The residents of Lake Eden, Minnesota, are planning to paint the town red, white, and blue to celebrate the Fourth of July—but the fireworks are already going off at Hannah Swensen’s bake shop, The Cookie Jar. . . Lemon Meringue Pie Murder Hannah Swensen thought she’d finally discovered the recipe for a perfect life. But her sometime beau Norman Rhodes tosses a surprise ingredient into the mix … ingredient into the mix when he phones to tell her he’s just bought a house from local drugstore clerk Rhonda Scharf—which he plans to tear down in order to build the dream home he and Hannah designed. It seems the plan has been cooking for quite some time, and Hannah’s shocked. Especially since her ring finger is still very much bare. . .
The good news is that the soon-to-be-torn-down house is full of antiques—and Norman has given Hannah and her mother first dibs. They uncover some gorgeous old furniture, a patchwork quilt . . . and Rhonda Scharf’s dead body. A little more sleuthing turns up the half-eaten remains of a very special dinner for two—and one of The Cookie Jar’s famous lemon meringue pies. Now it’s up to Hannah to turn up the heat—and get busy tracking down clues. Starting in her very own kitchen.

Fluke captures small town life realistically.
I like all of her books and the Hallmark mystery series based on her books. The main character, Hannah Swenson, is great and they’re good cozy mysteries without being too violent and gory…
Great characters
Love this series. Especially the yummy recipes.
The cozy continues… I can’t get enough of these type of books. They transport me out of regular life and drop me in the reality I sometimes want to be my own. But I can also escape it when I need to…
A cop and a dentist after me? Perhaps not my ideal but it is for Hannah. I enjoy her escapades and look forward to what comes next!
Like all of her books it is very entertaining.
People who think small-town life is boring ought to move to Lake Eden! Hannah is back and doing what she does best this Fourth of July. When the body of the local cosmetics girl is found dead Hannah is asked by no less than 4 people to investigate. Well a girls got to do what a girls got to do and Hannah has to investigate. What she finds is shocking and honestly heartbreaking. Join Hannah at The Cookie Jar for some sleuthing and delicious cookies.
Hannah’s mom finds the body this time around, and the victim was about to leave town on a trip. Why kill her now? The mystery was a little obvious, but the book was still fun.
Loved it. Love the series!
Love the earlier Hannah Swenson stories, this one included. They’re fun to read with likeable characters. All books include great recipes as well.
The later books in this series are not so enjoyable. It actually feels like there’s a completely different author writing them. It’s unfortunate because the author has destroyed the characters and storyline.
All of Joanne Flukes mysteries are fun and easy to read
