If you’re a guy like me, and you find yourself having banged your sexy new boss—the school principal—in the back of your Jeep one drunken night, here’s a few takeaways based on my experience…Lesson One: Always get her FULL name.Lesson Two: Consider asking what she does for a living.Lesson Three: Find out why she’s moved to town. Get details. Details are crucial.Lesson Four: Don’t alter her bio … moved to town. Get details. Details are crucial.
Lesson Four: Don’t alter her bio in front of an auditorium of high school students unless you know she has a sense of humor for that sort of thing.
Lesson Five: If you ignore Lesson Four, apologize instead of flirt when you’re sent to the principal’s office.
Lesson Six: NEVER sleep with her again.
Lesson Seven: Pay attention to this one—it’s the most important of them all.
Don’t fall for your one-night stand.
Class dismissed.

This story is fun and sad. It will have you checking a map of Alaska to see if this small town exist.
Holly comes to town as the new school principal and to meet her father for the first time. School is easy, meeting her father is the hard part until she has a one night stand.
Austin is a teacher and baseball coach at the same school. He is also Holly’s one-night stand. And he wants to see her again but after the night ends up on the town’s online blog, she doesn’t want anything to do with him.
This is a good story and I really enjoyed it. Read it and you might like it too.
Piper Rayne has certainly taken up a challenge with this series. In Lessons from a One Night Stand, we meet the Bailey family of Lake Starlight Alaska. The Baileys are nine, yes nine, siblings who were orphaned when their parents died in a tragic snowmobiling accident. Eldest siblings, Austin and Savannah, took the parental roles to raise their younger siblings without separating the family. Now, the two youngest siblings, twins Sedona and Phoenix, are graduating high school. This means that Austin can pursue his dream of coaching a college baseball team in California. What he doesn’t count on is that a steamy one night stand is about to turn his world upside down. The partner in this trist turns out to be Holly Radcliffe, the new temporary principal at Lake Starlight HS. Did I mention that Austin happens to be a teacher and coach at this school? Needless to say the sparks fly. Add to that the dynamic of 9 siblings, a wise matriarch in Grandma Dori, Holly’s own little secret, and all the angst of dealing with high schoolers and you’ve got yourself quite a story. Did I mention the town gossip blog that included Austin and Holly’s encounter as a post??? Oh my…..can’t live that one down. There are a lot of characters to keep up with but the story flows smoothly and the family dynamic is wonderful. Piper Rayne is so talented with character development, witty banter, and sizzling swoon worthy romance. Can’t wait to read more about the Baileys.
loved it
I listened to the audio version of this book. I absolutely loved this story! I love stories in which the H and h are so into each other that they can’t keep their hands off of each other and Lessons from a One-Night Stand is a prime example of that. The chemistry between Holly and Austin is off the charts!
None only is the book hot, but there is a really well developed story line to go with it. I loved that the duo of Piper Rayne has reversed the old plot of a couple having a one night stand and then the woman discovering that he is her new boss. It’s perfect that Holly is the new principal at the school Austin works at.
The family drama of both main characters plumps up the plot and makes the reader feel not so alone in their own family stuff going on. Austin’s extensive family and unique situation leads to many laughs and heartaches. Holly has her own family problems, even if her family is significantly smaller.
The story was awesome and the narrations by both Tanya Eby and Tim Paige were incredible!
I really enjoyed this book. It’s small town, quirky romance at it’s finest. The Buzz Wheel was a great comedic addition to this book. I loved Holly’s personality. She was a strong woman but had such vulnerability to her that I connected with her right away. It took awhile before I got the Bailey family straight, as there’s so many of them, but I felt once I got them figured out, they seem like a fun family I wouldn’t mind knowing in real life. I can’t wait to read more from this family.
I listened to Lessons From a One-Night Stand on Chirp. I loved the set-up of the one-night stand and the re-encounter the hero and heroine had. The dynamic between Austin and Holly was fun and kept me engaged. A lot of characters are introduced and I look forward to reading more about them in the rest of the series.
I really enjoyed reading this. Austin and his many siblings have suffered the loss of their parents at a very young age. Austin takes the reigns of raising his younger brothers and sisters while the eldest sister runs the family company. He doesn’t see this as a sacrifice, just doing what a family should. I feel like he saw it as a pause in life. Holly is in town looking for a father she has never met. A part of her longs for that connection. These two meet for one night, but it certainly doesn’t stay that way. Austin was so good with Holly, pushing her just enough and really being a shoulder for her to lean. Holly is a little harder to like, but she has Austin’s happiness in mind with most of her actions. I love how the authors portray the family dynamic because it is all there. The irritation, concern, bickering, and love. Great series start!
I’m in love with the Bailey’s family Yes, not only with the main characters, but with all of them. This is the first book in the series and it begins with the oldest brother Austin.
But it’s not only his life and love story, it’s also an unbelievable funny and exciting story about the extraordinary family bound.
Austin is the most responsible and patient from the siblings.
Yes, he has to be with the whole gang, but his style is just too funny for words
He is just so perfect and flawless, you’ve to love him.
Holly is the outsider in this small town. She moved to Lake Starlight for a job for a limited time. She is driven and focused on her job and her “goal”.
They both are very different but also very similar at the same time. They both know what they want, or they think they know at the beginning
This book is not only a story about the funny and amazing family dynamic, but also about a very unique town in Alaska, that feels and behave like a family itself.
And don’t forget the local news/gossip blog Buzz Wheel she/he is just hilarious
This book is not just a love romance, it’s sweet and swoony, but also hot and steamy as hell. You’re laughing and crying with them and you don’t want to stop reading.
I’m really happy that they are more books in the series already written, because I’ll definitely read all of them
Lessons From a One Night Stand is the first book in The Bailey’s Series and the first book that I have read by these dynamic duo authors or at least listened to since this was an audible book.
Principle Holly Radcliff has already met her one night stand and she did it in the back of a Jeep. Coach Austin Bailey needs to learn the 7 lessons that were in the blurb. They didn’t even know the others name.
Holly is from FL and now with a temporary new job as a principle in Lake Starlight, Alaska.
Austin had to leave a career in Baseball to come home and help with all his siblings after the tragic death of their parents. He is working as a Coach at the High School where Holly is the acting Principal. There are quite a few Baileys’
There are nine Baileys and they are Austin, Savannah, Brooklyn, Rome & Denver (twins), Juno, Kingston, Phoenix and Sedona (twins). I am looking forward to getting to know all these Baileys.
This is what I know so far as to who belongs to which book.
#1 Lessons From a one night Stand is Austin and Holly’s story
#2 Advice from a Jilted Bride – Brooklyn and Wyatt
#3 Birth of a Baby Daddy – Rome and Harley
I think that Piper and Rayne met their goal in bringing a heartwarming romance with humor and a side of sizzle! I enjoyed reading Lessons From a One Night Stand and I am looking forward to Advice from a Jilted Bride.
What do you do when the unforgettable sexy one night stand turns out to be your new boss? Find out how this unforgettable couple handles it in Lessons from a One-Night Stand. It’s the first in the Baileys Books, it will leave you wanting for more! I can’t wait for the next addition to this fantastic series. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc, but I loved it so much I purchased my own copy.
I am so unbelievably frustrated right now. In the last month alone I have read a dozen new authors and I want to read more of their work sooooo bad. And Piper Rayne is DEFINITELY an author that I am kicking myself for missing out on in the past.
Piper Rayne is completely new to me. Sure I have heard of them in the Indie Community, but Lessons from a One-Night Stand was my first opportunity to read something they wrote and DAMN! I FLOVED this book. Under no circumstances did this one disappoint. Now, it was news to me that apparently Piper Rayne is a writing duo and not a single author. So I would love to find out who the authors are and whether I’ve read their other works before. They just moved up to the must stalk category, because seriously, I absolutely loved this book.
Lessons from a One-Night Stand was a dual POV romance set in a small town of Alaska—Lake Starlight—and the writing sucked me in so fast it wasn’t even funny. I started this one at like 11 pm and ended up staying awake for about 5 hours just to devour as much of it as possible in one setting. I love Family Sagas and the Bailey family would definitely count as one. They were fun and had me laughing out loud with their antics. But it was so much more than that. I was unbelievably saddened by their loss and yet the way the siblings came together is the very definition of family! Obviously, this book is more than just about a one-night stand. And the relationship that unfolded between Austin and Holly was super fun, super sexy, and I couldn’t get enough. I am desperate to read more of the stories in this series. Lessons from a One-Night Stand was exactly why I am so addicted to romance… It’s that beautiful layering of sexxxy, sweet, heartwarming, light angst and all around awesomesauce!!! I HIGHLY recommend you get your hands on this one ASAP!
Austin left a bright future to go home in Alaska and take care of his siblings. While his sister, Savannah took care of the business, he chose to be the father-figure and run the household. Now, the twins are all grown-up, already in their senior year and Austin was ready to follow his dreams. He was teaching and coaching in their local high school, but he wanted to coach in college. Just a few more months and he was off to California.
Holly just moved to Alaska to fill-in for the principal that just gave birth. She got a temporary position. But it was just more than the position that brought her to the small town. She was in search of something. And that one hot night on the back of some hottie’s Jeep wasn’t it. Although it was really good. What she didn’t expect was to see that guy the next day and be the topic of the town’s online gossip blog.
I am so in love with this book. It was just so much fun, and heartwarming and I love the relationship between the characters. The relationship of the Bailey Kids and the rest of the town, not to mention Austin’s relationship not just with Holly and his siblings, but his class as well. He is the “cool teacher”, and the kids simply adore him. These kids know who really cares for them- and that’s him. He changed their lives – so what’s not to love about him? I was just glad he finally decided where he should be and what he should do about his life.
Holly is easily likable. She’s funny, witty and an amazing lady. She is so made for Austin. I like the fact that she didn’t push Austin to stay, instead she supported him and his dreams even if it meant they had to end what they started. It’s a good thing she has the cool mom and the coolest friend.
This was one hilarious read with great romance and interesting set of characters to open a new series. I am sure you’d get easily hook with the Baileys.
4.5 stars
I’m a huge fan of these authors. They have this ability to bring really likeable characters to life and the Bailey family are the perfect example of this.
Lessons From A One Night Stand is Austin’s story and I couldn’t put it down. Austin gave up a lot to be the one to bring his siblings up. Now they’re getting older it’s time he started making changes and to go after what he wants. He’s not expecting sexy new principal Hollys arrival to rock his world like it does but he finds he can’t keep away from her.
Holly is new in town and determined to keep things professional with Austin. Austin obviously has other ideas and let’s be honest no one can ignore the chemistry between these two for long. But Holly’s only there temporary, she’s got a secret and Austin has his own plans for the future so can these two make it work?
I loved this book. I love the whole family dynamic that these authors excel at. The story, the characters, the chemistry…it’s all exactly how I like it.
I am so ready for the rest of the Baileys and their stories and can’t wait for more from Piper Rayne.
