The #1 New York Times bestselling (mostly true) memoir from the hilarious author of Furiously Happy.“Gaspingly funny and wonderfully inappropriate.”—O, The Oprah MagazineWhen Jenny Lawson was little, all she ever wanted was to fit in. That dream was cut short by her fantastically unbalanced father and a morbidly eccentric childhood. It did, however, open up an opportunity for Lawson to find the … open up an opportunity for Lawson to find the humor in the strange shame-spiral that is her life, and we are all the better for it.
In the irreverent Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, Lawson’s long-suffering husband and sweet daughter help her uncover the surprising discovery that the most terribly human moments—the ones we want to pretend never happened—are the very same moments that make us the people we are today. For every intellectual misfit who thought they were the only ones to think the things that Lawson dares to say out loud, this is a poignant and hysterical look at the dark, disturbing, yet wonderful moments of our lives.

This gal may be suffering from mental illness as well as a number of other maladies, but she is hysterically funny! I’ve read both her books and enjoyed them.
It was refreshingly original and entertaining.
great book
I thought that anyone who could come up with chapter headings that were that hilarious had to be a good read. And this is. I love her penchant for inserting photos of stuff just to prove it really happened. She’s a hoot, and gives me hope for my own weird and lovable daughter.
I laughed so hard a couple times I had tears and snot pouring down my face
Hilarious! Laughing so hard I couldn’t speak!
I loved this book! Jenny Lawson os am inspiration to everyone who’s ever struggled with or loved someone with mental illness. She os honest and hilarious- an unexpected combination that works beautifully.
Funniest book I’ve read in a LONG TIME
This book is relatively funny… a few laugh out loud moments. It reads like a bunch of blog entries (not surprising the author is a blogger). I’d recommend it if you need something to pass the time that doesn’t require any brain power. It gets a little sentimental in very cliche ways… definitely a few wrinkle-your-nose-and-gag moments, too.
I’ve read this book at least three times and it never fails to make me laugh.
A truely funny read. You will return to this book more than once. Some of the stories are favorites to read aloud at my women’s weekend campout.
I had to stop reading this n the doctor’s waiting room. It was hilarious.
I have never laughed so hard when reading a book. Such a wonderful read!
I thought this book was hysterical. Jenny is one unique lady! And poor Victor! Read it. It’ll make you laugh.
I laughed so hard my husband worried I would have a stroke. Brilliant!
This was my first introduction to Jenny Lawson. A friend of mine sent it to me as a must read and I’ll admit I was a wee bit leery considering the cover image. But I pushed past and I am so glad that I did because Jenny Lawson unlocked something inside me with this book. She made me feel a little bit less alone in the world and isn’t that something we all need right now? She has a way of turning the craziest, most absurd, this can’t happen to anyone else kind of stories into something relatable. I recommend this book and all of her books to everyone I know now. My only suggestion is not to read this book while on a plane because when you snort laugh multiple times in an enclosed space, you’re bound to get some worried looks from people worries about your sanity. Or hey, do it. It could be fun.
So many times throughout this book I found myself laughing out loud. Highly recommend. Must read with an open mind that we are all unique.
Jenny Lawson’s book is much like her blog: weird, funny, and straight to the point. She thinks like I think, she’s a little crazy and she puts it all out there. I realize her writing may not be for everyone, but I loved this book. If you can, listen to her read it on the audio book!
Without a doubt one of the FUNNIEST books I’ve ever read.. Jenny is seriously twisted in a good way. Anyone whose mind views things just a bit off center and dresses dead stuffed animals in weird costumes and gives them strange names (James Garfield, Beyonce, etc) is my kinda person. It’s rare to find an author who that has you laughing out loud in nearly EVERY paragraph, so my hat’s off to Jenny for achieving this. That said, her blog is funny but not nearly as hysterical as the book. Can’t wait to read “Furiously Happy” next.
A funny, sometimes silly and heartfelt memoir that made me laugh out loud in the airport – everyone was staring – I love this book!
