evidence that his new employer is trying to create a smokescreen to divert attention from himself. Will the trio of amateur detectives be able to stop the murders, or will they become the next victims?

good read
Worth reading.
I gave the book three stars because although I enjoyed the dog, the rest of the characters didn’t manage to engage me. I don’t want to imply that the author isn’t a good writer; I think it was just that the hero and his sidekick just missed the likeability mark for me. Just a matter of tastes, I’m sure, and others might find them more to their liking.
Kept me interested. Liked the setting.
I always enjoy the “……..to Die For” series. Love or hate the characters but they are memorable
Enjoyed
Enjoyed another story with Jake, who is always struggling to make ends meet and finding himself in another mystery. Good storyline.
Great series, especially for dog lovers.
Love this writer. A great who done it!
The characters of Bonnie, Jake and Fred are believable. Interesting plot with a few curves. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
Meh
Heartwarming
Good book, the characters are different from your normal sleuths.
This is a good book with good characters and a good plot.
Just a n ice lite read. Loved it.
Some times the truth is right in front of you.
doesn’t grab your interest
It is a good read; not heavy and yet holds one’s interest. I would definitely read more by this author.
I really enjoyed this book.
I will definitely keep my eye out for other works by this author — a well-written story that I could sink into and lose myself after a stressful day at the office. Keep them coming!
