Mia is a soulful writer so you’re guaranteed a story which is filled with tender emotions and you will have soft tear-brimmed eyes cause the abundance of sentiments need to spill over.
“Why are you looking at me?”
“Because I like your face.”
The story starts as a simple boy and a girl in foster home. Leo McKenna and Evelyn “Evie” Cruise.
They’re young and full of hope. Under the Starlit sky, they spin dreams and make promises.
“I’m going to kiss you now, Evie, and when I do, it’s going to mean that you’re mine. I don’t care how far away from each other we are.
You. Are. Mine.
I’ll wait for you. And I want you to wait for me.”
Till life interrupts and shatters their plans.
Eight years have passed and there’s no sign of Leo and his promise. She’s now gained a creepy Stalker aka Jake Madsen.
“My Evie, my heart, my savior. My lion tamer.”
And here’s where I had the problem. she agrees to date the Stalker cause he’s deliciously handsome. Ok, I can live with that.
On first date he asks “how many men have you been with ”
That irked me a bit, and she answers too.
Maybe if I’d read this book early on when it released. I’d have liked it more.
It’s sweet, thoughtful and hallmark worthy.
4 stars for half lion, half boy
I liked Evie and how hard she worked to be more than she had in foster care. I thought it was funny how she meets Jake. They had great chemistry together and the ending has a great twist.
Leo and Evie were brought together by a sad circumstance and when they were teenagers they were pulled apart but made promises to each other. When Leo fails to fulfill his promise Evie must build a life without him. Eight years later when a handsome man named Jake comes into Evie’s life she feels a special pull towards him, little does she know Jake is a man of many secrets that may destroy what they are starting to build. This book had a story that was heart wrenching with all the pain these characters went through. It just showed that it may look perfect on the outside but what is inside a person can be totally different. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Such an amazing story and I highly recommend this.
I feel like I have had this book on my shelf forever and I’ve picked it up and toyed with starting it so many times but never did….. until today. I could hardly put this book down. I was immediately drawn into the story. I do wish revelations about this plot had come sooner than they did, especially this being a book that isn’t as long as most. But I think a lot of me feeling that way was because I went into this book so blind and I was dying to know how it would all play out. Hence, me reading it in a few hours. I am thrilled to know now that there is another book with a different POV of this story and it’s one of the few that I am like, I need to read that NOW. This was my first Mia Sheridan book and I had understood that her stories were more of the emotional side and while, this isn’t the most emotional book I have ever read… with little more than 200 pages, the author convinced my heart to care about these characters and their stories from page one. I do not want to tell you anything about this plot because I think going in blind is best with this story. Other books by this author have appealed to me and thankfully, a few already reside on my shelf and I have a feeling that I will be purchasing many more now that I have seen the way Mia Sheridan can pull on a reader’s heartstrings. I would for sure recommend this to almost every reader. There are a few trigger warnings but I don’t give those out unless specifically asked in private so as not to spoil anyone’s reading experience. If you are someone that likes to know and heed them then I will gladly provide them, otherwise go into this blind and I think you will enjoy.
So so good
