Lethal Secret – Cavendish & Walker Book 4more
Another taut, twisty, page-turning read in Cavendish and Walker’s latest case. Highly recommend!
Once again Sally Rigby takes me to the edge of my seat! Her books keep getting better and better. In this episode the storyline could have been ripped right out of the headlines. George gets a great part in this book, read to find out what that is, lol, no spoilers here.
All of the books in this series are first rate mysteries that will have you hooked from page one. For those who have not read any of the series, just dive in. The author does a great job of bringing the reader up to speed right away so that any book can also be a stand alone.
Can’t wait for more! I received an advanced reader copy of the book but this is my own honest opinion.
This is the latest book in the series starring DCI Whitney Walker and forensic psychologist Dr Georgina Cavendish. They are investigating several murders of young woman that look like suicide and may have been written off as such if our duo had not been on the case. Something seems off so Whitney investigates and finds a connection to the Wellness Centre, a new-age center outside town that hosts yoga and classes such as smoking cessation that seem to have remarkable results. Things look suspicious but they are getting nowhere until Georgina decides to infiltrate by attending a smoking class. Of course Whitney’s chief isn’t too happy about involving a civilian but Georgina insists since she wants to quit smoking anyway. Her class doesn’t exactly go as planned but the duo gets the answers they need to solve another case with an unexpected ending. I love this series of books and look forward to more. I wish to thank the author for allowing me to read an advanced copy. Well done! I like it even more than the last one.
Sally Rigby has done it again in her latest installment in the Cavendish and Walker crime series.
This one was a little bit different than the previous books, but no less exciting to read. I found the content very interesting, and didn’t quite figure out the antagonist until the end.
As in the other books in the series I loved that no matter how different their personalities, Whitney and George make their friendship work, as well as getting the job done.
Excellent book. I got an ARC courtesy of the author and this is my honest review.
This is the fourth book of DCI Whitney Walker and Dr. Georgina Cavendish. Whitney gets called to a suicide after meeting a new guy at choir practice. Because of the sharp eyes of a young female officer who worked two other very similar suicides over a two-week period and the excellent work of Claire the pathologist, it’s re-classed to homicide. Claire reviews the previous two ‘suicides’ and discovers shoddy and incomplete work by a locum (a doctor who fills in during vacations, etc.). Walker and Cavendish now have several murders to work. Through a great deal of background checking, they discover a link between all three women, the Wellness Spirit Centre. Is it just a retreat to lose weight or quit smoking, a yoga studio, or a cult and who gains from the death of these young women? You must read it to find out. Another great book. I received an ARC from the author for an objective review and because of timing; I skipped from Deadly Games, #1 to Lethal Secret, #4 without a problem. I truly enjoy this pair up and will go back to read the other two books ASAP.
Previous books in this series have explored the psyche of the killer, this one examines the psyche of the victims as well. Another distinct addition to Cavendish and Walker’s story showcases Rigby’s versatility as a writer.
This page turner is pack with secret upon secret – there is no shortage of motives or potential unsubs. Just when you think you’ve got it figured out another wrinkle is added to the story.
Glimpses into Cavendish and Walker’s personal and professional lives outside of the case add depth and interest to the story. It has been interesting to watch these elements develop as well, and not always in the expected ways.
This is book 4 in the series, but can be enjoyed as a standalone.

I really enjoyed this! Sally Rigby did it again! The relationship between Walker and Cavendish is getting better and better all the time. This story line delved into the world of possible cult life. Very interesting! Keep them coming Sally!
As in her other books Sally develops a story full of twists and turns with an unexpected ending. Characters and situations well created. The book is easy to read and makes you keep on wanting to read the next one!
When in a matter of weeks 3 young girls commit suicide by hanging, a rookie policewoman notices a number of similarities in all the cases. Whitney is put on the case and she discovers that all 3 girls had links to a local wellness retreat/yoga studio. Is one of the ‘novices’ or guru involved in murdering their students? And why? Detective Witney teams up with her friend, the forensic psychologist George in order to solve these crimes. She has a lot on her plate in this book; juggling her policework with keeping in touch with mother and brother who both live in care-homes, her boss loads her up with his own work as he’s having family problems, and at one of her choir rehearsals she meets a new man and they seem to get on well. I don’t like the guy very well, there’s something off with him selling high-end food supplements (good cover for a drug smuggler or something similar?)
I absolutely loved this story. The friendship between the two women has been beneficial for both of them and they are comfortable with each other’s good and bad characteristics. The story is very well constructed and the case is solved with good old fashioned police work. A realistic picture of how the police work. No genius CSI miracles or shootings and car chases at every other page are needed here. I look out for the next book already.
I received a free ARC from the author and this is my own honest opinion and review.
As a member of the ARC team I was fortunate enough to receive an advance copy to read and review.
Once again Cavendish and Walker are on top form. I love how the story keeps one intrigued, not only with a great storyline but with characters who are so real that by book 4 they feel like old friends. I want them to capture the bad guy as much as I want them to find happiness and contentment. Well written, once again.
I wasted no time in getting into this one. I have followed this series and read each one. The murders in here are large but they first appear as something else. Whitney and Georgina investigate again have us right by them so we can seek the clues also. These two have a good rapport so it is a delight to read the suspense and everything that goes with it as the two get through it. They hold your interest so much because of the reality of what is unfolding that you forget and loose track of time. Wonderful crime drama.
Three murders that were posed to look like suicides. All of them were posed in similar fashions. A wellness center that is in the center of the investigation. DCI Walker is investigating when a fourth murder is discovered. George, a criminal psychologist, that works with the police signs up for a course at the wellness center to stop smoking. She uses a different name to not risk them finding out who she really is. The novel has twists and turns to keep you guessing.
Lethal Secret, the fourth novel in the Cavendish & Walker series is a great police procedural filled with suspense. As a police detective and a forensic psychologist team up to find a serial killer amidst a tight-lipped cult, this novel will keep you in suspense until the very end. A few red herrings and plausible suspects keep you guessing in this wonderful mystery. This was my first novel by Sally Rigby, but it will not be my last. I look forward to going back and reading the first, second, and third in this series. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
I was lucky enough to have gotten a ARC copy of this book from the author. I am volunteering to leave this review. Fantastic book plenty of twist and turns. You will keep guessing till the end.
Sally Rigby astounds me! How can a person consistently write such twisty, page turning, edge of your seat books? If you are a psychological thriller can you will love this book! Enjoy!
