This Romantic Suspense has an intriguing storyline. Cade and Grace go undercover to get the president’s daughter out of a cult. The cult is a nightmare from Grace’s past. Lethal Redemption is an interesting read with good characters.
Great addition to the Steele Ops series. This book hooked me from the start. Loved how Grace and Cade were able to work through their past to find a future together. Can’t wait for the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley.
Lethal Redemption by April Hunt is book Two in the Steele Ops Series. This is the story of Cade Wright and Grace Steele. I have read the previous books but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Grace is a FBI Profile agent who works hard to help others and her job. So when she is requested to help the Vice Presidents daughter who has ended up with the same Cult that Grace escaped from she goes forward to do so. This also puts her back with Cade a man who she loved but they broke up and now she has to pretend to be with him again. This was a very exciting read that touched your heart with a second chance romance.
Loved it!
A very fast moving story! This is the second book in the series about the Steele Op group. FBI profiler Grace Steele is called in to help extract a women from a cult but she has to go under cover with Cade the man that broke her heart. Plenty of adventure and a few tiwsts to keep you going! there was also a extra book in this one called Extreme Honor by Piper J Drake that was really good reading as well. look forward to reading more of her work as well.
Cade and Grace’s story is a well written fast paced book by April Hunt. The characters are solid with enough drama and suspense to hold your interest to the end.
FBI profiler Grace Steele has a new mission – she needs to rescue the Vice President’s daughter from a Cult. More specifically a cult that she grew up in for the first 13 years of her life – Order of the New Dawn. To help her on this mission is no one other than Cade Wright, the one person that Grace does not want to spend any more time with.
Grace and Cade were the best of friends and then eventually childhood sweethearts, but they haven’t spent much time together in the past 9 years. I loved Cade and Grace’s chemistry right from the beginning of this book! There was so much sexual tension between Cade and Grace and I was here for it. I loved the way these two obviously cared so much about each other, even though they had so many issues that they needed to resolve. And did I mention that Grace is a badass heroine with plenty of sass (always my favorite type of heroine).
The New Dawn aspect had me so creeped out. And I’m pretty sure that was the purpose. I can’t imagine growing up in a place where you are so brain-washed into believing whatever the “Father” figure tells you to believe. I enjoyed the fast paced action and was rooting for Cade and Grace to get in and out of the compound safely.
Although this was book #2 in the Steel Ops series, I had no problem following along with the plot or characters. If you’re looking for a second chance romance with sizzling sexual tension, witty banter and added suspense that will hook you in from the first page then this is your book!

4.5 stars
After meeting Grace and Cade in Deadly Obsession, I couldn’t wait for their story! These two are clearly meant for each other, but some serious unresolved issues have them at each other’s throats more often than not.
Grace spent her early years living in a cult, but when she escaped at the age of 13 she found her real family with the Steeles and their neighbors the Wrights. Cade became Grace’s safe place, and their relationship eventually took off until one thing got in their way: his decision to rejoin the Army Rangers for another tour of duty without talking it over with Grace or giving her any explanation 9 years ago. That decision led to a lot of pain for both of them and Grace is determined that he will never have the ability to hurt her that much ever again.
Cade knows he made a huge mistake all those years ago and he will do anything for a second chance with the one who has owned his heart since he was old enough to understand the concept. He is the only person who comes close to having a full understanding of the trauma Grace suffered at the hands of Order of the New Dawn, but even he doesn’t have the full picture. Now the VP of the United States is asking Steele Ops to infiltrate OND to rescue to his daughter, and he wants Grace’s help to do it. The thought of returning to that world terrifies and nauseates her but if there is a chance that she can save even a single person from that madness, she has to try. Having Cade at her side will be both a blessing and a curse in her mind, but the benefits quickly outweigh the negatives.
The tension and conflicting emotions jumped off the page, and I found the OND aspect of the story to be fascinating as the two characters did what they had to in order to get the job done and survive with minimal emotional damage. Grace is a strong woman with some vulnerabilities, but her attitude had me smiling and laughing many times along the way. Seeing them finally break through the doubts and hurt inflicted by unspoken questions as they finally laid all their cards on the table was very well done. Lethal Redemption was a great story with action, heat, and humor and I am already looking forward to the next book in the series!
Talk about a fast paced, suspenseful novel! Non stop action and I loved the second chance romance. More books need hero’s and heroines like these! Great job! Will be stalking you now!
I’m so glad that I grabbed this book. It’s a keeper as far as I am concerned.
I really liked April Hunt’s writing style. The descriptive way she wrote things is easy to feel the power of the words. They often made me smile and it flowed without being cheesy. I continued to enjoy the story because of it’s strong emotional and action intensity. The story really pulled me in as it got more and more intense.
I couldn’t have asked for more interesting and complex main characters. Even the relationship between Grace and Cade had layers to it.
Grace’s male cousins have Grace and Cade’s back in this “adventure”. They are all smart, big, strapping guys who are mainly ex-military in some form or another. They love Grace and she loves them in a kind of huffy way. The guys also have a healthy respect for not getting on her bad side. Which also leads to some funny conversations at times.
It was quite an intense roller coaster ride. But watch out for that sharp turn towards the end if you’re on board. That twist was unexpected. Something that I never saw coming. I don’t like actual roller coasters but this story gets two thumbs up from me.
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
LETHAL REDEMPTION is the second instalment in April Hunt’s contemporary, adult STEELE OPS romantic suspense series focusing on the Steele family. This is thirty year old, FBI profiler Grace Steele, and thirty-two year old, former US Army Ranger / police officer Cade Wright’s storyline. LETHAL REDEMPTION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Grace and Cade) LETHAL REDEMPTION follows the second chance relationship between thirty year old, FBI profiler Grace Steele, and thirty-two year old, former US Army Ranger / police officer Cade Wright. Seventeen years earlier, Grace Steele escaped the rigid controls of the Order of the New Dawn, a cult of which her mother remains an active member. Upon her return to civilization Grace was raised by her Aunt Cindy alongside her cousins: former Army Ranger Knox Steele, retired Navy man Liam , retired Marine Ryder and US soldier Roman, and together they formed Steele Ops private security.
Nine years ago Grace had her heart destroyed when Cade Wright, the man with whom she believed she would spend the rest of her life, walked away without looking back, a man who now works for her cousins at Steele Ops Security. As a top FBI profiler Grace Steele will be called in, alongside Steele Ops Security, to help rescue the daughter of a high-ranking government official, a rescue that places Grace back into the world of the Order of the New Dawn (OND). What ensues is the rebuilding friendship and romance between Cade and Grace as they must pretend to be in a committed relationship, as the team devises a plan to get in, extract and rescue a young woman, from the Order of the New Dawn, who doesn’t want to be rescued.
Cade Wright has never stopped loving Grace Steele but duty called, and Cade found himself dedicating his life to the US military. Believing he would be a detriment to Grace Steele’s career, Cade watched from the sidelines as the woman he loved became a stronger person because of the actions of our story line hero. Grace Steele was destroyed the day Cade Wright walked out of her life, breaking her heart and breaking her soul. Forced to work with Cade meant facing the demons that took away her childhood years, demons that continue to haunt our story line heroine.
The relationship between Cade and Grace is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people whose lives went in opposite directions only to be pulled together by a mutual cause. Cade Wright always believed Grace would be better off without him in her life; a battle between head and heart, Cade walked away losing a part of himself in the process. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Grace’s mother Rebecca Steele, and cult leader Teague Rossbach; former CIA agent Rhett Winston and his son Todd; Vice President Pierce Brandt, and his daughter Sarah; as well as Sarah’s boyfriend Simon; several members of the OND, and Cade’s father retired Army Genera Hogan Wilcox. We are reintroduced to the Steele Ops team: former Army Ranger Knox Steele and girlfriend Zoey Wright (Cade’s sister and Grace’s best friend), retired Navy man Liam Steele , retired Marine Ryder Steele, and US soldier Roman Steele, along with their mother Cindy.
The world building follows the rebuilding relationship between Cade and Grace, as well as the ongoing camaraderie between the Steele brothers, their cousin Grace and friend and fellow agent Cade Wright.
LETHAL REDEMPTION is a story of family, friendship, betrayal and love; a story of power and control ; of manipulation, revenge and redemption. The suspense filled premise is engaging and entertaining;; the characters are colorful , energetic and captivating; the romance is seductive and hot.
This is a first read for me by April Hunt. I really enjoyed this book. Great characters, and main couple with 2nd chance romance also has a story with good suspense. Such a page turner and I look forward to more!
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Lethal Redemption is book two in the Steele Ops series. It is Grace and Cade’s story and can be read as a standalone.
Grace is a tough, take no prisoners, FBI agent. Her next op takes her back to DC where her family and her ex, live. There is a lot of history between Grace and Cade and they didn’t exactly end on good terms. She’s forced to work with him again when her cousins security firm request her help to rescue the Vice Presidents daughter from the very cult Grace walked away from when she was 13.
Cade grew up with the Steele brothers and dated Grace for many years until they parted ways. He’s newly hired into Steele Ops just as Grace returns to work with them. He may have been the one to walk away from Grace, but things aren’t always what they seem. You don’t really learn the full truth of what happened with them at first but you can tell from the very beginning that Cade never got over her. However Grace is not feeling all warm and fuzzy to be forced to work with Cade.
As far as second chance romance goes, this is the type I like to see. The fact that Cade never got over Grace and actively pursues her, makes up for him walking away all those years ago. I’m a sucker for a guy-chase-girl story. I also really liked how tough Grace was. She can handle her own and I love that in a heroine.
Overall, for my first book from April Hunt, this was a good one to dip my toes into. Grace’s cousins, the Steele brothers, seem like they will provide very entertaining books of their own. I will definitely be reading more in this series.
We are back in DC with the Steele clan and a story filled with suspense, dangerous people, a cult and of course romance.
Grace Steele, an FBI profiler, is the cousin the Steele family took in when she was thirteen after living in a cult where her mother took her. She escaped and has overcome many obstacles but those years are still part of her.
Cade Wright , best friend of the Steele family, was her rock from the moment she moved in with the Steele’s and is the man she’s always loved. But he left her behind nine years ago , and the pain and distrust still lingers.
When Steele Ops, and Grace are asked to help rescue from the same cult the daughter of the vice president, Cade and Grace are forced to work together .
Will they be able to save the girl and in doing so, find their HEA or will they lose their last chance of happiness?
Though I am partial to book one in the series, this one was still a very good story and one worth your time.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Forever. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Lethal Redemption by April Hunt is a romantic suspense novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It also explores the nature of what makes a family. I really enjoyed this story it gave me a lot to think about. Hot guys, strong women and some thoroughly bad individuals give you a heart pounding escape.
Extreme Honor by Piper J. Drake features hunky men, dogs and a good mystery. This book rocked! Hope’s Crossing kennel provides a second chance for abused working dogs and the former military guys that run it. Atlas is a special case. He is a hero dog who is suffering because his handler was killed by “friendly fire” as requested Atlas is sent to Hope’s Crossing with secrets on his shoulder, David is determined to find out what happened to Atlas and his handler. The last thing he needs is a pretty subcontractor distracting him. But Atlas responds well to her and well so does David but the closer they get to the truth the more danger they are in. I really enjoyed this fast paced romantic suspense. The characters are multi-dimensional and hard not to like. The author makes you feel for them and for Atlas. The story is loaded with surprises and keeps you enthralled.
Lethal Redemption is the second installment in the Steele Ops Series by April Hunt and works amazingly well as a standalone. The first book was a 5 star read for me and this definitely delivered for me with all the suspense and the romance.
This story follows Grace Steele, an FBI profiler whose history as a teen involved joining and escaping a cult called the Order of the New Dawn. Now, she is called upon to help the daughter of the Vice President. The mission is to pose as a couple with Cade Wright, who broke her heart many years ago. Grace is a character I loved – she is strong, no nonsense, and of course, it is a bonus that she has a gun named Magdalena – I am sold!
April Hunt is the queen of writing these romantic suspense genres that will keep your nose in the book, heart racing for the mystery and romance, and all while keeping you at a constant thrill to the very end. It is a fast paced read and highly entertaining. You will definitely enjoy the chemistry between Grace and Cade. I cannot wait for the next installation of this series. April Hunt is an auto buy author for me. I love reading her writing, which is flawless and highly addictive.
I’ve been enjoying these characters, and this series so much! This is book 2, and it’s a second chance romance.
Grace Steele grew up, from age 13 on, as the only girl in a family of boys. Her Aunt Cindy took her in, along with Cindy’s 4 crazy teenage sons, Grace’s cousins. But from age 5-13, after the death of her father, she lived with her mother in a cult. Those years are still painful for her to think about, and she’s locked it all away for years. Now, she’s an FBI agent, and profiler, and she’s been tasked with rescuing a VIP’s daughter from the very cult she grew up in. Now all her bad memories and feelings are returning, along with another thing from her past, her childhood sweetheart turned heartbreak, Cade Wright.
Cade Wright works with his 4 best friends in their private security firm, Steele Ops, doing jobs the government and military can’t, or won’t, do. Before that he worked as a D.C. detective, and before that, he was an Army Ranger. 9 years ago, when he signed up for another 4 years in the Army, without talking about it with Grace first, and ruining all the plans they had for their future, he lost her, and he’s regretted it every day since. When the case comes up that’s forcing her to revisit her painful past, he insists on being right there with her, both to help her heal, and watch her back during their undercover op. He’s also determined to make her want to give him a second chance.
Cade and Grace had always had mega chemistry, even when she was acting like she hated him, and I loved their dynamic. I have a love/hate relationship with second chance romance. It usually has SO MUCH ANGST, but this one didn’t have a ton, and I was thankful. There had been so much time in between, plus they both really had to be focused on the case, and always looking out for danger, so I guess that kept it from being overly dramatic. Additionally, part of the main drama came from them both finally getting honest about their pasts, both as a couple and individually, in order to truly move on. I appreciated their connection, and I loved their banter.
Cade and Grace both have awesome families, and I loved any time they were all together. Grace’s cousin Roman will be the hero of book 3 and I can’t wait for that story! He’s so grumpy, and surly, and I love it. Getting to see the other new employees of Steele Ops was fun too. Tank is so great, and I would love to see him get his own story one day!! I liked that there was a little more closure here between Cade and his long-lost father, General Wilcox, Steele Ops’ benefactor. I felt that was left pretty open-ended in book 1, after Cade and his sister Zoey (the heroine of book 1) found out about their connection to him. I was glad to see that resolved more completely.
The suspense plot was exciting, and you were always waiting for everyone in the cult to find out Grace and Cade’s true intentions. It kept me on my toes, and I was always waiting for the fallout. Most of those poor people were so scarily misguided it was just sad. Of course, many of them had turned downright evil in order to comply with the wishes of the community, and it’s leaders. It was an interesting look into cults and brainwashing, without getting overly technical. Grace really understood these people, having been in the cult herself, and she also knew how best to reach them, with her understanding of psychology and the human psyche, as a profiler. I loved watching Cade follow her lead, and be happy and proud that she let him have her back. They were awesome together.
I really enjoyed this story, and I’m looking forward to dropping back into this world again for book 3!
I loved this romantic suspense from a new to me author. It stands alone just fine, but know it is part of a series, I do wish I had read the first one first, because, spoilers! I liked all of these aspects, the FBI and military, second chance, cult… So much to like and I was hooked and spellbound from beginning to end. I’m going to go back and read the first one and then on to the others. This is a steamy romance.
This is the second book in April Hunt’s Steele Ops series and I have to say that I liked it a lot more than the first. I felt the lead characters were deeper and well-rounded than the first. Grace and Cade’s story is a second chance at love kind of story. Grace is a Steele cousin and an FBI agent. She is brought in on a case to work with Steele Ops. She and Cade find themselves going undercover and the case is connected to Grace’s past.
Lots of action. Grace was a take-no-prisoners kind of agent and kicked ass. Cade was caring and protective, but not in a domineering alpha kind of way. He knew she could take care of herself. It had a sneak peek of the next one and I will definitely be watching for it!
The chemistry between Cade and Grace completely combustible…With intense drama to a marked wittiness this book will check all of your box. April Hunt really delivers you a must read book!
