In book 2, the Lost Bastards Investigative Agency is still searching for the Copper Killer. Heath is on the hunt and at the end of book 1, the FBI agent had been captured. Heath reaches out to her sister for information and discovers, she was never told her sister was kidnapped by the Copper Killer. This serial killer is a sick SOB killing red heads.
Heath, who lost his mother to an abusive boyfriend…has all kinds of issues in this book. He has a savior complex the size of Texas and Anya, a Professor of Criminal Psychology is going to have her hands full with him. The more we dig into this twisted tale, the more I hate Isobel and Sheriff Cobb. These two have seriously messed with so many lives and they are crazy as hell.
Ryker, Heath, and Denver have a lot on their plate, protect Anya, keep running from Sheriff Cobb, and NOW one of Isobel’s minions, Daniel, is getting closer to catching our beloved boys. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and twist and turns will surprise the heck out of you. HOLY COW THAT ENDING!!!!!
Folks, if you like romantic suspense, with a little genetic engineering, and romance, this series is for you. Now, I am off to read Denver’s book!
This series is Lethal for my heart
Heath is the next brother on the proverbial chopping block Anya is the main target of a serial killer, who’s after women with red hair. When he gets his hands on her sister who works for the FBI and kills her, Anya lays down a challenge to the serial killer on live tv and also thrusts Heath into the spotlight.
Much like a noose tightens, that is how Heath feels when Anya puts herself out as bait for a serial killer who appears to be smarter and more stealthy with regards his kills and leaves no evidence behindBut Heath knows time is running out as Madison and Cobb are closing in, but he first has to stop a serial killer from taking the woman who is breaking down his walls before he even thinks about taking on the duo from Hell
A really great story and I can’t wait to read what happens with Noni and Denver next
The story was interesting and the suspense side was exciting but I did not like Heath and Anya together. Apart, the characters are good, but I didn’t enjoy reading about their relationship, how it started, unfolded, and concluded.
The series is great and Rebecca Zanetti is one of my favorite authors but this story was a miss for me. However, this won’t stop me from reading future books in the series. I’m really looking forward to the next book.
***I voluntarily read a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and feelings are my own***
Holy hell, Rebecca has another winner. This book grabs you from first page to the last. Lots of twist and turns, revenge, sexy moments, several surprises thrown in,and enough action to keep you going. This book is also about family and love.
So this was my first time reading this author and I really enjoyed this book! The plot was different and refreshing and held my attention. This is the second book in the series and even though it’s a standalone, I think it would have been better if I read the first book. It would have been nice to have more of a backstory on the brothers.
Anya is looking for the person who killed her sister and meets Heath. Heath has a lot of issues from his mother. At times I didn’t like how Heath constantly compared Anya to his mother. Anya was tough in her own way which I liked even though she could be a little bit annoying at times. The whole mad scientist aspect for the story and building super soldiers was intriguing. Dr. Madison was completely out of her mind and I loved her character so much.
This story was really suspenseful and the last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat. I liked Heath and Anya but I felt their relationship moved too fast for me and I didn’t feel their connection all the way. Nonetheless, I will be reading book 1 which I purchased and continuing with the rest of this series.
3.5 stars
As with the first book in this series, Deadly Silence, this story is action packed. There are twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Also, as with the first book, there are some continuity issues that irked me. But I’m easily annoyed when it comes to such things. And honestly, I still enjoyed this book immensely.
The parts of this story that deal with Heath and Anya and Heath’s brothers I really love. There is great romantic/sexual chemistry with Heath and Anya while there is a wonderful familial chemistry with all the brothers and Zara. The parts that deal with the POV from Isobel Madison and Elton Cobb tended to slow the pacing of the story down for me. I even made a note at one point to check back at the end of the story to see if these tidbits were necessary to the overall story because, at the time, I felt like they weren’t. Well, things did kind of circle back around to things that had been happening with them in the end so hang in there and read those parts. It’s not that they were badly written or anything of that nature. They just somehow messed with the flow for me.
Anya did tend to annoy me with her stubbornness, but I could also understand her strong need to do this for her sister. I also had to remind myself that although I know Heath’s secrets, she does not. So where I wanted her to just get over herself and let herself fully trust him, I also know why she couldn’t do that when he as much as admitted he had huge secrets he wouldn’t let her in on. Which leads me to point out that I don’t think you will enjoy this story even a fraction of what I did if you’re trying to read it as a standalone. If you haven’t read Deadly Silence yet, go and read that story first. There are a lot of important things that you really need to know going into this book.
I was a bit disappointed that Heath’s “abilities” weren’t used a bit more in this story. They’re mentioned, but not really delved into. I was hoping we’d get a bit more about what these brothers could do with each book. It was almost, but not quite, like their “otherness” was being glossed over sometimes.
This book still kept me turning the pages, even with the issues I have with it here and there. I’m really excited for Denver’s story. He seems like a bigger mystery than the others and his abilities are a bit more intriguing.
