From a USA Today bestselling author
Burned-out software engineer Jake Martin and his Golden Retriever, Fred, live in a mountain cabin far enough from Denver to escape the rat-race but not far enough to escape its crime. While remodeling an old house he uncovers a stack of love letters that will turn his world inside out.
When word of the letters gets out, people start dying, including the owner … dying, including the owner of the house Jake was remodeling. With his main source of income gone, he lets his friend and neighbor, Bonnie Jones, talk him into searching for the killer after they are offered a large retainer. The problem is the person who hires them is the major suspect.
With the help of Fred and Bonnie, Jake continues to find more evidence that his new employer is trying to create a smokescreen to divert attention from himself. Will the trio of amateur detectives be able to stop the murders, or will they become the next victims?

A great read.
I love this series and I highly recommend it. Fred, the golden retriever, is of course my favorite character but the humans are something to wag your tail about too. I’m recommending this book instead of the first book, A View to Die For simply because this is my favorite in the series but really, you can’t go wrong with this best selling author.
I love this book series! Jake, Bonnie and Fred are great characters. I look forward to the next book in the series.
I thouroughly enjoy this authors style and have read I believe all in the series (so far!) Waiting for the next!
I have read this author a few times and I find the mysteries to be light hearted and intreiging.
short
It was an k book but a little slow in spots.
I enjoyed the whole series.
I had a hard time reading this and having it grab my attention. Was disappointed
Loved all of these books!
Wonderful cozy mystery with interesting characters and enough twists and turns to keep it interesting and pages turning.
I enjoyed the mystery of the letters and you are rooting that they can find the answer to the mystery. I was wishing I had time to sit and continue reading to get all the answers, A little disappointed with the end as it seems the ending was a little rushed to get the end finished but it was still a good book.
Very fun read!
Good, easy to read
enjoyed authors style story line/characters realistic with some humor in their telling of their situations Maybe possible happenings ???
Very good book.
Part of a series that would have been better if I read it from the start. OK cozy that was a good fill-in book.
Jake, Bonnie, and of course, faithful dog Fred made for a delightful mystery.
This was one of the more poorly written books I’ve read in a LONG time, I read 2-3 books a week so I do have a basis for comparison. There are several characters however there are 2 who are close friends and see/talk multiple times a day, yet the author has the main character saying the friends name in almost EVERY conversation i.e. are you hungry Bon (Bonnie) want to go to XYZ Bon, Bon are you going to drive or am I Bon?
Literally used her name over 900!! times ina 204 page book, was torture to read, I always waited for her name to be used and lost focus of the book
Enjoyed all six of these books in the series and hope that there will be more in the near future.
