Warm Christmas Romance
This heartwarming Christmas romance takes place on Nantucket Island and features a toy store. It is a perfect setting for a sweet and clean Christmas romance. The author has made this book read like a Hallmark movie. This book has no faults that I could see. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my hone
Would you like to live on an island? I enjoyed this story and the folks in it. To me this is a story of learning who you are and being brave enough to embrace it. I would love to visit the Shedders and their shops. What a unique group this is. What a surprise Wink turned out to be. First thought might be poor little rich girl, but what a delightful child when you get to know her. Everyone has a story and it was fun learning all the stories of the folks on Nantucket. Sometime you just have to take a chance and see what it brings you. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.
I’m a sucker for holiday books, snow, and anything beach-related (especially Nantucket), so Let It Snow checks a lot of boxes for me.
Christina lives in Nantucket year-round, running a toy shop on the harbor. Both her parents recently died, and although she inherited a large house, she is struggling, both financially and emotionally. Meeting Wink, a poor little rich girl who attempted to shoplift stickers, introduces her to her wealthy landlord and his two children—attractive bachelor Andy; and his sister and Wink’s mother, Delia.
Christina suspects she’s falling in love with Andy, but their relationship is complicated when his father raises her rent.
This is a simplistic, formulaic romance. Andy seems too good to be true, and I kept waiting for a major revelation (other than the beautiful ex-fiancée and greedy father). The novel is saved by the appealing main character, Christina, her friends/fellow shopkeepers, winsome Wink, and the surprisingly nice Delia. A perfect novel for a snowy afternoon to get you into the holiday spirit—light and fluffy like a snowdrift or the whipped cream in your hot chocolate. #NetGalley #LetItSnow
The Christmas season is here and the “shedders” are preparing for the rush of last minute shoppers. All the streets and shops in Nantucket are decorated for the season. The only thing that would would make it perfect would be snow.
Christina has her toy shop all stocked and is ready for the Christmas shoppers. Even though she has worked hard to get prepared for the season now that it is here she cannot get into the spirit. Christmas was always a special time in her family and with both her parents gone it seems it will be a lonely holiday. But when a little girl named Wink comes into her shop everything changes.
A heartwarming story about love, giving and friendship. A must read Christmas book!
Thank you Netgalley and Random House for a chance to preview this book.
We are brought back to Nantucket for Christmas. The wind whipping off the water, the cold and damp just goes through you. Christina and some of her friends have sheds along the wharf to sell their wares. But Scrooge Oscar Bittlesman is going to raise the rent, which would put them out of business. A Christmas miracle is needed. It comes in the form of Wink, Oscar’s granddaughter, and his son Andy. A little caroling in the old fashion costumes and snow. Will Scrooge have a change of heart. Will all the wishes be granted? I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
Christina Antonioni is one of four Nantucket shopkeepers whose stores on the wharf were originally fisherman’s shacks and, while they’re charming, they are also cold and crowded. Just before Christmas the landlord Oscar Bittlesman notifies the shopkeepers that their rents are being increased, sending everyone into a frenzy. And just before Christmas – Scrooge!
The story focuses on Christina, her relationship with the Bittlesman family – granddaughter 9 year old Wink, her mother Delia, her handsome and single Uncle Andy, and Oscar the curmudgeonly patriarch of the family. The other three shopkeepers, while not the main focus of the story, play a major role in the outcome of the conflict and are appealing, creative individuals.
I have never read Nancy Thayer before, a fact that I will soon remedy. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The interaction among the shopkeepers, the budding romances and the descriptions of the Nantucket locales kept me reading. Now all I have to do is figure out how I’m going to get to Nantucket for a visit.
Let it Snow is the perfect story to read snuggled up to a cozy fire, with a sparkling Christmas tree nearby! Completely entertaining and charming, you will fall in love with Christina, Andy, Wink and all of the other wonderful characters. The setting of Nantucket is perfect, adding a fun layer to this story.

A lovely Christmas story. Warm, romantic and entertaining. Set in Nantucket and the town plays a prominent role in the story. I very much enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this book. Nantucket sounds like a quaint place to visit. The characters were easy to like. Some more childish than others. The story deals with all kinds of relationships, those of a romantic nature, friendship, community, etc. I was surprised at the couples and who was attracted to who. Also to watch how different characters grew, matured, and blossomed. This is a nice relaxing ready. Easy to read and the story caught my attention quickly.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to review and offer my honest review of this book.
Feel good Christmas story about a toy store owner, Christina, who finds love with a handsome, rich, bachelor named Andy. I think the relationship is too quick to be believable, but miracles do happen at Christmastime! I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.
This was an enjoyable read. The tone is light and playful. The reading is easy; the reader is not expected to read between the lines for some deeper meaning. There is a nice blend of characters and the plot moves steadily forward with some predictable conflict and no over-exaggerated angst. It’s a nice addition to your clean holiday reading schedule.
I requested and voluntarily read a complementary copy provided by the publisher via Netgalley. I offer my honest opinions in response.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Nancy Thayer can spin disaster into the best, most unbelievable story. Her characters are your neighbors, your friends or your family. Absolutely fantastic book! Enjoy!
Nancy Thayer’s Let It Snow was a very refreshing Christmas story. On the island of Nantucket, everyone is not wealthy and it does not always snow in December. Christina and her friends the “shedders” have small shops near the wharf and suddenly are hit with a 10% rate hike in January. A new customer Wink has become a regular customer and as it turns out Wink’s Grandfather, a modern-day Scrooge is the new owner of the “shedders” property. As Christina becomes more fond of Wink, Christina meets the rest of her family. A family that includes a nice bachelor uncle. This is a great Christmas story where in the end happiness wins the day. I would definitely recommend.
Let it Snow is a holiday offering by author Nancy Thayer. Christina Antonioni has a small toy shop in one of the old fisherman sheds along the wharf where the Hy-Line ferry departs. Having inherited her small family home on the island, Christina is able to make ends meet. As the story begins, Christina catches a young urchin girl shoplifting a book of stickers. Christina tells the young girl to come back later in the day to help unpack her delivery and she can earn the sticker book. Although her wharf mates, Mimi, Harriet, and Jacob, don’t necessarily agree they do agree to chip in with some items for a young girl they believe to be in need.
A few days later, a well dressed man and woman visit Christina to return the items. It turns out that the child, Wink, is actually the very bored granddaughter of wealthy Oscar Bittlesman who owns a large section of land including the wharf and the shop sheds along it. Andy Bittlesman, Wink’s Uncle, takes a liking to Christina and they begin seeing each other. She is even invited to the large house on the bluff for dinner.
While Wink is dealing with her parents’ impending divorce and Andy is trying to figure out how he can slow down his work life, Oscar has raised the rent on the sheds by 20%. This is well above what any of the tenants are able to pay. Christina takes the lead for the tenants to try to right this and throws an interesting challenge Oscar’s way.
With interesting characters, a lovely setting, a joyous holiday, and a daring heroine, this is a delightful Christmas tale. I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!
This is an enchanting Christmas story, perfect for getting into the holiday spirit! Delightful characters and an idyllic setting make this a captivating tale of the bonds of friendship, the magic of childhood, and the power of love. A wonderful read!
A lovely well rounded holiday book by Nancy Thayer. It is about Christina a Toy shop owner who lives in Nantucket. When a little girl called Wink comes into her shop and tries to take a toy her life soon becomes interesting. There is romance, a grouchy landlord and a shrew of a woman who is Winks mother. Christina finds herself trying to change things for the better with the holiday spirit. A wonderful story and characters. Heartwarming and fun to read. Loved it.
Now this was a Christmas story! I was able to get right into it with all the characters….I was cold, wet, singing Christmas carols…the whole ball of wax…lol Ms. Thayer painted very vivid pictures.
All that and a precocious 9-year old with a single, handsome uncle.
This story was happy all the way through for the main characters and mostly happy for the secondary characters but the story lines moved along so well they weren’t unhappy for long.
It is a Christmas story so there was one ole curmudgeon-y old crouch to “wake up” to Christmas naturally.
Thank you Ms. Thayer for a new HEA Christmas story.
This book was gifted to me by the author and NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Let It Snow is a book set in Nantucket at Christmas time but it is a book that can be read anytime. Life isn’t always easy in Nantucket but the people always come together for each other. The shop owners along the wharf call themselves the Shedders because their shops are sheds. When the man who owns the property, Oscar Bittlesman who is a real Scrooge decides to raise their rent, Christina goes to see him and offers him a bet, spend one hour in her shop and she will pay the increase and if he doesn’t stay an hour she won’t pay the increase. He takes him up on her offer and they set up a time for him to come and work at the store for an hour. He was cold, didn’t want to be there but he wanted money more. His granddaughter, Wink, who is 9 years old and Christina had become friends since Christina offered her a job in her store so she could buy presents after being caught trying to shoplift.. Wink said to her grandfathers, you don’t need more money, because you have so much money, you need friends because you have none. Her grandfather told her to get out of his house and she left crying.
The book will bring the town and the reader together to try to get Oscar to do the right thing for his tenents. It isn’t about miracles, it is about everyday life and all that can happen when the small town comes together. It can turn the heart of stone into a heart that starts to beat to want to begin to be a better person. It can take two people who forgot what they really meant to each other and wanted a divorce to be a reminder that life together is what they truly want. It is about a 9-year-old girl who just brought life to those she met. It is a book I will remember and visit and revisit for years to come with the memories it left with me.
I received an ARC from NetGalley but it is a book I am not only going to buy but buy some for friends and family as a gentle reminder that life can be better, not to let their struggles get in the way of what is truly important. Yes, it was a book that offers us so much.
This was a sweet entertaining Christmas story about life as an inhabitant on Nantucket. There are a group of 4 store owners called “The Shedders”. They are called this because their shops are housed in small drafty sheds on the waterfront. This group has become friends & are like a family.
Christina owns the toy shop & surprises a young lady named “Wink” when she tried to shoplift. This brings Christina to the attention of one of the wealthy families of the island & particularly the son, Andy. The chemistry was instantaneous between Andy & Christina but she really didn’t trust it. Can they find a way to be together? Can Christina ignore the fact that Andy’s father is raising her rent & may cause her to close her shop?
This was a nice Christmasy story will all the feel goods of a holiday classic. Wink’s parents are getting a divorce. Christina is trying to save the stores of the Shedders. Andy is trying to win Christina’s heart. Andy’s father is a curmudgeonly old Scrooge like grump. The ending was really sweet to read & tied everything up neatly.
