Other than his teammates, Jack Richards doesn’t open up about himself to anyone. His past is titanium clad shut. But when the war-torn hero thanks a shy schoolteacher for all the care packages, she unknowingly ambushes his heart and threatens his future. Thrown into a dangerously hot unchartered territory, he can either give in and surrender to her or pullback and retreat…there are no other … options for this warrior.
Skylar Sinclair isn’t expecting Chief Richards to be godlike gorgeous or a womanizer. Not falling for his Southern charms, she wants the man she met in his letters, the wounded Navy SEAL behind the good looks and uniform… behind the armor.
Chief Jack Richards was featured in A SEAL’s Vow & Flowers for A Hero, Book 1, Heroes Homeward Bound Series.
Now here’s his story…

Letters To A Hero by Tara L. Ames is the sweet love story of Skylar and Jack. Skylar teaches third grade and has been sending care packages and letters to Jack for the past year, after he was injured in a grenade blast. Jack is a Navy SEAL who returns home unsure where his future will take him after recovering from his devastating injuries. One of the only things that have brightened his days are Skylar’s letters and he is more than happy to meet her and her class to show his gratitude. There is an immediate attraction between Skylar and Jack which he would like to pursue, but Skylar is a nice Southern girl who already knows of Jack’s womanizing ways, and she isn’t eager at first give him a chance.
Skylar and Jack’s story is a heartfelt, slow-burn romance. There is a touch of mystery and suspense with some twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I really enjoyed seeing how Skylar and Jack’s relationship changed both of their outlooks and took their lives in a direction that neither one could have imagined when they wrote those first letters to each other.
A must read!
Pen pals have never been so sexy. A lovely happily ever after where the power of the written word gets a featured role, and wins the hearts and minds of all.
Tara L Ames has always been one of the voices that I really enjoy.
Looking forward to diving into this one!
Such mixed feelings for this story at the beginning. Skylar seemed to be so misunderstood by her mother and friends. But thru the power of the written word, Jack seemed to “get” her. I really enjoyed Jack and Skylar “getting to know” each other. Made for some awww and laughable moments. It was just an enjoyable story all around with a twist in there!
