I loved this book!! Maurie is absolutely amazing! Her life growing up was beyond difficult, but she worked hard and became a strong, successful woman. She is so inspirational! Grant is dealing with difficulties in his own life. He is an incredible, loving dad. They are both kind, caring people that deserved to find happiness. I fell in love with both of them! Their connection from the past added so much to the story. And their present day chemistry was off the charts! I also loved Trent! He is adorable!!
I received a complimentary copy of the book, which I voluntarily reviewed. I have given my honest opinion.
Let’s Begin Again (2019) by Heather B. Moore is the seventh book in her Pine Valley series. This book comes in all forms including eBook, and is 230 pages in length. With a full-time job and a busy six-year old at home, this book took me two days to read. I received a copy of this novel in eBook form from Mirror Press Publishing via Kathy at Clean Wholesome Romance/ I Am a Reader. In no way has this influenced my opinion of the story. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. I give Let’s Begin Again 4 STARS. This book is a Contemporary Clean Romance.
Let’s Begin Again is a sweetly satisfying contemporary romance filled with endearing characters and a plot that keeps the reader happily turning pages well past bedtime. This is a light and easy read that could be completed in a sitting or two, and will definitely leave the reader smiling.
Maurie and Grant, the main characters of Let’s Begin Again, have known each other since childhood; and both, unknown to each other at the time, had really big crushes on one another. Something really awful happens to Maurie when she is 17 and she is forced to leave Pine Valley. Ten years later, Maurie moves back to Pine Valley in order to expand her business. When Maurie and Grant see each other for the first time, it is immediately apparent feelings are still there. Man, do sparks fly!!! I very much enjoyed watching Maurie and Grant’s relationship rekindle and grow into something mature and real. I definitely rooted for them the entire time.
Grant, is a divorced father. His ex-wife is a handful and will often play Grant by using their son, Trent, as a bargaining chip. Grant is reintroduced to Maurie and quickly realizes that a real relationship built on mutual respect and love is possible. Knowing full well the baggage each one carries, Grant and Maurie become an item. It may be an odd thing to say, but I appreciate the way this story shows a divorced parent trying to navigate a demanding ex, a young child, and a burgeoning romance. I found this aspect of the story to be very well written, quite realistic, and a reminder of my own family. It is often illustrated that blended families don’t work out so well, but that has not been my experience. In my personal experience, the family that was created the day my mom and step-father married is, to this day, the healthier, happier, and more loving family, and this is the case with Grant, Maurie, and Trent. I liked seeing my experience with my blended family reflected in this fictional world. It made this story a little more endearing.
Let’s Begin Again is a sweet addition to the Pine Valley series. One I highly recommend! If you are looking for a sweet, clean romance that’s fast-paced, highly engaging, and a bit steamy then this is the book for you.
I listened to this as an audiobook a year or so after reading it as an ebook. I enjoyed it every bit as much the second time!
Let’s Begin Again by Heather B. Moore (4.5 stars)
A wonderfully well-written romance with characters whose lives aren’t perfect and who deal with and have dealt with trials and hardships but have come out stronger because of them.
The two main characters and all of the side characters feel like they could be people you know and I love that about this novel. No billionaires, or Regency Lords, or arranged marriages, just everyday people and their love. (Don’t get me wrong, I love all three of those genres, but this felt refreshingly normal. I suppose that why I have been enjoying the Pine Valley series so much!)
There’s a lot of kissing and attraction, but there’s also connection and history behind the character’s, interactions so it doesn’t feel like insta-love. Heather B. Moore excels at weaving her stories in such a way that we can see how the characters complement one another and we can, as readers/listeners, feel confident that the relationship will last.
Narrator: (5 stars)
Ms. Sands is among my favorite narrators! Her voice is smooth and velvety and her expressions make the characters come to life. She has to do a kid’s voice in this book and I felt that she did wonderfully with it. In my opinion, kids voices are a real test of a voice actor’s talents, and she made that little boy’s voice sound like a little boy. Well-done, Ms. Sands!
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
A beautiful entertaining small town romance. This entertaining well written storyline includes obstacles, hope, healing, manipulation, misunderstandings, craziness, family, ups and downs, conflict, and struggles you seemed to really feel. I loved how challenges are overcome by working together from wonderful well developed characters, that have amazing sweet attraction and chemistry. The narration was incredibly done bringing even more light to a great story.
My thoughts on this book/audiobook:
• Let’s Begin Again is a very entertaining small town novel. I love reading about Pine Valley and all the inhabitants living there.
• The writer’s words painted clear pictures that helped me to visualize the scenes and the emotions of the characters.
• Maurie and Grant were believable characters. I wanted their romance to succeed and that they could overcome their problems.
• This was a clean read and I appreciated that.
This was an enjoyable listen/read and the narrator was amazing. Xe Sands effortlessly switched between the different character voices. Her male and female voices were equally good.
At my request, I was given a free copy of this audiobook from the author. I have voluntarily left my review and my opinions were my own.
I love this series. The stories all connect, but don’t connect. It took me awhile to get on board with that idea, but I’m totally enjoying these characters. Maurie is back in the town she was forced out of and ready to start fresh. Grant is broken and not looking for love, but love has plans for him in Pine Valley. I love this town! Maurie is such a great character and I saw so much growth and determination in her personality that I just had to admire her. And can we talk about Grant? Yes please. He is like the hot handyman with a sensitive soul. Absolutely loved him. This story has plenty of heart, a bit of laughter, a mean girl, swoony man, and the best friend you gotta love. All of this makes for a great read. I was able to read it all in one sitting and thank goodness for that because I love me a great happily ever after!
What an inspiring book of two souls that were meant to be together. How touching that Maurie’s life came full circle when she returned to Pine Valley and fate intervened with Grant Shelton showing up to help renovate the house she inherited from her mother. I loved the characters and the story line. It touched my heart for everything Maurie had been through and how she was able to have strength to overcome and move on from what she was put through in her childhood. I like that this is a story about small towns. .This is a great series with wonderful characters! I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Maurie and Grant are both likable characters. They each had a crush on the other that had lasted 10 years, but had never dated and hardly spoken to each other. I could understand Maurie’s better because when Grant thought no one was home, he would do their yard work. During their time apart Grant had had a disastrous marriage and now has to share his son with his ex-wife. (Joy’s doesn’t live up to her name at all!) Maurie went to a loving foster home and then started her own successful business. Trent, Grant’s son, is adorable and his interactions with them adds depth to both Maurie’s and Grant’s characters. Taffy, Maurie’s friend and employee, is a hoot and adds touches of humor to the book I didn’t like the passionate kissing on the 2nd day of Grant and Maurie’s relationship. It didn’t seem true to either character. I did like the care and concern that they showed each other as their relationship progressed. I found Let’s Begin Again to have an emotionally satisfying ending. I would read more of the Pine Valley series and hope that Taffy gets her own book.
Maurie and Grant have both had a hard life, Maurie especially, but the way they help boost each other is beautiful. I loved their story! Grant is such a great guy. I loved his caring attitude and patience with Maurie. This was another great addition to this series. I hope Taffy gets her own story too, can’t wait to read it.
It’s such a pleasure to return to Pine Valley again to revisit old friends who feel like family and make new friends. Maurie returns to her hometown after leaving in shame years ago. Her mother did things to shame herself and Maurice left in embarrassment. She’s now back and meets up with old friend Grant, there was never a romance when they were teens but with all the time they spend together now with him doing construction work on her house is there a possibility of it now?
When Maurie is able to let go of mental baggage that is weighing her down it is freeing to her.
I look forward to another visit to Pine Valley soon.

Let’s Begin Again is the seventh installment from Heather B Moore’s Pine Valley series. I have enjoyed this series and this one does not disappoint. I instantly felt a connection to Maurie. I could understand and relate with her. I loved her and Grant. They had great chemistry and so fun together.
I am giving Let’s Begin Again five plus stars and highly recommend it for readers who enjoy well written, clean and quick stories.
I received this book from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
Pine Valley is a place I wish I could live! Everyone that I’ve “met” during the Pine Valley series has been wonderful! In Let’s Begin Again we meet Grant, and the whole Shelton family, and Maurie Ledbetter, a girl who left Pine Valley under heartbreaking circumstances, and is back years later, starting her own business, and trying her hardest to get over the past, and begin anew.
Moving into the house she grew up in brings back a lot of memories for Maurie, and when she decides to do a complete renovation she is shocked to find out that Grant Shelton, her high school crush, is the man who is doing the renovation. What happens next brings on a lot more change that Maurie could’ve ever imagined.
In many romances, there are storylines that are unrealistic, but you don’t find that in Let’s Begin Again. Every character feels like they’re a real person, and you can see everything in their world. I love Heather’s writing style, and I love how everything flows so flawlessly. The story itself is a wonderful premise and I especially fell in love with Trent, Grant’s four-year-old son. Adorable!!
This was undeniably one of my favorite books in the Pine Valley series and I can’t wait to see who will meet in Pine Valley next!
Maurie Ledbetter’s childhood was dysfunctional and one night in high school, her whole life was disrupted and she found herself in foster care. 10 years later, she is back in her childhood home, trying to move on from those memories. Part of that effort is to have the house fixed up and updated. Yet, when none other than Grant Shelton shows up to do the job, she wonders if it’s possible for him to be part of the healing.
Grant Shelton remembers that fateful night that changed Maurie’s life all too well. So, when he realizes that the new job is for her, he tries to resist. After all, he’s got enough problems of his own to deal with. But, as he gets to know Maurie, he realizes that he needs her in his life, but he’s got to come clean about what he knows. The question is how she’ll react. Will she be willing to be a part of his life when she knows the full story?
What follows is a story of two people who have their own personal struggles with dysfunctional relationships and overcoming those to create a new, healthy relationship together. Part of that struggle is facing the past and forgiving those who caused pain.
All in all it’s a good story. I think that Maurie & Grant’s past as well as life experiences made them relate well to each other. Unfortunately, I felt that there were still too many unanswered questions at the end and I think the romance with the kissing was rushed too soon and too often, leaving me wondering what was the basis of their affections for each other.
Romance – steamy PG – lots of kissing
Language – PG / mild cursing
Violence – PG – past references to drunkenness and violent outbursts
My rating – 3 stars
The people in Pine Valley feel like a family. In each new book I see favorite known characters and meet new charming people. Each of the books in this series can be easily read as a stand alone. Relationships from the other books are not revealed or exploited.
This is a kind of a second chance story. Maurie and Grant knew each other as kids. But circumstances didn’t give them the chance to become something more and life drew them apart. Now, 10 years later, they meet again and old feelings resurface. Each of them has been through a lot and is afraid of being hurt again. But could there be healing and a new begging for them both? Added to that is the fact that Grant has a confession to make about his role in Maurie’s past.
I met Grant in Finding Us. He was such a cute sidekick there struggling with his love life, or more correctly the efforts of his family to set him up and see him happy. Now it was great to find the perfect woman for him and read his romantic story. His four year old son, Trent, was adorable and one of the main reasons I liked this book. Maurie’s friend, Taffy, was also a fun character and I’m hoping her story is next.
This book was sweet, gentle and heartwarming.
Narrative: 3rd person, following Maurie and Grant
Sensuality: some innuendo and toe curling kisses
Religion: none
This was a quick, fluffy read. Not a lot of depth in the storyline or the characters. Although Maurie had a lot of baggage. Her interactions with Trent were cute. She overcame quite a bit and rose to be a success. I’ll read the other books in the series, but I probably wouldn’t read this one again. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
