If you’re a guy like me, and you find yourself having banged your sexy new boss—the school principal—in the back of your Jeep one drunken night, here’s a few takeaways based on my experience…Lesson One: Always get her FULL name.Lesson Two: Consider asking what she does for a living.Lesson Three: Find out why she’s moved to town. Get details. Details are crucial.Lesson Four: Don’t alter her bio … moved to town. Get details. Details are crucial.
Lesson Four: Don’t alter her bio in front of an auditorium of high school students unless you know she has a sense of humor for that sort of thing.
Lesson Five: If you ignore Lesson Four, apologize instead of flirt when you’re sent to the principal’s office.
Lesson Six: NEVER sleep with her again.
Lesson Seven: Pay attention to this one—it’s the most important of them all.
Don’t fall for your one-night stand.
Class dismissed.

Piper Rayne is a new writing duo for me. I haven’t read anything by them before. I am so glad that I took a chance and read Lessons From A One-Night Stand. This was a fun, flirty, sweet and lovable romance story. I was thoroughly entertained.
Lesson From A One-Night Stand is the start of a new series by this writing duo. This series is going to follow the siblings in the Bailey Family. I would classify this book as a romantic comedy, because there was quite a bit of humor in the story, but it also had all the feels you get in a story with heart.
This is an office romance that is backdropped in a school. It is a standalone but since this series focuses on all the siblings, I would recommend reading them in order. Being the first in the series we get to know all of the Baileys in this book. The focus is on Austin, the oldest sibling, but we get introduced to everyone else too. This story is told in Dual POV and I thought the flow and pace worked well.
Like I said this story is about Austin Bailey and Holly Radcliffe. Austin is the oldest Bailey and since the family suffered a tragedy 9 years ago, he has taken over the responsibility of raising his younger siblings. Now he is thirty and a high school teacher and baseball coach, but his dream, the one he gave up to come home and take care of his siblings, is to coach a college level baseball team. So now that his youngest sisters are graduating from high school, he is determined to leave town. But what happens when his One-Night stand shows up at school and is now his boss?? Can Holly and Austin find a HEA?? Will Austin’s dreams change after getting to know Holly better?? Read this enjoyable love story to find out.
I loved getting to know all the Bailey siblings. I love a good family saga series and look forward to reading more about each of them.
So if you are a fan of a family series and like a story that is fun, entertaining and without a lot of excess drama, then you should read Lessons From A One-Night Stand!!!
Loved this and will definitely be reading the rest of the series!
I absolutely love this new family; I cannot wait to see how all of these Bailey’s happily ever afters play out. Watching Austin and Holly’s journey was fantastic; I felt the love between them from the beginning. So many fun and romantic moments, I was swooning.
Does a steamy one night stand become more? Holly and Austin’s escapades and family devotions carry them through a lifetime it seems and Alaska finds them together to help each other realize what seeking one’s dreams really means. Didn’t want to put this one down. Loved the characters and family interaction and this new author to me.
This story of a one-night-stand becoming so much more is so moving. Holly and Austin really go through a lot, but finally he realizes, she is everything he’ll ever need.
This multi-layered RomCom has well-developed characters that will win your devotion. The attraction sparks, the situation develops and you’re along for the ride. Great read!
This is the first book in The Bailey Series. I love the Baileys! Holly and Austin’s story is fun, humorous, sexy, romantic, and heartwarming. Some scenes are hilarious! I like the gossips! Holly is smart, and supportive. Austin is handsome, and caring. They are perfect together. Austin has nine siblings (named after the place they were conceived!), so the cast of supporting characters is impressive. Grandma Dori is a fantastic supporting character. The story is set in Lake Starlight, a small town in Alaska. I love the family bonds, and the friendship is this story. Tanya Eby and Tim Paige did a wonderful job with the narration. I enjoyed it! Looking forward to listen to Advice from a Jilted Bride, Brooklyn’s story.
The first book of The Baileys. I love it! I spend all the time loving this book. I laughed so much! And fall in love with Austin and Holly .
Now I want to read the rest of the Baileys stories so excited!!!
4.5 Stars
I really did like Austin and Holly’s story. I switched between the audiobook and the actually book.
I haven’t read any of the Bailey’s books before. I just know I’m going to devour them. I am a huge fan of the writing style. Loved their chemistry love all the characters!
“You’ll find out one day that life has a way of changing what’s most important to you. That’s the great thing about life—nothing is ever really set in stone.”
First time reader of Piper Rayne. These authors…yes there’s two, have written a rom-com that had me giggling, whilst my heart broke for the little girl who just wanted her daddy. The only things that really matter in life is happiness, good health, love and family. A beautiful small town romance, where the Buzz Wheel is the talk of the town. LFAONS has a fabulous storyline and I couldn’t help but want Dori for my own blue haired grandmother.
Lake Starlight’s founding family the Bailey’s are siblings with huge characters. Nine siblings, two sets of twins and a timber company to run. Imagine you have your life planned out, you’re on your way to making them a reality, but then life takes you on a different path…one that you would never choose. Now you have huge responsibilities and a family who is depending on you. Sure your dreams don’t look the same, but it’s your dream so you’ve edited it. Now you just have to wait for the right time.
Holly takes on the temporary position of Lake Starlight High School Principal. It the perfect job while she is on a mission to discover the father she never knew. Her mother doesn’t know she is in Alaska looking for him and her best friend Dana tries guiding her from Florida. Meeting Austin Bailey wasn’t on her to do list, but he is only too happy to have some fun without any expectations for a few months. Holly finds herself fitting right into this new lifestyle and finds new friends amongst the locals.
Holly and Austin
Definitely not a predictable read which makes me so happy. I would have made one change but that’s me. Loved the characters as they added so much to the book. Highly recommend that you give this book and the series a try.
I’ve been searching high and low for a family series similar to The Landrys by Adriana Locke and I think I’ve found it! The Baileys are a rambunctious group of 9, yes NINE, siblings who live in a small town in Alaska and I’m obsessed! Lessons From A One-Night Stand is Austin’s story, the oldest of The Baileys. This book features a friends with benefits situation between a teacher and a principal with a small-town setting that will wrap you up and envelope you into this crazy little town.
Austin is one of my favorite kinds of heroes. He is sweet, charming, swoon-worthy, and just such a loveable character. He stepped up when his family needed him the most even though it changed his path in life. I’m not done with this man and I can’t wait to see his appearances throughout the rest of the series.
Holly is a trooper! She is thrown into this new position and not only is she dealing with why she came to Alaska, but now she’s found herself all over the town gossip blog. Nevertheless, she is a strong woman and with every situation that occurs, she learns something new about herself. She fit so well in this little town and I was so happy to see her settle in.
Austin and Holly were great together! They showed each other so much about what the future can hold and while I was a bit skeptical about how everything would unfold, I’m super happy with how it did. I was a bit disappointed we didn’t get to see that first meeting between them though!
With this book being the first of nine, one of its jobs was to set the pace of the series and create the world for the books going forward. I think this one did an excellent job at that, but I do think that so much went on that I didn’t quite get enough relationship building and content between Austin and Holly. I loved them separately and the moments between them that we got to see I loved, but I just wish there was a little more.
Overall, I did really enjoy this book. I always enjoy the dynamic of big families and how we get to see each sibling grow, progress, and find love throughout a series. I am super excited to continue reading this series because each sibling is so different from the last!
Unputdownable. Loved this book from the first paragraph. Witty, irreverent, steamy and full of heart, this first look into the Bailey series is an example of how to introduce a series and entertain the reader. Very, very well done!
Lessons From a One Night Stand is steamy, sweet, fun, exciting, angsty and so much more! I loved it from page one and can’t wait to read the rest of The Baileys series. I now want a Austin of my own and would be happy to be part of the gossip blog the town loves so much. This sexy romance should be at the top of your to be read books this year, you will find yourself smiling, tearing up at times and just getting all the feels from this truly wonderful read!
Love Austin and Holly and the entire Bailey family! Lessons from a One-Night Stand is sexy, hilarious and romantic. Loved the reversal of the “woman sleeps with man and finds out he’s her boss” trope. Piper Rayne’s books are always entertaining and this one is no exception. I can’t wait to read about all the other Bailey siblings!
Another amazing book to get lost in! The Bailey siblings couldn’t be more real, and Grandma Dori is the icing on the cake. Not to mention Buzzwheel…
Again (yes, this is book#1, but I started out of order), Tanya Eby & Tim Paige do a great job bringing all of these characters to life.
Just wow, the world of the Bailey’s is like no other place. Amazing scenes, wonderful and funny characters that you just can’t help but fall in love with over and over again.
Kind of funny, but got frustrating.
This was overall a good book. I was just a bit confused in the beginning. I wasn’t sure if this was a spin-off from another series due to not being introduced to many of the characters. I did a quick search of their other series, but came up with nothing, so I’m still not sure. Every time someone new popped up, they were spoken about as if I should automatically know who they were.
Conversations were being had with other people with no explanation as to who they were.
“Best friend Jack shows up to help him coach. He just got back from his honeymoon. That’s it. Nothing else. ”
“Brooklyn walks into the kitchen and says “Hey guys”. It’s never stated that she’s his sister and whether she is the 3rd oldest, 2nd youngest, etc. Only that she is getting married to some guy he doesn’t like.”
I mean I figured it was his sister if she just popped in like that. But gain, that’s it, no other detail about her.
I felt a little lost reading this and that is basically my only problem with this book. It was well written and I really enjoyed it. Hopefully I will learn more with the next one in the series.
Austin is just a nice-guy. No stress…just a really good read.
