The #1 New York Times bestselling (mostly true) memoir from the hilarious author of Furiously Happy.“Gaspingly funny and wonderfully inappropriate.”—O, The Oprah MagazineWhen Jenny Lawson was little, all she ever wanted was to fit in. That dream was cut short by her fantastically unbalanced father and a morbidly eccentric childhood. It did, however, open up an opportunity for Lawson to find the … open up an opportunity for Lawson to find the humor in the strange shame-spiral that is her life, and we are all the better for it.
In the irreverent Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, Lawson’s long-suffering husband and sweet daughter help her uncover the surprising discovery that the most terribly human moments—the ones we want to pretend never happened—are the very same moments that make us the people we are today. For every intellectual misfit who thought they were the only ones to think the things that Lawson dares to say out loud, this is a poignant and hysterical look at the dark, disturbing, yet wonderful moments of our lives.

One of the best I’ve read! If you have anxiety, depression, chronic illness, and/or a sense of humor, read this book!
This is a non-fiction book about the life of the author. She writes about her father who was an eccentric taxidermist and her childhood. She takes us through her life growing up and getting married and having a family of her own.
This book was hilarious. There is no other word for it. I died laughing on about every page, and read several pages to my husband. I have read a lot of serious books, and okay books, so this was a nice change. She keeps her life story light, and you find yourself shaking your head in disbelief. I love sarcastic humor, so this book was right up my alley. There is a lot (a lot) of language so consider yourself warned.
One of my favorite all time books and authors. As much as I wanted to devour the book I paced myself because I knew how sad I’d be when I reached the end and no longer had this to look forward to reading before bed. Although I’m sure my husband appreciated me finishing it because I woke him up on multiple occasions because I truly could not contain my laughter.
This, well really ALL of her books are freakin’ fantastic! When I’m down, I can grab this book and feel better pretty soon. I strongly recommend it!
One of the most amazing books I have ever read!
I love that she takes her worst fears and weaves them into laugh until you cry stories. Everything she touches is from the heart.
Jenny Lawson, is perhaps the funniest writer, I have had the pleasure to read. Way over the top, with foul language and not for the easily offended. Her personality and strange family come through with bright and shiny colors. Love them all.
Absolutely hilarious! I was so sad when it ended, I quickly scooped up her follow up book!
Funniest book I’ve ever read. A bit off-beat, raunchy, and irreverent. Loved it!
Very entertaining read!
Absolutely insane. Ruthlessly wild. Terrifically awful. Oh, wow, she actually wrote down all of those thoughts. No, no, even worse. SAID them. No, WROTE them. I did get a kick out of all the editor’s notes and footnotes. Ha. Hilariously disgusting, I guess. Wow. Never read a book that used, um, body parts (see, I’m not the type who can even TYPE them in my review, and she types them all over the place, and says them in real life, and on her blog, evidently…I don’t read blogs, only books) And I had to read every page, and the afterward or whatever, but at the same time it’s like do NOT let my kids read over my shoulder at all, or ah, what if my MOTHER knew I read this book? Dude, it’s crazy, but…she’s not kidding. She is straight up not even kidding, so it’s great…kind of. Awful, but great. If you don’t read all of it read like the beginning at least.
Somewhat difficult to get through, but insightful.
I am more understanding now of my friends with anxiety issues
Hysterical read! Just what the doctor ordered!
This gal may be suffering from mental illness as well as a number of other maladies, but she is hysterically funny! I’ve read both her books and enjoyed them.
It was refreshingly original and entertaining.
great book
I thought that anyone who could come up with chapter headings that were that hilarious had to be a good read. And this is. I love her penchant for inserting photos of stuff just to prove it really happened. She’s a hoot, and gives me hope for my own weird and lovable daughter.
I laughed so hard a couple times I had tears and snot pouring down my face
Hilarious! Laughing so hard I couldn’t speak!
I loved this book! Jenny Lawson os am inspiration to everyone who’s ever struggled with or loved someone with mental illness. She os honest and hilarious- an unexpected combination that works beautifully.
