The sparks of unexpected passion ignite in this electrifying GhostWalker novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan. When Malichai Fortunes attacks a problem, he does it full force—a habit that earns the GhostWalker a painful injury and a forced vacation in San Diego, California. With nothing but physical therapy on the horizon, Malichai is starting to get restless…until a … to get restless…until a striking blue-eyed blonde makes all his senses come alive.
Amaryllis is kind and warm and sees beyond Malichai’s rough exterior, but he can tell there’s something she’s hiding. Her innate healing abilities indicate she might be a GhostWalker—albeit an untrained one. Malichai doesn’t think their paths crossing is anything more than coincidence, but he can sense that one wrong word could send Amaryllis running.
When strange events at his temporary retreat put Malichai on high alert, he knows he won’t be able to deal with the threat and keep his woman safe in his weakened state. But calling in his brothers means telling Amaryllis what he really is, and revealing that he knows the truth about her too.…

I LOVED this book SO much! Talk about an amazing romance with suspense, intrigue and tension. There’s nothing like a band of brothers to make a series really work, and the realism in this one hit me right in the heart. I can’t recommend LETHAL GAME enough!
Reading a Ghostwalker book transforms me from the everyday mundane to a world of sexy men and the strong women they are fated to be with. Lots of action in a realistic setting.
It took me eight days to finish this book. Not because it was boring. Not because it was difficult to read. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this book. It’s just that I wanted to savor this story for as long as possible. The hero that Christine Feehan created in Malichai was a man who was perfect in his every imperfection. Sold by his mom for drugs, he grew up on the streets with his brothers, learning to survive and ended up becoming the most compassionate, patient, understanding person I’ve probably ever had the pleasure to read about.
In the military, Malichai was a soldier and a doctor. He put himself constantly in danger, rescuing wounded soldiers under heavy assault. He was relentess, tireless, courageous and dangerous. He was a GhostWalker, meaning he was enhanced through experimentation, giving him more gifts than were covered in this book. He was sweet and kind, always willing to give a hand, and extremely protective. When he’s injured during a rescue, he’s forced to take a vacation and ends up meeting Amaryllis. Immediately he suspects she’s also a GhostWalker and when strange things start happening in and around the B&B he’s staying at, it’s either continue to ignore what’s right in front of him, or contact his brothers and admit that he knows just what she is. Hopefully the truth doesn’t destroy the love that these two are beginning to share.
This may be one of my favorite books by Feehan so far, for no other reason than Malichai. Honestly, he was incredible and I’d easily recommend this read simply for you to be amazed by its hero. The side characters, the heroine, and the plot were also amazing, making them icing on the most scrumptious of cakes!
Ghostwalker Malichai Fortune traveled to San Diego, California, to recover from an injury he received
during a rescue mission. There he meets Amaryllis Johnson and feel an immediate attraction for her, but he can tell that she is keeping secrets and it makes him suspicious. As they get to know each other, they open up and Malichai’s suspicion that she is one of Whitney’s experiment girls is revealed to be true. When some residents at the B&B confide that they overheard what sounds like a terrorist plot, Malichai calls in the rest of the team. Working with Malichai’s brothers and team members show Amaryllis that there is hope for a relationship with Malichai. I really enjoyed this book and that Christine Feehan concentrated more on the developing relationship and didn’t rush the sexual relationship. I enjoyed the twists and turns of the plot as well.
This series just gets better and better! Each book is unique and sucks you in!
I loved Malichai’s character. He’s so real. Sure he’s an enhanced Ghost Walker reporting to the VP of the US , but he’s as real as you and I. I’m truly hung up on him and what he has endured and survives. I would claim him as my own if he weren’t so perfectly suited to Amaryllis. Both are good down to their souls and there is a partnership between them. Nothing is overshadowed by alpha male domination (which I love, but refreshingly was not needed in this story). They work together. She has his back and he hers.
Truly enjoyed reading this book.
WOW …. talk about nail biting anticipation!! Be prepared you will be needed a box of tissues for this one especially if you’re this far in the series and on a first name basis with the characters. My heart broke and I cried like a baby!! With that being said…there was also lots of humor, action, suspense, and commeradery…with a great ending. There was such a sweet tenderness between Malachi and Amaryllis that made your heart melt. Highly recommend and I can’t wait for the next book.
Very much enjoyed Malichai and Amaryllis’ story. The Ghost Walkers never get old.
I read this book this week and I absolutely LOVED it. It’s romantic and action-packed and the main character is one you’ll adore and love! I know I did. There were a few romantic scenes that were too intimate, so I skipped them, and it has a few grammar issues, but it’s a wonderful story and one I highly recommend to others, especially if you love your romance blended perfectly with suspense and intense action scenes! The opening scene hooks you and immediately drags you right into the story and right into the action and I’m very interested in the rest of the series now!
Christine Feehan’s books are always action packed with very interesting characters.
After Malichai Fortunes takes a bad hit during a mission he is forced to take a vacation to San Diego, California to heal. What he wasn’t expecting was to find a fellow Ghostwalker, one of Whitney’s orphans, and to be instantly attracted to her.
Another Fortunes brother falls! The Fortunes brothers are some of my favorite characters from this series and I am glad to see another one find his woman. Malichai is a very protective and strong man so being injured and weak is causing him to doubt himself. It was heartbreaking seeing him doubt himself and believe Amaryllis would leave if he wasn’t whole. Amaryllis was a strong, beautiful, caring, and deadly woman. I loved her. One of the reasons I love this series is because of all the deadly women in this series.
Amaryllis and Malichai are great together. Their personalities and abilities work well together making them a powerful Ghostwalker couple. Their love was strong and unwavering, which is good because they need that strength to work through their fears and new challenges. They were just perfect together and I can’t wait to see more of them in future books.
We also get more Ghostwalker babies in this book!
Overall, this was an amazing addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next book
great book. couldn’t put it down.
Really enjoy this series
Another stunningly awesome installment in the Ghostwalker Series
I really, REALLY loved this book! Christine Feehan has been a favorite of mine for well over a decade, and she’s back in force with the latest Ghostwalker book. I could NOT put my kindle down. An instant hook, you’re drawn in to the story and the characters from word one.
Our hero, Malachi, is loyal and fun. Amaryllis is fierce and wary. Together their chemistry is off the charts. I love having the wonder of a long, strong, and well-written series such as this – revisiting favorite characters from past books is such a treat. Those threads are wound together so deeply and intricately – the attention to detail throughout the individual stories, and the series – is amazing. Each new book drives this series to new heights. Once you read, one, you’ll be hooked on the series!
This story has all of the elements we’ve come to expect from Ms. Feehan – wild emotion, witty dialogue, sizzling chemistry, and heart-stopping suspense centered around some of the most amazingly resilient, loving and loyal characters you’ll ever read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC copy of this book, for which I’m voluntarily providing an honest review.
My general rating rationale:
3 – Perfectly fine story, perhaps some minor editorial errors. Entertaining. Typically with this rating I feel like there could have been MORE – be it believably/relatability, character development, internal dialogue, explanations or depth, richness to the overall storyline, etc. May lose a bit of engagement here and there but always finish reading.
4 – A very good book. Engaging, with well-developed characters, a great plot, relatable scenarios; keeps you invested to the last page. Would recommend to reader friends.
5 – Can’t say enough amazing things, loved the characters, fabulously detailed plot, a quick hook, intense investment in both story and characters (including supporting characters) throughout the book. Will tell anyone who will listen that they should read it.
I was waiting for this character to have his own story. Love reading all of Christine’s books.
What can I say, ABSOLUTELY loved this story!! Love the Fortunes brothers and Malichai’s didn’t let me down! Tons of intrigue in this one, more storyline than we’ve seen lately! Amaryllis is a perfect match for Malichai. Christine, I love how what happens to Malichai is what our military men and women face daily and you didn’t sugar coat it.
You see lots of the team trying to stop a bombing and trying to heal Malachai, a bonus of the Ken and Jack Norton there to help out.
Lethal Game is the newest installment in Christine Feehan’s Ghostwalker series. The 16th book. In a series that started in 2003. To have that type of longevity in a book series is not only mind-blowing but to have readers always clamoring for the next book in the series…ASTOUNDING.
If you’re like me you have fallen in love with this series, Ms. Feehan continues to amaze with new characters that take each book to the next level. Lethal Game continues to wow us with Malachai’s story and his part in the Ghostwalker world. It also introduces us to Amaryllis. Highly trained, a kick-butt female that is fierce and loyal. And as always with a Ghostwalker book, Ms. Feehan packs in A LOT.
The characters Ms. Feehan has brought to life for us with this series keep getting better and better. The world-building and suspense ratchet each book up another level. With a steamy romance and suspense, the story between these two characters is electric! You will invest your time and emotions in these books and you will come out the other side emotionally spent. But it will be worth it. OH, SO WORTH IT. I chomp at the bit to read these books and can assure you. So, hang on for this WILD ride filled with action, mystery, danger, and more. TONS more.
*4.5 stars*
Another emotional and suspenseful read…
It took me a while to warm up to this series and I constantly have to wonder why that was because each read now is one I savor. The stories have all the elements I look for and have come to expect from this author – heart-pinging emotion, stomach-jumping tension and always family and love… And the opening chapter of this read? Yeah, turn the lights up high and cuddle up as it was unsettling as it was intense (and oh so good)!
Malichai and his brothers had come through a lot together. Somehow, they grew stronger and their bonds never wavered. They found only more love and support with a new family with brothers and sisters, and a Nonny, they could always rely on. Sidelined by a brutal injury, away from the land and people he loved, Amaryllis was as unexpected as the danger they both found themselves in. If I had any thought their courtship would be ordinary that quickly was set aside as mysterious events escalated to terror-level threat…
Malichai and Amaryllis were amazing as their strong personalities and unique skills came together to solidify their bond as they battled more than one dangerous situation. They needed even more of that strength to overcome old fears and new challenges. With family at their side, this was a roller coaster ride, a true heart in your throat read that left me reaching for the first book in the series. Again…

Ms Feehan has long ago proved herself a master of romance and paranormal to me but I think I need to add suspense to the list. Lethal Game definitely has an edge of your seat energy woven through it. There’s a sense of waiting for the other shoe to drop even as you’re immersed in fun witty banter and the building of trust and love between the main characters. A brilliant building of discovery and surprises beyond the obvious. This story grabs your heart in chapter one and has you engaged in Malichai’s future path through each page.
One of the brave members of GhostWalker Team 4 Pararescue, who volunteered with his brothers to be enhanced genetically by Dr Whitney. He lives his life by the strength of character and generous heart he developed by choices he made on the streets of Chicago, long before he entered the GW program. They grew stronger as he bonded with his chosen family in the Bayou. Now he puts his life on the line to protect those on the front line, including innocents and victims. He puts other lives above his own and it’s a natural response in him. His one dream, which he feels is eluding him, is to find his partner, his angel. Until he is injured and goes to a B&B, chosen by a little girl, to recover. Here he meets Amaryllis. The one he’s been searching for. But why is she there and so many other questions come with finding her. And the nagging sense he gets that something isn’t right.
Amaryllis, one of Whitney’s Orphans, has been told she didn’t fit in with society, no one wanted her, she was a throw away and the only way her life had meaning was through the horrid experiments meant to discover what could enhance the elite soldiers. To be an assassin that would keep their secrets safe. She is intelligent and observant and had a strong survival instinct for herself and others. She discovered the skills she had developed took her off the assassin path and onto the breeding and worse death path and escaped Whitney. She’d learned not to trust off the cuff but to observe and evaluate…so when the big tough looking man appeared, at the B&B she’d found refuge working in with the family who gave her a place peaks her interest, that’s just what she does.
I love the way Christine unfolds their relationship, true courtship and mystery solving. She shows, by example, with is couple and other occurrences, that pheromones and DNA pairing does not guarantee love. So much more is needed. They learn to trust and open up to each other and love builds between them into a strong lasting bond. Its not just the spoken words but the way they treat each other, people they know and don’t know. And how all those people treat them. There are truly some sweet, heart touching moments that have you sighing, how could you not love Malichai. Amaryllis comes to recognize Malichai as hers. She opens herself to a feeling of belonging and purpose, she never felt before, among the Team.
This is all woven through the warning bells going off in Malichai’s head and them trying to figure out if they are for himself, those he loves, or something disastrous that could be threatening thousands. The Storyline slowly and beautifully unravels the dangers and concerns with the help of his team. Malichai, true to himself, acts to gather information and to protect even at great cost to himself. All culminates in the moment Malichai must not only face his greatest fear but charge right through it to save innocent lives. He’s all the stronger because he knows he has a partner in life no matter what, and family love and support, giving him determination that can make it through anything. He is truly one of Ms Feehan’s strongest characters and Amaryllis grows into the perfect match for him.
As usual, The Action and the romance a perfectly balanced for the story and seeds are planted for future books, even for the other Teams. And Whitney remains one of the most diabolical villains I’ve ever read!
Lethal Game continues the Ghostwalkers series and I am really loving it! Malichai is an enhanced super soldier who was recently injured on a mission. To his dismay, he must now take a “vacation”. While at a cute bed and breakfast in California, he meets Amaryllis, a worker at the B and B who is most certainly hiding something. Challenge accepted!
Malichai is a badass super soldier for sure, but seeing him in a noncombat setting, doing domestic things like fixing a dishwasher really made him a dynamic character. He breaks a lot of the trends of male heroes-he isn’t conceited, he isn’t a whore, and he values kindness. Amaryllis is a mystery in the beginning (to both the reader and Malichai) but it was entertaining to see Malichai peel back the layers! Amaryllis’ history was intriguing and I really appreciated how developed her character was in Lethal Game.
Don’t let the cute, sea side setting fool you-there is still plenty of action and danger. However, the plot of Lethal Game doesn’t have some of the super dark elements that some of Feehan’s books harbor. I thought it was kind of a nice change (I read Vendetta Road last month and it was VERY dark). While I have not read all the books in the Ghostwalkers series, Lethal Game makes me want to read more of them for sure! If you like a touch of paranormal/supernatural with your suspense, Lethal Game delivers in spades. It also gives you some GREAT characters that will hold a place in my heart for sure.
