Sometimes love can be lethal….Chuck moved to the great state of Kentucky to become part of Bluegrass Security and test his mettle. When he is asked to take on a more dangerous role in the firm, he’s more than ready to get down and dirty. That is, until he has to tell a curvaceous beauty that her son is a thief.Widowed beauty salon owner, Nita Brown, isn’t looking for love or drama, but then a … drama, but then a sexy hunk of a security guy walks into her life. Unfortunately, he isn’t bringing good news, and she’s caught between protecting her son and telling the truth – a truth that could get them all killed.
Working together could help mend the wounds from their pasts–if they can stay alive to enjoy the future.
“This book was originally released in the Chandler County series as Missing Desire. To better reflect the genre, the cover and series title have changed, but the content remains the same.”

What a wonderful story. PJ Fiala has a wonderful way of putting words together that pulls you into the story making you feel like you are actually there.
Nita is a beauty salon owner, a widow for 8 years, mother of 2 daughters in college and a very troubled son. She’s thinking that she will be alone for the rest of her life, when she meets Chuck for the first time.
Chuck is a transplant from Nebraska. He never would of thought he’d be working at a security firm. He does have to prove himself as an investigator. His first case is to find out who’s hurting dogs and dumping them on the side of the road. He realizes he needs a haircut and goes to Nita’s House of Style, where he meets Nita for the first time.
Sparks fly on both sides but neither is sure of the other one, making for an interesting situation.
Will Nita accept her feelings for Chuck and tell him about her son, Dax’s problems?
Will Chuck finally act on his feelings for Nita?
This is my honest opinion on the story.
3. Book 3: Lethal Love: 4 stars
I purchased a copy of the steamy short novel Bluegrass Security book 3: Lethal Love: Nita and Chuck aka Missing Desire by PJ Fiala and this review was given freely.
Action, danger, violence and love at first sight. Two survivors of abuse find love only to nearly lose it to drug abuse.
Middle age widow, mom of three and curvy owner of Nita’s House of Style, Nita finds more than love when she becomes a victim during Chucks first case.
18+ recommended as this novel contains murder and multiple forms of abuse.
Another great read from PJ Fiala. Chuck is a sweet and shy 6’4″ hunk. Nita is a widow with 3 children. Her son Dax is in trouble. The sparks fly between Chuck and Nita, but she thinks she’s fat and no one wants her. Chuck is not your usual typical alpha. There is danger, heat and HEA. Received book for an honest review.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is a read that will keep you guessing. What started out as finding the person responsible for abusing dogs (Ammo from the second book) and several more in this one, turned into so much more. I was kept guessing in several places. The author did a wonderful job of keeping the story flowing smoothly. There was never a part when it felt forced.
I adored Chuck and easily identified with Nita, the large hairdresser that has a slight confidence issue due to something her deceased husband did many years ago. Chuck was also a large man in both height and muscle. He was the perfect male foil for Nita. I just loved these two characters. This book was written in a dual POV format. Getting into the characters’ thought-process really made them seems so human. I could really relate to them.
I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 18. There are a couple of scenes that just are not suitable for a younger reader.
Lethal Love is book three in the Bluegrass Security series and overall an enjoyable read. Unlike the other books in the series, this book started out slow to me and was slow about halfway through. The last half of the book picked up and had action and suspense and Chuck seemed a lot tougher and more sure of himself. Chuck and Nita are great characters and a fun couple. I was so glad to see these two get together and get their HEA. Enjoyed the story and look forward to more in the series.
The plot was well written and well planned with characters that were written with such great detail and depth that I felt like I was looking in the window as the story unfolded between Nita and Chuck!
Falling for the single mother
Chuck moved to Kentucky and the newest member of the Bluegrass Security. He goes to get a haircut and meets Nita who owns the shop. They have an instant attraction and they talk. He later gets his own case and leads to a boy that happens to be Nita’s son. As he starts looking into things he finds out that Nita and her kids are in danger. Can he convince her to let him help to keep them safe? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This is the third and I believe final book at this stage in this series and I sincerely hope that there will be more as I have enjoyed each book immensely
This is Chuck’s story we first met him in Heart Thief as he had just started working for Levi at his newly formed security business in Nebraska but when Levi moves to Kentucky as a partner in the newly formed Bluegrass security then Chuck goes with him. People tend to judge Chuck due to his size they automatically assume that he is stupid but he is far from it and has quickly formed his place in the new team and n ow he has been given his own case to find out who is hurting local dogs for the very first time and he intends to solve it and prove himself. There has been a rash of break ins around the town and strange things are been stolen but first he needs a haircut as per his bosses instructions. He is recommended to go to the local salon and there he meets Nita one of the owners and the person who makes the cookies that the salon is famous for. The attraction between him and Nita is instant but she is a single mother of three children who is intent on protecting herself and them Soon all of these threads come together and he realises that Nita’s son as questions to answer that there is more to the theft than first appears and that Nita herself is in danger. Can he solve his first case save the woman he has grown to love and plan a future with her You will have to read to see
I have to say that Lethal Love, Chuck and Nita’s story is my favorite of the series so far. Ms Fiala had me on the edge of my seat and kept making me want to hug Nita over the story of her son, the romance with Nita and Chuck is hot, emotional, touching and I’m sure I could come up with a few more if I tried hard enough. I love the characters in this book and even though it made me want to cry a couple of times, I loved the story.
This was PJ’s third book in the series. Loved the storyline and the characters. This was a Fast enjoyable Insta-love read. Enjoyed Chuck and Nita’s story. This is a romance story with a little suspense and a twist. Once I started reading this I couldn’t put it down and didn’t want it to end. Can’t wait to see if there will be other stories from more characters in the story.
I received an ARC and volunteered to leave a review.
Kudos to the author for a wonderfully written series that kept me glued to the pages. This series has become more thrilling, intense and exciting with each book. I love suspenseful, ex-military books and when I found this series I was hoping for the best and I was truly rewarded. The series is based on a security team and their intriguing cases.
After reading the first two in the series, Heart Thief and Finish Line, I was really looking forward to Chuck’s story. Nita, a widower with 3 children; 2 daughters in college and a very “difficult” son. Chuck meets her at her hair salon. Neither one is looking for a relationship but they are definitely attracted to one another. They both come from pasts that have cause for insecurities. These especially come to the surface for Nita when Chuck’s new case leads him to believe her son just might be a thief. But is he? What happens when the danger starts getting closer and closer?
Lethal Love is full of suspense, romance and excitement. While the book could be read alone, I highly recommend reading them in order for a much more exciting reading experience. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 stars for this outstanding addition to the Bluegrass Security Series.
I really enjoyed this story, it’s the first in this series that I have read. I loved the chemistry between the characters. Once I started reading I had to find out what happened next. Chuck is assigned to find out who is hurting dogs. Nita has her hands full at her salon and trying to figure out what her son is in to. I requested and received a copy of the book and this is my voluntary review. I’m going to check out the rest of the series now.
This touching story grabs your attention right from the beginning. Chuck and Nita are interesting characters. She is a beauty shop owner with three children one of them having troubles as a result of the death of her husband. When Chuck has to confront her about her son’s crime, she is torn as to whether or not she should tell him about their troubles. Chuck is captivated by Nita who feels that she is destined to live her life alone. Will these two find common ground and a way to help her son as well? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of tis book for an honest review.
Chuck and Nita make a great pair. He is a big sweet man with a few insecurities from his past. Nita is a widowed mom with insecurities about her size and definitely some family drama that is going on. You have plenty of twists and turns going on to keep you reading and some heat. All in all a good read. I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review
After reading Lethal Love which is the latest book in the Bluegrass Security series I can honestly say that it was a good story but not my favorite. I liked Chuck our Bluegrass Security specialist from the previous two books but I was never able to connect with his character as well as the rest of the team. Nita Brown is a salon owner in town and when Chuck stops in to get his hair cut it is lust at first sight. Nita is described as a BBW and I also had a hard time connecting with her character as well. That isn’t anything against the story which was well written but a matter of personal tastes. Nita has a lot of personal drama going on in her life and Chuck wants to help in any way that he can. Sadly Nita’s life mirrors the reality of a lot of women and I respect the author for writing such a realistic story. Lethal Love is written from dual POV and has highs, lows and everything in between.
I was so looking forward to Chuck’s story and it didn’t disappoint. Chuck and Nita are made for each other but they are too stubborn to realize it. This story is full of romance, suspense and a twist. It kept me captivated from the beginning until the end with the action. They are at a standstill with the romantic aspect in their relationship neither of them willing to make the first step. Who will make the first move? Will Nita open up about her son’s problems? I can’t wait for the next book in the series!!
This is the 3rd book in this series and is Nita and Chuck’s story. Nita is a widow who owns her own beauty salon. Chuck is new is town as is working with Levi to learn the security business, and when he needs a hair cut he goes in Nita’s salon. There is explosive chemistry between them. While Chuck is on an investigation he finds that Nita needs his protection as her life is in danger. No spoilers; this series is a must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a well written story which has suspense, danger, drama, and love, which all had me hooked throughout. I recommend this authors’ work for all.
Chuck moved to Kentucky to be a part of Bluegrass Security.
Nita is a widow and an owner of hair salon, she has two kids, son and daughter. She has a lot of issues with her son.
Chuck meet Nita when he visits salon in need of haircut, it’s an instant atraction.
When CHuck gets his case on his own, he is very happy, until he realized that Nita’s son is the suspect.
Will Nita’s son be the reason that Nita and Chuck can’t be togheter?
Wonderful story, Loved it.
This latest story in the Bluegrass Security series is sweeter and a little different in that even though there is some suspense, it’s more a story about two individuals who have encountered obstacles, prejudice and bullying in their lives, and are very cautious of allowing people into their hearts.
Chuck is new to the area . He moved there for his new job with Bluegrass Security. Up to now he’s been the one doing the security camera installations but has just been assigned a case . When he is told by his boss that he needs a haircut he heads to the local hair salon.
Nita, is the BBW widow, owner of the hair salon and when these two meet , sparks fly. As a tentative relationship begins loyalties, are put to the test when Nita’s son, Dax, is being investigated and Chuck is looking for him.
We’ll get to find out who’s been hurting the dogs, what’s happening with Dax, and if Chuck and Nita can find their HEA.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Chuck, trying to solve a case meets the beautiful, curvy mama and is swamped with emotion. Nita would love to see how they get along but is insecure about her weight and other things. Just when they think they can handle each other conversations are overheard, misunderstood and trouble comes a calling. Can they make it thru this to find a love they both want…Loved it
