Darcie Weatherby has a full plate—a preteen and sixteen-year-old twins, a wayward grandmother, a nightmare boss, and a manipulative ex-husband. The last thing she needs are hot flashes.Especially ones that start fires. But like most single mothers, Darcie sucks it up and deals with it, because what else can she do? The kids need to be fed, her grandmother needs supervising, and her demanding boss … her demanding boss needs placating.
Burning her boss’s house down was a total accident.
Honest.
It doesn’t take long before Darcie realizes she’s running on borrowed time. Unless she figures out a way to get these hot flashes under control, there’s a very good chance she’ll spontaneously combust at the Founder’s Day Masquerade Ball and leave her children motherless. There’s no way in hell—or Perry’s Fall, Ohio—Darcie will let that happen.
Never underestimate the determination of a mother.
Especially a smokin’ hot one.

Let it all Burn is an exciting ride! Darcie is a middle aged divorcee with 3 kids. Its truly refreshing to have a main charcter that is in her forties!! She starts to get hot flashes and setting fires. On her journey to figure out what is happening to her, she finds her strength. I love Darcie!! I love how she interacts with her kids and with the world around her. Her interaction with her kids is my favorite part. I love how she is trying to protect them and teach them. Her journey of self discovery is fun to witness. This book is a great read!! I laughed, I cried, I could not put it down. Anyone looking for mature characters, this book is for you!!
Loved it!!! One of the best and funniest fantasy books I have read in a long time. Hope there is a book 2!!!
Let It All Burn, by Denise Grover Swank, is book one in the From the Ashes series. At this time this is the only book in the series and can be read as a stand alone. But I’m not giving up hope that there will eventually be more books added because I loved it! This is an Urban Fantasy with lots of snark and a tough heroine that will do anything to protect the people she loves.
Darcie Weatherby is forty two years old, recently divorced from the worst husband ever, and a single mother to a pair of teen age twins and a pre-teen. She has had to go back to work full time as well as helping out her best friend in her coffee shop on the weekends. Add in a crazy grandmother and her plate is full.
“I would get a handle on this, because I had something to fight for. Three somethings to fight for.”
Darcie thinks she has begun to experience pre-menopause hot flashes. Only these hot flashes actually cause things to burn, like her bosses house. It was a total accident! Even if she was the absolute worst boss ever! Along with these flame throwing hot flashes, she is experiencing other changes as well. But she had to figure it out because it was scaring her kids and they’d been through enough.
Darcie, along with her cousin and her best friend, try their best to find information on what is happening to her. We are also introduced to the sexy FBI agent, Special Agent Heath Stone, whose intentions at first are a bit sketchy. One thing becomes certain, that Darcie needs to figure this out because this all seems to have an end date, the Founder’s Day Masquerade Ball.
“Destiny was reeling me in.”
I loved this book. First of all, I loved Darcie and her kids. They were close. The kids protected their mother as much as she tried to protect them. I was sucked right in at the very beginning, going through everything with Darcie while she tried to figure out what was happening. I loved how strong she was, loved her sassiness, and most of all, I loved her fierce dedication to her family. This was a fast paced, fun, suspenseful, adventure that I thoroughly enjoyed. I so hope there might be more books. I need more of Heath Stone most definitely. And I need more of Darcie.
Couldn’t put this down.. hope there’ll be more!
Menopause on steroids
What a ride, definitely fit’s the saying “life begins after 40” only Darcie would have never guessed this is how her’s would end up. She’s raised great kids that trust & believe in her and it’s that protective instinct that will serve her best going forward.
Wow! Was NOT what I was expecting… LOVED IT!
I had never read anything by Deniese Grover Swank… but after reading the blurb, I was defiantly intrigued. Gotta say, I was NOT disappointed, Once I got into it, could NOT put it down… LOVED IT! This will definitely NOT be the last, by her! Can NOT wait for the next part! Great writing, great characters… amazing story.
This is a new book by Denise and I loved it..
It’s about a 42 year old mother who is divorced and is starting to experience hot flushes, these aren’t any ordinary hot flushes either and they love to burn..
If you are after a clean and fun read this one is for you..
This book was such a fun read! I loved how original the story line was. The fact that Darcie is in her forties is a bonus.
Being a newly single mom and raising kids on her own and suddenly finding herself back in the work force has her life turned upside down. Her new boss is not exactly the nicest person, her ex-husband doesn’t pay child support which makes things tough on Darcie especially with teenagers in the house, very active teenagers. When a much younger man from the office asks her out on a date she is both terrified and flattered. Being hit on by another man while she and her date are waiting on their table is certainly a confidence booster. When a strange woman helps her and her daughter find the perfect dress for the date things start to get crazy, when the woman mutters something to her and then suddenly disappears Darcie starts to flip out, but the kicker for her are her really hot hot flashes.
Such a great read, such fun characters. Well written, great character development and the world building is excellent. Snap this one up you will not be disappointed.
Okay first off I have to tell you I really hate spoilers. That being said this is a difficult book to review for me without slipping some in but I am going to try my best.
Darcie Weatherby is a 42 year old single mother of 3 wonderful children. Doing her best to care and support them the best she can. Her ex isn’t much help, he is busy with his younger woman to care about the ones he left behind.
Darcie is struggling along in a job she isn’t really happy at and is going through some life changes. Hot flashes are starting, and by hot flashes I mean HOT flashes. Ones that start fires.
This is an interesting story that has laughter, pain, anger and a whole lot of confusion on her part. There is some Greek mythology in the story line as well.
Okay before I give things away I will just say that horrible hot flashes created one feisty, strong mother!
The story was a bit hard for me to follow in the beginning but it all came together. It does end on a cliffhanger of sorts.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this excellent storyline and the outstanding characters that were brought vividly to life by a new to me author that have more than sparked my interest! I am unbelievably excited for the next installment and have no idea how I’m going to survive the wait! A newly divorced mother of three finds herself overwhelmed when her life takes a surreal turn after a “hotflash” seems to be the cause of a fire that started where she was sitting. That however is not the strangest part of it. It only gets more interesting from there! The kids are well written characters with depth, her grandmother is a hoot, and the hot FBI agent has a lot of potential! Paranormal romance and adventure at its finest! This is definitely not a story you will want to miss!
Good and original story with an unusual twist at the end. It kept me guessing as to where the author was going. It looks like there may be more to the series, I hope so. This was a paranormal women’s fiction book with an older heroine. I really liked the character and the connection she had with her kids. Their love for each other shone through the story. I will gladly go on to the next one.
Spectacular storytelling. Denise Grover Swank sweeps us along in a tale of women, mothers and the thin line between worlds. Thanks for the amazing ride!

Let it All Burn: (From the Ashes Book 1)
This is such an emotive read, I loved every word. Darcie is such a great Mum, friend & person in general but is often used, pushed around or walked over because of her kindness! That starts to change when she finally removes her blinkers to her ex husband’s truly selfish nature, if it was just directed at her that would be fine but to deny their 3 children of his time & monetary help, well then the gloves will be off!!
When her hot flushes start & seem to be so extreme they’re starting fires, Darcie turns to her bestfriend & some family members for help to try & figure out what the neck is going on!! Remembering old stories that her Great Grandmother had spontaneously combusted she’s terrified. Then there’s the fact her hair seems to be becoming blond one strip at a time & wings are appearing to tattoo themselves under her skin and she’s completely freaked – her oldest daughter is too, unsurprisingly!! Something decidedly weird is going on. Then younger, hot guy, Parker asks on a date where she’s then hit on by a sexy gorgeous man, Austin, and her life is not what it was anymore! Things are changing – starting with Darcie herself!!
This a wonderfully warm hearted read. The characters & world are realistic & emotional. I loved her children & how much they all loved each other! I can’t wait to read more from this world!!

Darcie Weatherby is the mother of a preteen, sixteen-year-old twins, an independent grandmother, recently divorced and the last thing she needs are hot flashes…especially ones that start fires. After a couple of hot flash mishaps she needs to find a way to control them while taking care of her children and keeping an eye on her grandmother.
Let it All Burn by Denise Grover Swank was awesome! Darcie is a wonderful mother and friend…I could totally relate to her. There were lots of ahh, laugh out loud and sympathy for the hot flashes moments from me. This book is a new series and part of Paranormal Women’s Fiction #PWF…13 wonderful female authors have gotten together to create paranormal fiction for the 40 plus generation and I’m so excited to be reading these! Denise Grover Swank just got a new fan and I hope there are more books to follow!
