From the first page to last, I was absolutely riveted with Let My Daughter Go, the latest thriller by Creston Mapes. While investigating the disappearance of a teenage girl, Detective Wayne Deetz once again finds himself face to face with the suffocating tentacles of evil that almost destroyed him in Portland’s mass shooting two years prior. I devoured Deetz’s story, reading at breakneck speeds thanks to the author’s superb pacing and non-stop twists and turns. Could not put it down!
This is a riveting story that had my heart pounding & on the edge of my seat, turning page after page. I had a hard time finding a good stopping point so didn’t do that much until I reached the end. This can be read as a stand-alone but it does reference the event from book 1 so reading the series from the start might make the series more enjoyable. Now I am anxious to read book 3.
This is a great book. Couldn’t put it down.
I just couldn’t put it down! It was an action-packed page-turner. Quite a frightening story if you have children and can feel the desperation of parents looking for a child who’s been abducted. Perhaps some events were more violent than I like, some of the characters more one-sided or underdeveloped than they could have been, but I really appreciate being able to read a book full of people of deep faith and those who are struggling with their faith in the middle of trials.
Opened my eyes to things that are happening now in our world. Both my husband and I were anxious to complete the book. Hard to put the book down until completed.
I love this book. It kept me interested throughout the whole book.
I love this series!! The second book is hard to put down! It is so realistic for today. Can’t wait to get the third book in the series!
I especially liked the Christian influence on the main characters, no objectionable language, and no immoral scenes. It was refreshing to read and entertaining.
Compelling. Didn’t want to put it down.tHis other books are great, too

My rating is 4 out of 5 stars.
Wayne Deetz finds himself still in recovery mode after the recent mass shooting in the town square that killed over 20 people. Wayne was the lead investigator on the case, who eventually found enough evidence to send the young killer to prison for the rest of his life. However, during the process Wayne suffered anxiety and panic attacks. He is now 14 months from retirement and is counting down the days along with his wife. Their youngest child, Leena, is turning 18. She has gotten a part-time job at a fast food restaurant, which is an accomplishment as she is a special needs child with autism. Wayne, his wife and Leena have also been going to church and have accepted Christ as their Savior. Little does Wayne know that his faith will be desperately leaned on in the coming days.
Wayne is investigating the kidnapping of a young local girl from a church youth gathering. She has been missing for a few days and Wayne knows that the longer she is missing, the less likely they are to find her alive. He soon targets a young, rich guy who attends the gatherings for social reasons rather than to study the Bible. This guy seemed to like the missing girl, but when pressed his dad brings in the lawyers. Evidence is found pointing to another suspect, but Wayne knows in his gut this kid knows something. Then, Wayne gets a frantic call from his wife that Leena is missing and believed kidnapped. What follows is a father’s determined and persistent search for his daughter while worst case scenarios play out in his mind. Is her kidnapping related to the other girl’s? Why have these girls been kidnapped?
I loved Leena’s character! Her response to her kidnapping was to pray and trust that God would take care of her. She even tries to witness to one of the bad guys! She has a sense of humor and an inner strength that won me over. Wayne’s newfound faith was also a wonderful thing to see. The different family dynamics of the various families involved was also interesting to contemplate. There was plenty of tension leading up to a suspense-filled climax, with a nail-biting conclusion. I’m looking forward to book three in the series!

Mapes once again delivers everything his most dedicated disciples have come to expect — inspiring heroes and despicable villains, plenty of action and non-stop tension — all crammed into a timely, relevant story and glossed with his signature-style message of faith. BRAVO!
