Darcie Weatherby has a full plate—a preteen and sixteen-year-old twins, a wayward grandmother, a nightmare boss, and a manipulative ex-husband. The last thing she needs are hot flashes.Especially ones that start fires. But like most single mothers, Darcie sucks it up and deals with it, because what else can she do? The kids need to be fed, her grandmother needs supervising, and her demanding boss … her demanding boss needs placating.
Burning her boss’s house down was a total accident.
Honest.
It doesn’t take long before Darcie realizes she’s running on borrowed time. Unless she figures out a way to get these hot flashes under control, there’s a very good chance she’ll spontaneously combust at the Founder’s Day Masquerade Ball and leave her children motherless. There’s no way in hell—or Perry’s Fall, Ohio—Darcie will let that happen.
Never underestimate the determination of a mother.
Especially a smokin’ hot one.

I loved this! The story is original, smart and a lot of fun. It’s fantastic that an author decided to make a single mother in her forties such a powerful force. Darcie’s menopausal transformation in this paranormal adventure is superb. Her journey of self discovery leads her to discover much more than she bargained for. I am looking forward to more of these characters.
I’ll be honest, from reading the blurb, I didn’t think this would be my cup of tea. I’m happy to say, I was wrong. The book sucked me in from page one and kept me captivated until the end. It has a little bit for all audience types; humor, slight mystery, trickle of romance and the fierce protectiveness of a mother with a side of paranormal.
The main character, Darcie, is well developed and relatable, even if you’re not her age or don’t have children. She loves her children fiercely and will do anything to be there for them and protect them. The supporting characters are all interesting in their own right and each bring something special to the story line.
Overall, this book feels like a good introduction into the series, almost a prequel, if you will. After the mind blowing ending, I think the next book is bound to be epic and I look forward to seeing what Darcie will do next.
I laughed throughout the whole story.
Holy Wow!
There’s just so much amazing, I’m not even sure where to start. I guess I should first say, I’m not a fantastic forty-something but I am a 27 year old divorced mother of four kids and I could relate to some of the issues Darcie had, especially trying to start over after a divorce after being a stay at home mom for years and having a horrible, horrible ex-husband. The writing in Let it All Burn is so realistic I had to put the book down a few times because I was so infuriated at Darcie’s -enter your favorite expletive here- ex. I’ve gone through similar conversations with my ex so many times so it was very relatable. Let It All Burn is part of the amazing PWF movement/genre/awesomeness although isn’t just a book to empower women 40 and older, but all women everywhere. Ladies, like the book teaches, don’t apologize for someone else’s behavior. Don’t settle for less. Stand up for yourself and other women. I honestly feel so confident from reading this!
Now more about the storyline. I loved the book for the entirety and tried my hardest to figure out what was going on but I was honestly in the dark until the end. Now I realize there were some hints at it earlier but I of course didn’t notice. I love the twist! The way this book ended got me so excited to read the next book in the series. I absolutely cannot wait to see where this storyline goes next. I know it’s going to be more craziness for Darcie and I can’t wait to see how she handles it! Let It All Burn is such an amazing book and I can honestly see a fantastic, long and successful series stemming from it. Well done!!
Oh my, this was an amazing book. I really loved reading Let it All Burn. It has a little bit of everything and I really enjoyed the comedy. It had me laughing so hard at times.
Darcie is a single mother of three kids who mean the world to her. Her life is already difficult with struggling to make ends meet, making sure the kids don’t miss out on anything, a job she hates, and a difficult ex husband…and then the hot flashes start.
Darcie thought they were just hot flashes but then quickly realized there’s more to it when she burns her boss’s house done. Now she needs to figure out what’s going on before it’s to late.
Not only is this a start to a new series by Denise Grover Swank, but it’s also a start to a new genre-paranormal women’s fiction. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book and find out what happens next.
Oh my gosh!!!! Firstly this is a MUST READ!!!!! A woman who has a hot flush then a fire starts, weird but also awesome. I was hesitant At the start being it be about a single mother in her 40s with 3 kids, recently divorced. I assumed I wasn’t going to connect with Darcie and her hot flushes, as I’m only in my 20s. But yet again I was wrong. I felt a connection, and my heart was with her through what she had to go through being a single mum and the challenges she faces with the changes that were happening, which aren’t normal. This book makes you want to keep reading and not put it down. So many things happen. And I did not expect what did happen. Excellent work again by Denise Grover Swank, she truly is an amazing writer.
Finally! The main character of an awesome book that is in her “Fabulous Forties”!!! Darcie is so relatable, I instantly wanted her as my new best friend. The story held my interest from beginning to end. I was amazed at some of the twists, just when I thought I had it figured out… plot twist! I loved it!!
Let It All Burn is the first book in a new Paranormal Women’s Fiction series. Darcie is a newly single mom of 3, who has started menopause , so she thinks. Come to find out that there is a lot of family history behind her “HOT flashes”.
I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. Thank you for writing a book about a middle-aged woman. I know that I can relate to Darcie so much. I can not wait until the next book in this new series.
Any of my fellow books lovers out there love an awesome paranormal romance? You need this book. I know that I say that a lot but it’s simply because Denise Grover Swank is a phenomenal author. Her writing technique crosses genres and you really can’t go wrong with any of her books. But this particular series holds a special place in my heart because she along with 12 other amazing authors have banded together to create the Paranormal Women’s Fiction #PWF movement to represent women in the prime of their lives. Not in their 20s, not in their 30s, but the women of their 40s and even 50s who may be down but are far from out.
Y’all this book is everything and so much more! The story flowed effortlessly and held my interest throughout since I could relate to a lot of the chaos going on in Darcie’s life. It was funny, meaningful, and down right inspirational. I loved it and how it represents a genre so few dare to venture into. Midlife women.

This story was AMAZING and nothing that I was expecting.
I didn’t read what this story was about on purpose so I could really be surprised by it, and I am so glad I did this!
It starts out with a 42-year-old recently divorced mother of three at a wannabe Tupperware party. It seems like a story that is going to be about divorce and raising three kids on her own.
Then…. plot twist!
WHOA! I was not expecting this! I love how the background was built little by little, and the character relationships were revealed in the meantime. I love how the story flowed naturally and didn’t seem forced. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the “paranormal” storyline! It is VERY interesting!
The only part of the story I hated is the ex-husband. That guy was a jerk and I really hope we get to see karma at its finest by the time this is over. I also was curious how the investigation for Nikki’s house was going to work out? It seemed like a big plot and then nothing?
The bottom line, as a 40-year-old woman myself, I related to this story so well. I felt like the main character, Darcie, could have been a friend of mine. I was rooting for her the entire time. I LOVE how assertive she is, LOVE that she is drama-free and makes decisions that MAKE SENSE. I LOVE her Nana Stella, I hope I am like her when I am in my 80s.
I am looking forward to seeing how the story goes from here because honestly, I have never read anything quite like this story! I highly recommend this book!
From the very first line of Let It All Burn, I was hooked. Darcie is at a Tupperware-like party at her boss’s house when the couch that Darcie is sitting on catches on fire. Seems like a pretty random thing to happen but as the story progresses, you find out that Darcie’s hot flashes are much more than your average hot flash. Darcie is a divorced mom of three with a loving, spunky grandma that lives with them, a pretentious, cold mother that is always giving her a hard time, an obnoxious boss, an ex that is an ass, a best friend that is super supportive through everything, and a hot FBI agent that Darcie should definitely get to know more. Despite her somewhat normal life, Darcie discovers that she is a part of a long line of guardians and has a lot to learn about her family history and who she is.
I never thought that I would enjoy this genre until I started reading Denise Grover Swank’s urban fantasy and paranormal book series but she has proved me wrong. This book felt similar to the style of other books written by DGS. Personally, as a woman over 40 dealing with menopause, I LOVE that Darcie is a woman over 40 dealing with hot flashes. The twists and turns that DGS writes into her stories are so much fun. With that said, I wish that there was a little more character development. I feel that Tammy could have been introduced earlier on. I wanted more from Ella. I want to know more about Vee. I wish that she could have had an opportunity to talk to her daughter. I hope that Darcie’s daughters and son become a larger part of the storyline. Maybe that will happen as the series continues.
I truly hope that the series continues so that we can learn more about all of the people in Darcie’s life and see where they fit in. A new series from DGS is always welcome and I think that if you give this one a try it will not disappoint. Thanks for another great series, Denise!
This was a wonderful story showing a woman’s strength no matter her age. I absolutely loved it and couldnt put it down. At first I wasnt sure what was happening to her until it got a little further into the story. I had an idea but wasnt completely sure but in the end it was glorious. And there was so much in this story that showed how to be a strong woman after being torn down by a man, as well as raising strong children. I really hope this series continues because I am really curious to see the progression.
I’ve been a fan of Denise Grover Swank for some time now, so when I heard she was creating a new series in the Paranormal Women’s Fiction genre, I was excited and intrigued! Let it All Burn gives us a truly unique and lovable heroine in Darcie Weatherby. She’s funny and smart. She’s devoted to her kids and just getting her stability back following the breakup of her marriage. She has an obnoxious boss, a difficult relationship with her mother, and could probably really benefit from a nap. Sounds like so many of my own 40-something girlfriends!
I don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say Darcie’s “change of life” is waaay more literal than normal, and her hot flashes pack a punch. With elements including a secret family curse, ancient mythology, and a mom’s determination to safeguard her children at all costs, this story will have you praying things work out well for Darcie as the action keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I don’t really enjoy true “fantasy” books. I LOVED this. There are paranormal elements but they are within my own world not some random planet or alternative universe, which I personally find far more interesting. It doesn’t get too far “out there” so go ahead and pick this one up and give it a go. It’s such a fun ride! I cannot wait to see where the story goes next.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book. I love Ms Swank’s work so I figured I would like this. I was completely blown away by this story. I was hooked from the start. Darcie resonated with me and I really enjoyed her story. Even though she’s a divorced mother and I am married, we still have a lot in common.
I am a woman of a certain age and I am in surgical menopause, well before I should be doing it naturally. I definitely have felt like my skin was burning and going to melt off. If I could feel like that but have powers to go with it, it might make it worth it. Well, almost.
I also loved that there was some romance but not too over the top with people falling for each other at the drop of a hat. That just kills it for me when that happens.
I can’t wait to read more shenanigans about Darcie and see how things go with her new adventures. I know she’s going to have some explaining to do to her kids and BFF and it’s sure to be entertaining.
Let it All Burn is a new book and hopefully the start of a great new series by Denise Grover Swank. I am not usually a huge fan of fantasy books, however, since it was written by one of my favorite authors, I figured that it would be an interesting read. I really enjoyed the story overall and I loved the incorporation of Greek mythology because I have always found it to be an intriguing subject.
I really liked the main character, Darcie, as she seemed to be someone I could relate to as a woman and as a mother. As a long time stay at home mom currently looking for a job, it was easy for me to understand a lot of what Darcie was going through in this book. She is a character that showed a lot of growth within this story and it was awesome seeing her become a stronger person when it was necessary. I also enjoyed several of the other characters in this book and I look forward to reading more about them in the next book.
I felt that the characters were well thought out and interesting, even the ones that were not as likable. I also thought that the descriptions of the fantasy aspect were well written and it was easy for me to imagine what everything looked like. I was not sure where this book was going to go when I started reading it but I enjoyed it once I learned what was going on with Darcie and everything surrounding the changes in her life. It was a fascinating book to read and I cannot wait for the next one!
Darcie Weatherby is a newly divorced mother of three. At 42 years old, she’s spent most of her life feeling secure, taking care of her husband and children without much thought to herself or her needs. Suddenly everything has changed. She’s newly single, middle age and struggling to make ends meet. With the onset of hot flashes, strange, unexplainable things start to happen that are terrifying. As she searches for answers to what is happening to her, she finds a new inner power that she lacked before and the determination and strength to find her answers.
Let it All Burn is full of betrayal, deception, danger, determination and awakenings.
I love that it is a book about a middle age woman and her struggles. Though supernatural things are occurring the story is realistic and captivating. I felt the trauma Darcie was going through and couldn’t wait to find out what happened.
No one spins a tale like Denise Grover Swank. I was drawn into the story completely and enjoyed it immensely. An absolute must read!
It’s been a while since I’ve read this author, and once I read this I couldn’t figure out why. This book was full of laughter, action, great/interesting characters, and a plot that made this peri-menopausal woman not feel so alone! LOL! Darcie with her kids and Nana were fun characters that I really want to get more. And I just love how the author built up the story and not jump right into it. We learned along with Darcie what was going on. Not only that, I’m interested in finding out how the events in this story will change Darcie’s relationship with her mother, the FBI agent, and her kids; it will be very…challenging. I can’t wait to read more about her new role and am eagerly awaiting more books. Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
This fabulous new book by Denise Grover Swank is absolutely amazing! As a mother no longer in my 20’s I can relate to the main character in this book since she, too, is a mother no longer in her 20’s. This woman took charge of her life after a few curve balls were thrown her way. She’s a strong independent woman who has to navigate life as a single mom with a single income. We see her enter into dating again and experience some pretty severe hot flashes. With a strong main character, fun best friend, annoying ex, awesome kids, a touch of romance, and some amazing paranormal, this book as it all!
This book is crazy!!! You think you know where it might be going but then it takes a complete left turn! But… I’m not even mad about it, it was really cool.
Darcie is a newly divorced woman in her 40s who unexpectedly starts going through perimenopause. As she does that, her hot flashes start causing fires! As she tries to figure out what is happening to her, she learns that maybe this has happened before.
While this book is not something I would normally read, I do love Denise Grover Swank and read a lot of things she’s written. I liked the main character of this book a lot, Darcie was smart, strong and willing to do what it takes. The kids and grandma were sweet and so were the friends. I generally liked all the characters expect the boss and the ex husband, but you’re supposed to hate them.
Like I mentioned the story took a bit of a left turn and did not go anywhere I was expecting but I didn’t mind it. The back story was cool and made sense. The main love interest was only in like a less than a quarter of the book and I don’t feel like that connection was very strong, but I understand that this was set up as a series so there will be more books to delve into that further.
All in all, 4 stars!
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I love paranormal, and this book you get paranormal but with a slow introduction, which was just at the right pace. Darcie, the main character is a typically older woman and with family but has just come the out the other side of a unpleasant divorce. This has made her stronger in herself and is all about female empowerment!
Something is happening to Darcie and whilst she tries to ignore it at first she does try to do something about it and break the curse.
This book was really well written and when the possible love interest was introduced it was still done gently and he didn’t come in all guns blazing and take over the story which is an absolute credit to the brilliance of Denise’s writing skills. I must go and check out the other stories from the other other authors in this PWF series
