Meet Phoenix Steel….. down on his luck. He’s a fallen rock star who desperately wants a comeback. But it’s hard to overcome sins of the past. He was a teenage singing sensation who let his fame, fortune and popularity get the best of him. But no matter how much talent one has, falling into drug and alcohol abuse leads to destruction, and in Phoenix’s case, tragedy.
Meet Maggie Carrigan …. she’s looking for a big break in the music industry. She’s talented and can perform…. but she has a huge problem. Phoenix was her childhood crush and she has to go against him in competition. He’s the very one she saw every night. Yep, it was his posters papering her bedroom walls. How does she compete against him? Can she?
Phoenix and Maggie… on the surface they looked like total opposites. His childhood certainly was not exemplary. He was emancipated from his parents and was a child phenom. Maggie was the daughter of a small town preacher. Her parents were very controlling and strict.
Phoenix and Maggie may be from two different worlds, but both have needs. He needs a second chance and redemption. She needs that big break, this is her one chance. She has to win. That’s the only way she’ll break free from her doting and controlling parents. After all, it’s not easy being a preacher’s kid where expectations are over the top.
But, as they say, opposites attract, and in true Victoria Pinder style, Phoenix and Maggie will capture your heart while you root for them both to come out winners.
Phoenix and Maggie have an instant connection as soon as they meet. Phoenix brings the hot, jagged edge of bad boy rock star. While Maggie brings small town determination to make it big. Together they are explosive. Unfortunately, they are competing for the top prize in a reality show. Victoria Pinder is an extraordinary author that can bring her characters right into your life as you read. This book is the start of another awesome series by one of my favorite authors. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Two of the finalists of a singing reality show become very attracted to each other. Phoenix has already had tv and musical careers then crashed and burned. He is looking for a comeback. His greedy parents didn’t help the situation. Maggie is the minister’s Innocent daughter from a small town who wants to break loose and be free to sing and live on her own. It’s a sweet love story and then there is the manipulation and sabotage behind the curtains to affect the outcome. You almost expect the bookies betting on who will win. You always wonder what goes on with these reality shows and how unbelievable they are. Well written and a lightweight first of a new series. It was a very enjoyable read.

This book tells the story of a couple who meet and fall in love on a TV reality show of the last eight contestants competing for an album and to be the headliner on a six-month tour. Legendary Rock Star Phoenix Steele was a child star then he was the sixth member of a very famous band that have been only five members after Phoenix was kicked off. Now he still writes many of their songs as well as for a considerable number of other singers. He is attracted to Maggie who is as different from Phoenix as can be: innocent, from midwest, daughter of a minister, lives in their basement in a small town. The only thing they have in common is being an only child and their inborn musical talent. You will hate the TV producers as they make ‘good show’ at the expense of the contestants as Phoenix tries to change his image and make a comeback while Maggie breaks free of her doting parents.
A great start to a new series. If you like rock star themed books, you’ll love this one. Well written with strong, likable characters. This book was overflowing with drama and emotion. I found it hard to put down once I began. This is Phoenix and Maggie’s story and it will tear at your heart. Their chemistry is explosive and guaranteed to set your Kindle on fire. A great book that I know you will enjoy. I read as an arc and voluntarily chose to review.
Legendary Rock Star was a unique spin on the rock star romance stories & I really enjoyed it. The author created interesting & real characters that the reader could identify with & root for.
I look forward to reading more in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I liked this rock star story as it is different from most rock stories. Phoenix was a rock star at a very young age. Unfortunately he let it go to his head when he was in his late teens and lost his way. I liked that he is now in his early twenties, but has learned his lesson and is doing everything he can to walk a straight line. I can understand some of how he was because of his parents. I am so glad he had his uncle’s family and his manager Mark to help him. He wants to make a comeback and is on a show similar to American Idol to win. He meets Maggie who is the opposite of him and especially brought up different than him. Phoenix is attracted to her. Maggie had a crush on him when she was younger, but she is here to win the contest. The show pulls some dirty tricks on the contestants which did not make me happy. Maggie has a hard time trusting Phoenix. I felt bad because Phoenix was helping everyone of the contestants to be better and is honorable now. I encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
I’m really enjoying this author’s work & this latest release is no exception… I’m not one to regurgitate the story. What I will mention though is how this particular novel drew me in. A most unlikely couple at first glance but he was smitten & their collaboration on a new album brought them even closer. She came to trust him & the heart knows what it wants. I’m so glad Victoria gave Phoenix another chance & if you’re a fan of the series this will not disappoint. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
Legendary Rock Star is the first book in a new series by Victoria Pinder. It is the story of Phoenix Steel, a fallen rock star who is vying for a comeback on a television show, 5 years after being kicked out of the hottest band on the radio. There he meets another contestant, Maggie Carrigan, who is looking to win the album contract and guaranteed singing tour. Although Phoenix and Maggie have instant chemistry, there are numerous obstacles that must be overcome before they find their HEA ending.
This is a relatively clean book with no graphic sex scenes and only a few f-bombs. The author has introduced us to wonderful characters, warts and all. The plot was believable and entertaining. Having been a long time fan of this author, I had high expectations for this book and was not disappointed. I look forward to reading her next book in this series.
Maggie always had a crush on Phoenix, he was her teenage obsession. Now both of them are in competition and the winner could be only one.
Wonderful story enemies to lovers.
Phoenix Steel and Maggie Carrigan are both appearing on a tv singing competition show, for different reasons; he’s looking to make a comeback after a hiatus from his former rock career, due to leaving the scene of a car accident he’d caused, by driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving his female groupie for dead, while he panicked and called his Mr Fixit, Agent to the Stars,Mark Power, to keep him out of jail.On the other hand, Maggie’s a simple young woman, who’s had a strict religious upbringing and has no idea of how the music industry really works and thinks she has a real chance of winning the prize money and an album contract. Problem is, she’s hero-worshipped Phoenix since she was a teen, with posters of him adorning her bedroom walls. Will her infatuation continue now she’s met the real Phoenix? Has Phoenix only got one thing on his mind – winning the competition at all costs? Can love win all?Victoria Pinder’s excellent new An Enemies to Lovers Romance (Steel Family) series Book 1, Legendary Rock Star and get ready to ‘dance'(read) the night away!
Good Rock And Roll Romance
This was a well written, easy to read, lovely romantic tale. This romance was woven through the processes of a singing competition. Ms. Pinder delved in to all the intricacies of how a show of this nature is produced. From the unseen back areas of make-up and costume, through to the on-camera live performances, to the judges and the host of the show. These details provided insight into all the machinations of a production of this type.
I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel from the author and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.
Set aside most of a day for this family-friendly tale of a dream come true. I read an ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
Another great read by Victoria Pinder who once again brings strong, well developed characters and an entertaining story line. She does a great job bringing Phoenix and Maggie together, giving them a hot chemistry and steamy romance. I loved the story and would recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I had been in a funk. Having a great deal of trouble focusing on any story. Until I decided to read this one. It was just what I needed. The rollercoaster ride was within acceptable tolerances for me. A truly delightful love story.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. This is my honest review.
I enjoyed this book about Phoenix and Maggie and their battle to win a reality TV competition. Phoenix and Maggie come from completely different backgrounds and have little in common except for music, however, they have chemistry and together they are dynamic. This book has great characters, a lot of angst and trust issues but has a HEA. A great start to a new series.
