Once again I’ve started a series at the latest book instead of the first. Fortunately this particular series is only three books in so it’s won’t be too hard to catch up. Yes, I know, I do this all the time and I just can’t help myself.
This book is centered on Ilya Dragonovich ‘The Dragon’ and Emma Jane Preston. They have an undeniable attraction to each other, even though she is a soft-hearted and forgiving person and he is far more than just a bad image.
Emma has just been through a nasty divorce, her ex-husband doesn’t like to be denied acting more like a spoiled child than a man.
However breaking into Emma’s house which she almost lost because of him goes way over the line. The only reason it’s still hers is Ilya has designated it a safe house for Brute Force Security. As such the security has been upgraded and that’s how he’s caught. Ilya is not happy with that turn of events.
One of my favorite things in this book is Ilya’s dragon tattoo. It covers scars on his face and to Emma it has a personality all it’s own. I giggled more than once over her observations and Ilya’s response to them.
There is a lot of tension, action and suspense as Ilya makes decisions to protect Emma and there’s plenty of heat as well.
I definitely need to catch up on this series before there’s another book.
This was awesome! Full of action, adventure and lots of sexy times. I love Ilya and Emma Jane! Emma Jane isn’t a strong female lead in the normal sense but she’s strong in her own way. I love the story and how it brings things together along with characters from previous books. I loved it and Ilya’s Dragon tattoos. So perf e t! I hope there will be more to this series. I really enjoyed it so far.
Lethal Nights is the third book in the ‘Brute Force’ series. I found this book to be suspenseful, fast paced, with the right amount of drama and steamy sexy scenes. I liked the heroine, Emma Jane, I felt she is a strong character with an enjoyable personality. The hero was an interesting character, Ilya aka Dragon. I’m not one for face tattoos but, I found the description of Ilya’s to be interesting and possibly even sexy. The attraction between these characters was instant. Which had to be put on hold due to the fax that Emma Jane was married… to a “donkey” and getting a divorce but to her she was still married until the papers were finalized. Then four years later Emma Jane finds herself, without giving too much away, in a danger. This brings Ilya back to her door to protect her.
I do enjoy reading books by author Lora Leigh and Lethal Nights did not disappoint. I enjoyed the playful side of Emma Jane, especially when it came to the dragon tattoo on Ilya’s face and the protective side they both had for each other. I am questioning the clan Ilya is a part of, the dragon clan, it sounded a bit paranormal to me. Good thing I love paranormal!
***I voluntarily reviewed this ARC for an honest review via NetGalley, this is my honest opinion and has not been influenced by the author, St. Martin’s Press or NetGalley in anyway.*** Thank you!
I enjoyed this story of Ilya and Emma Jane more than I thought that I would. Even though Ilya had a horrific start in life, he still had a touch of humanity, especially when it involved Emma Jane. Again, my only complaint, if you would call it that, is the hazy feeling of danger that the reading audience is unaware of but seems like we’re supposed to. It’s different than the suspense of what’s going on with Emma Jane. This wouldn’t keep me from reading any future books from Lora Leigh and I do look forward to reading, hopefully Alexi’s story.
The heat between Ilya and Emma Jane was blistering. Their passion undeniable. I felt a bit lost with some of the characters but I think that is only because I didn’t read the other books in the series. I’ll assume that anyone reading the books in order will not feel that way.
Emma knew of Ilyas’s reputation and knew that she should be afraid of him. But she wasn’t. And even more surprising, he indicated that he had an offer for her. She decided to listen and then negotiated an agreement on her terms. In addition, Emma and Ilya formed a bond. So when danger surrounds Emma and attempts are made on her life, will Ilya be able to convince Emma and her family that he is the best one to keep her safe?
This is a new to me author and the third book in this series. Ilya Dragonovich (yes that is the main character’s name), originally I thought this was a shifter story, but it is so much more. Russian Mafia, gypsies, bad exes, psycho family members and interesting friends abound. There is substantial heat, the tattoos, background story and romance, make this an excellent read.
*I received an arc from Netgalley & publisher for an honest review*. The is the third book in the Brute Force series by Lora Leigh & it features couple IIya & Emma Jane. It was a great entertaining read & you won’t be disappointed! It can be read as a standalone but would recommend reading books 1 & 2 first. I’m looking forward to the next book!
Lethal Nights book 3 in the Brute Force series is fast paced, full of suspense, drama and a whole lot of steam. From the first moment Ilya sees Emma Jane, he knew automatically what she would mean to him, he was intensely attracted to her and already feeling possessive. Emma Jane was in the process of divorcing her no good, selfish and immature husband and since still technically married, would not act on their mutual attraction. He leaves her for her own good, but when she is placed in danger, all bets are off.
Lora Leigh never disappoints with her books and Lethal Nights is no exception. The chemistry between Emma Jane and Ilya was explosive and the suspense of who the bad guys were definitely kept me on toes. I did get a bit confused with all the references of the dragon clans, but it did not take away from how intense the storyline was. What I also really enjoyed was the humor included in this story. I loved Emma Jane’s commentary regarding Ilya’s dragon tattoo, there were so many moments I was smiling and laughing. It was actually really cute.
All in all, another great read to a great series.
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.
The Dragon has found his mate!!! Ilya Dragonovich is heir to a powerful dynasty, part of the Russian mafia he also has many enemies. Emma Jane needed help and little did she know she would end up in danger. Ilya will do anything to keep her safe. I’ve been reading Lora Leigh’s books for years and this one did not disappoint. Lots of action and suspense to keep the pages turning. Super intense Alfa males and sex scenes hot enough to scorch the pages. Keep em coming
Oh man, Dragon is my new favorite in this series! Emma may seem like she is meek and timid but she has a backbone of steel! She is able to put the Dragon in his place and this story is a web of a man fighting his past and his future. I love how this author is able to make the most alpha and seemingly cold man into a fiery passionated and protective mate. This is a story of “who done it”, the heat that Lora Leigh always brings, and visits from beloved characters from books past. You won’t want to put it down!
This is Book 3 in the Brute Force series. Even though this is a series, you can read this book as a stand-alone book and have no problems understanding what’s going on. I thought this was a great story! Ilya Dragonovich has helped Emma Jane save her home. Dragon expects Emma Jane to be scared of him but she shows him that that is the last emotion that he will get from her. There’s no way that she’s going to be scared of him. She calls him the Russian Lothario and she knows that is the perfect name for him. Then someone tries to kill her and he rushes to keep her safe. The chemistry between them will keep you hot enough to melt ice cubes. And trying to figure out who is trying to kill her will keep you on the edge of your seat. There’s so much that we don’t know about Emma Jane’s Dragon! You will be so surprised at everything you read. There’s something in this book to keep everyone interested from the first word until you read the last word. I don’t think Lora Leigh can write a bad book. They just keep getting better and better. I can’t wait to read more books in this series. They are all fantastic books! I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley.
Ilya is a Romanian gypsy, an assassin but now works in security. When Emma Jane’s bedroom is shot up, he comes immediately to protect her. He has scars on his face that is covered with a dragon tattoo. Ilya is the heir to the dragon clan because his father was killed by his mother. Emma Jane is divorced and about to lose her house until Ilya’s company pays off the mortgage and are going to use it as a safe house. But seeing as she wasn’t put in the system yet, Ilya believes whoever is trying to kill Emma Jane is because of him. Someone has found out what she means to him and they want to destroy him by killing her. Can they find out his after her before they finally kill her and will Ilya opens his heart to her?
Good story with suspense, sex, and action. This is the third book in this series.
