It so good! I didn’t want to end the book!! There should be more too it!!
Did the daughter with the baby push her?? The mom didn’t jump off the building!!
Thoroughly enjoyed this read. It started out as an intriguing mystery with a possible paranormal element to it. (don’t worry if like me you don’t like paranormally mixed in with thrillers it’s not what you think). Anna finds it hard to accept her parents committed suicide so when she received a note querying it, she goes straight to the police wanting the case re-opened. With little to go on Murray, a retired policeman who mans the desk decides to help. The case quickly escalates and morphs into a roller coaster of a thriller with plenty of red herrings and twists.
Both parents committing suicide at the same exact spot seven months apart seemed a bit strange. Anna extremely missed both her parents but didn’t know how much until a horrible reminder arrived in the mail.
This horrible reminder had Anna rethinking the possibility that her parents really didn’t commit suicide but had been murdered. She never thought her parents would kill themselves and leave her without them.
Anna asked for the case to be reopened, and a retired policeman, Murray, was taking on the job.
No one knew Anna had asked for this case to be re-opened, but it sure seemed as if they did. Strange things started happening that even her husband dismissed. Was she in danger too?
Meanwhile we have another voice being heard in the book. The voice is the voice of Anna’s mother watching Anna and being elated that she has a grandchild and also not very happy that Anna was digging into papers that might put Anna in danger depending upon what she would find.
Anna’s mother does some odd things like going into the house when it is empty and looking for things and specifically a key. What could the key be, why is it important to her, and how is she in the house if she is dead?
After this, the intrigue began…secrets were being revealed, impossible things happening, ghosts, seeing things that couldn’t be there, feeling her mother’s presence, and the reader wondering what Anna’s mother was looking for and what she was trying to protect Anna from or protect herself from.
LET ME LIE has GREAT twists and is another Clare Mackintosh book you won’t want to miss. You won’t see it coming and ask yourself how you missed it.
The tension at the end makes this one her best yet. 5/5
This book was given to me free of charge by the publisher and NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Claire Mackintosh does not disappoint with this new thriller, she is my new fave author of this genre! Let me start by saying whatever you think you know about someones marriage, think again because you never really know the exact truth about anyone. I am going to be a bit vague on details because it is a bit difficult review this book without giving away spoilers. This story is told form a few POV’s which I thought added to the overall mystery. Anna is still reeling from her parents suicide when she receives a cryptic note that makes her question whether or not it was a suicide. Not only was this an unbelievable, what the heck is really going on with Ann’a parents book, it also touches on a few topics like suicide, depression and alcoholism which the author does a great job of not making light of these issues. Anna’s life seems to just come apart at the seams, she even starts to question her marriage as well. Yes I loved this book and the ending was a total shock to me. This book is perfect for all of you Thriller/Suspense junkies out there.
This was a very good book. I am ready for a sequel!! I would definitely recommend this book! The twists! Oh my!
Very unpredictable. Excellent read. I recommend.
This is Mackintosh’s third book and in my opinion, her best. Told in three parts, the twists and turns are endless and you won’t see them coming (or at least, I didn’t). Read it in 2 days over Christmas, staying up late into the night to finish it. Simply fabulous!
good author
Lazy writing—builds up to a twist that defies narrative
An ending I did not expect.
Another great thriller from Claire. Her books always leave me feeling shocked. I love the way she can make the reader think they have figured out how the death happen and who may have done it, to end up being amazed when the plot takes a twist.
I always enjoy Clare Makintosh’s books and this one was no exception. It constantly had me guessing. Let Me Lie
A must read! I read this in a day it was so good!
I’ve enjoyed reading Clare Mackintosh’s work, and this book is no exception. She does a good job twisting the plot to keep you guessing. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!
Quick read. A mystery that kept me guessing until the very end.
Let Me Lie is a spellbinding, mind twisting, thrilling page turner that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. Just when you think you have a handle on things, the plot will take an unexpected turn, and leave you stumped all over again, it’s downright brilliant! This one is sure to leave you rattled in the best possible way!! Highly recommend!!
I loved this book . Not only is it a good story, but there is so many topics touched upon. What really happened when Anna’s parents committed suicide. So many secrets, so many lies are told. There are twists and turns. I just loved Murray, he investigates threats that Anna is getting and I hope he will return in another book
I am still thinking of the ramifications of deceit and other secrets. How life changes in a second.
I am not sure why this book isnt pulling in all 5s. Give it a chance
A great ending is in store for you.
The suspense kept you reading to the very end!
Let Me Lie is a true psychological thriller. The suspense, the mystery, the secrets all feed into the story keeping the reader guessing as to what will happen next. There were so many twists and turns that I found myself wanting to skip ahead and see where they were heading. And oh the lies… so many lies. Lies on top of lies on top of lies. Sounds like it could get confusing but it was just the opposite. They all played into the story perfectly.
The story is told from multiple points of views. I loved that one of the points of view was unidentified. This kept me guessing as who was telling their story without revealing themselves. From the different voices it was fun to try to tell who was lying, who was telling the truth, and who was telling the story as they knew it whether truthful or not.
If you are looking for a psychological thriller full of twists and moment that will make you stop and think…Let Me Lie is the book for you.
