USA TODAY BESTSELLER • The Arizona Vengeance is hockey’s hottest new team. But hockey’s hottest goalie is learning that even the best players sometimes need an assist. “You don’t have to like sports to love these books!”—New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis Everything is clicking for the Vengeance. We may be new, but we’re well on our way to winning the championship, and I’m having … on our way to winning the championship, and I’m having the time of my life headlining the sports media as the hottest goalie—hell, player—ever. I for one am going to live up to my name . . . because I am Legend Bay.
Dragging my ass home from the gym, I’m blinded by some gaudy, glowing holiday lights. As usual, my hot-as-hell neighbor Pepper Nantais has gone way over the top. But just as I’m about to tell her off, something else catches my eye . . . Seems like Santa left me a present, and not one I was expecting.
As life takes an unexpected turn, I realize that there’s much more to Pepper than meets the eye. Sure, she’s gorgeous. And exasperating. And her taste in decorating may be a bit . . . unique.
But beneath her carefree demeanor is a fierce determination and a heart of gold. And before I know it I’ve fallen for her. Hard . . .
Pepper is exactly the woman I never knew I needed.

Another great story by Sawyer Bennett. Legend and Pepper have been enemies until a surprise is left by the front door. Instant chemistry and a friendship is born. I was hooked from beginning to end and highly recommend this book. Can’t wait to read Dax’s book.
WOW! Just wow!
Legend, is a goalie hockey god.
He is at the top of his league, a new expansion team that has everyone talking.
Pepper, his next door neighbor drives him crazy, with her need to place lawn ornaments everywhere. She is all about the bright colors.
She is a children’s author, who illustrates her own books.
When a baby is left on Legend’s, front steps, with a note claiming that she belongs to him, he turns to Pepper, to help him figure out what to do.
Pepper, falls hard for both dad and baby and finds herself in quite a mess, when the babies mom comes back demanding to see the baby she abandoned.
The thing that I love about this series, is how she continues to make the whole team feel like a your family.
You want to know what is going on in all their lives as they are such a tight knit bunch.
I also love the audio to these books.
Sawyer Bennett is definitely a one click author for me.
I’m looking forward to Dax’s story.
I love all Sawyer Bennets hockey series.
This was such a delicious story for so many reasons. There’s the hot, single dad who is pretty hard to resist. Even though a baby is totally unexpected, Legend throws himself into being a parent with all sorts of love and energy. Once he gets his hands on that little girl he does just about anything to keep her safe and happy. He just needs a little help from his formerly annoying neighbor
.And that’s another reason this was a fun read – the enemies to lovers trope. While Pepper and Legend weren’t really enemies, she did love to get under his skin and annoy the dickens out of him. She (and I) just thought he did need a little shaking up but he didn’t see it that way. Which made it all the better. And you totally knew that things were gonna lead to the bedroom eventually … and whew! They know how to keep things steamy.
I really loved Pepper and Legend together. She’s not really as zany as she’s made out to be, which I think helps. She’s just a little bit original and artsy, which are not the first things that you would think of to describe Legend. But he is strong and steady and learns to enjoy the color she brings to his life.
Unfortunately things don’t work out 100% easy for Legend when he finds out that he’s a dad, so there is a bit of mama drama going on. All of which leads up to quite a suspenseful ending, but while that part was fun it was the human piece of Legend learning to be a dad and seeing Pepper in a new light that really made this read a hit for me.
**Review given honestly and freely after receipt of a reader copy. This opinion is completely my own and was not influenced in any way.**
I really enjoyed this one, it had a little suspense thrown in with the hot and steamy romance. Legend is thrown for a loop and his neighbor Pepper is there to help. They have a unique relationship to begin with but as time moves on they discover the passion between them. This book was amazing and wonderful. I can’t wait for the next one.
enemies to lovers at the rink, count me in!
I am so loving this new hockey series by Sawyer!
Follow the story of Legend, who can’t stand the outlandish yard displays his neighbor Pepper continues to put in her yard! Until one fateful night, he runs to her for help and she’s there for him at the time to help him through it and be there by his side.
I will not go into details on this review, I feel it’s best to read along and feel the experiences like I did!I will tell you that you will swoon over Legend! 5 stanley cups for this one, grab it as soon as it’s available! And I’m so looking forward to the next in this series
I am happy to say that I really enjoyed Legend. I had been having a bit of a hard time with the heros in the last few books by Sawyer Bennett. But Legend Bay was not one of them. He accepted his new role with trepidation but was really willing to learn and grow as a parent. He also really saw Pepper and accepted that he was attracted to her. I really liked the natural progression of their relationship and that the angst in the plot was centered on Lida and not bad communication between Legend and Pepper. I also liked how each book in the series slightly overlaps. It’s like getting extra epilogues.
Legend is just one more great read from Sawyer Bennett. The story was riveting and I couldn’t put it down. I felt I was there with Legend when he found his daughter and when he learned to take care if her. Also his struggles in juggling a career and family.
Hockey Romance what’s not to love?? I love this new series by Sawyer Bennett about the Arizona Vengence hockey team. Legend in the starting goalie and is having a great season with a little distraction from his quirky neighbor Pepper. The big distraction comes when he finds a newborn on this doorstep with a note of surprise from his former girlfriend. This book has a great storyline with how this hot hockey player copes with being a father and the help he gets along the way from Pepper. What a beautiful story of love with a drama and danger along the way. Loved it!!!
Steamy goodness! I loved this story! Lots of surprises keep the reader on the edge of their seat throughout, as we watch this adorable couple meander the roadblocks popping up around every corner. They’re great together. I can’t wait to read the next couple of books in this series. So much is happening!
Arizona Vengeance goalie Legend Bay is living life and enjoying every moment of it. The team’s doing great and the only thing he has to gripe about is his annoying neighbor. She is so over-the-top that every little thing she does just drives him bananas, but when an unexpected discovery leaves him at her mercy, she comes through for him top notch. He can’t bring himself to hate on her anymore … especially once he gets to know what a really nice woman she is.
Pepper Nantais has been crushing on Legend for while now, but there’s no way she’s going to let the arrogant jerk know that. She’ll help him out of this mess he finds himself in, but she doesn’t have to like it. Until she starts to … a little too much!
Legend is book three of Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance series. It can be read on it’s own, or as an amazing part of the series. I absolutely love how Sawyer introduces characters in previous books and continues to intricately weave them among the storylines in future books. Whether this is the first book you have read or part of a series, I think you will enjoy it.
I devoured this book. If I had to take a break (for real life getting in the way) I constantly thought about it. I liked the chemistry between Legend and his eccentric neighbor, Pepper as they were introduce in previous books. I couldn’t wait to know them better.
Legend is Arizona’s newest goalie. He is used to taking care of business on his own, but sometimes he has to reach out for help. The last things he expects it to reach out to his sexy, but annoying neighbor. But when a situation presents itself, he is left with no choice.
I absolutely love their combustible chemistry. They
may have started out as bickering neighbors, but they each will put their life on the line to do the right thing.
Not only does Sawyer tell Legend and Pepper’s story, she introduces many others I can’t wait to read about. I love her Arizona Vengence series. They are such unique characters. I wish I could get the next book in this series NOW!
Well Done, Saywer. I was completely entertained with Legend!
*5 Stars*
ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
This series has very quickly become a favourite of mine. I LOVE getting to know this team and each and every character as the books are released.
Legend’s story grabbed me right from the get go. Chapter 1, oh boy oh boy. I instantly messaged my friend and was like…you neeeeddd to tell me when you’re reading this so I can see your reactions. I just knew it would be that kind of book.
I truly loved watching Legend grow and mature with the events that happen in this story. And with Pepper along side him, things are lots of fun as well. She also has some depth to her, and its really sweet getting to know the real woman under her quirky lawn ornament exterior.
We also get plenty of time with the other guys on the team who we have grown to know and love. I cannot wait for Dax and Tacker to get their stories. I was already keen, but after events which unfold during this book, I really NEED those two stories now. Please, Sawyer?
We have plenty of serious events and issues taking place in this book, but its all written really well and there isn’t any unnecessary angst or anything like that. Everything flows smoothly, follows on well from the previous two books, and leaves things in a great spot for Legend, and with some hints (at least I think so) for Dax and Tacker.
Highly recommend this one!

~~ 4 LEGENDARY STARS! ~~
I always get an ADRENALINE RUSH whenever I dive into a new ARIZONA LEGEND book, and I swear each and every one of these hunky NHL players just OWN my heart!
I was particularly razzed about LEGEND because this third standalone installment has two of my fave tropes… enemies to lovers and insta-daddyhood…and wowza did the always spectacular Sawyer Bennett score a HUGE GOAL with this wildly addictive hockey romance!
THE STORY:
Legend Bay has enough on his plate living up to his legendary rep as a star goalie for the ARIZONA VENGEANCE expansion team, but on top of that, he has to deal with his annoyingly quirky neighbor, Pepper Nantais, whose artsy fartsy persona and gaudy Christmas lawn decorations are WAY OTT! Their feud started the moment that Pepper moved in next door, putting a major crimp in this gorgeously grumpy hockey stud’s neat and orderly life! And to make matters worse, he is CRAZY ATTRACTED to the sexy siren! But apparently, Santa has an early Xmas surprise in store for Legend—in the form of a precious newborn baby girl on his doorstep–which proves to be the ULTIMATE GAME CHANGER.
Eeeep…talk about a shockeroo!
According to the note that’s tucked into the baby carrier, the tiny infant is HIS and the mom is unable to care for her. So, guess who pitches in to help this befuddled new daddy learn the ropes? Yup…you guessed it:. Pepper, his sweet nemesis steps up to the plate bigtime and proves there’s far more to her than meets the eye. Their close proximity fans the flames of their passion, but while the sex is MIND-BLOWING, Legend can’t afford to be distracted by his burgeoning feelings for this kind-hearted, bohemian beauty. After all he has a championship to help his team win and a baby to raise. But the heart wants what the heart wants…and when unexpected danger strikes and precious lives are left hanging precariously in the balance, will this all-star goalie be granted a desperately needed miracle?
MY MUSINGS:
Oh my heart!! This sweet and scintillating sports romance was a total swoonfest! LEGEND is chock full of fluttery feels, heartfelt moments, sizzling hot sexy times…and even a dash of pulse pounding suspense.
I was immediately sucked into this fast burning romance between these two former foes who find common ground when life throws Legend an unexpected curveball that turns him into an instant family man. The sparkling chemistry between Legend and Pepper was off the charts and this duo sure generated enough heat to warm us even on the coldest of nights!
There is something about Sawyer Bennett’s hockey heroes that always make my heart skip a beat. They are just the WHOLE HUNKILICOUS PACKAGE! Ruggedly sexy with big, rock hard bods, swaggering sex appeal and dominant alpha personalities. But when these gruff and tough Arizona Vengeance men fall, they fall hard…and then their sweet and sensitive sides emerge that turn us into a pile of goo! And that’s exactly what happened with Legend Bay the moment that Pepper and baby Charlie became the center of his world!
I was REALLY charmed by this couple, although I admittedly would have liked a more gradual progression from enemies to lovers in this romance, and some fiery push-pull where we got to witness Pepper and Legend fighting their evolving feelings. Things developed a bit TOO easily for this duo in my opinion, and more palpable tension would have upped the stakes. But that aside, I really FELT their emotional connection and their sexual attraction was undeniable! The fun-loving, artsy heroine is unlike any other woman Legend has ever crossed paths with before which ultimately proves to be his undoing!
And while at first Legend’s cranky, uptight attitude rubbed Pepper the wrong way and she relished pushing his buttons, deep down she’s been harboring a secret crush on the arrogantly sexy goalie. So, when they call a truce for the baby’s sake and really get to know each other, they find they have more in common than they think…in the bedroom and out! Ultimately, I just loved how Legend is brought to his knees by baby Charlie and the sweet, bubbly, adorably kooky woman who is there to help him weather the newfound daddy storm!
And sighhhh those precious moments with baby Charlie were CUTENESS OVERLOAD! This baby is really pivotal to the plot because not only does she draw these two polar opposites together, but Pepper and his sweet little angel bring out the big old softie in this badass hockey star, rouse his every PRIMAL, PROTECTIVE instinct, and help him discover the TRUE MEANING of love and sacrifice! . And in turn, when Pepper reveals a painful personal secret, it truly makes this couple’s devotion to each other—and baby Charlie—resonate even more! As it turns out, this threesome make the perfect family.
As for the sexcapades, believe me these two amorous lovers sure RISE TO THE CHALLENGE if you catch my drift! Their wickedly steamy erotic interludes were passionate—and plentiful—and LIT MY KINDLE ON FIRE!!
Just like the first two installments, the interaction with the Arizona Vengeance teammates and the action on the hockey field were a huge highlight. I love how these players have each other backs through thick and thin! And ultimately, there was not a dull moment from start to finish. The fast-paced plot unfolds at a nice brisk place with lots of excitement and drama and passion throughout, finally culminating in a jaw-dropping climax that had me GASPING and a heartwarming HEA that left me all aglow!
BOTTOM LINE:
LEGEND sure hit my sweet spot and I can’t wait for Dax and Tacker’s books.. which are guaranteed to SCORE big time!
Legend and Pepper were a match made in heaven. They were so different that they were perfect. Legend was all about order unlike his neighbor that broke every HOA rule but still made him smile. They were attracted to each other but never made a move.
Legend had an event that changed his life overnight and Pepper was by his side every step of the way. This pushed them together and there was no turning back. These two were off the charts explosive together. Their relationship was beautiful and funny. Legend loved her how she was and vice versa. There was an incident that was scary and Legend’s reaction was . He was not about to lose Pepper.
The ending was typical Legend and Pepper and it was simply beautiful.
He’s a Legend
Legend is the next story in the amazing Arizona Vengeance series and boy oh boy it is spectacular! Legend comes home one night to find something left on his porch. To his dismay it turns out to be a baby. Pepper his annoying next door neighbour comes to the rescue when he goes to her for help. This causes a sequence of events to unfold that neither could have expected or predicted.
Fantastic story and I read just a short preview of Dax at the end and let’s just say I wish his story was here already A not to be missed series as it is like a wine, matures and gets better with each story
First, I want to address the fact that Penguin Random House is closing its digital imprint, Loveswept. Loveswept has published many of this author’s work, including the books in this series so far. This story was the last in this series to go through Loveswept. Luckily, Sawyer Bennett will be able to self-publish the books that were already slated to release through Loveswept in this series. I’m very happy about that as I’m a HUGE fan of this author and this series.
I finished reading another book on Monday evening. When looking at my calendar of books (yes, I keep a calendar to keep things straight) to decide what I would read next, I realized it was the day before publication for Legend. What to do, what to do??? I wanted to be able to dive right into this one first thing in the morning but didn’t want to be hooked into another book. Luckily, I remembered I have an anthology book I’m slowly making my way through so I could read a few short stories instead. Good thing, since this story begged to be read right away.
Pepper is so much fun, I loved her personality and the obvious chemistry with Legend in Erik’s book. Of course, at that time they loved to hate each other. But there was definitely something there under the surface that the author let the reader get a peek of here and there. The depth of Pepper’s compassion and love, while not quite a surprise, was an added bonus of getting to know her better in this book.
What was a surprise is the depth of maturity and responsibility Legend has that we didn’t see before. Once he gets past the confusion of finding a baby on his porch, he steps up in a big way. He never looks at his baby, Charlie, as temporary. He’s all in and is even quite great at being a single dad. Of course, he has a lot of help from Pepper and a nanny. But when he’s not working he not only does it all, but also WANTS to do it all.
There are a few twists and turns that can end up being a surprise for some readers so I won’t/can’t say too much about the plot. But not only did certain things about Legend’s story keep me turning pages, Dax and Tacker did too. Oh, Tacker. The man breaks my heart. Sawyer Bennett is doing a wonderful job of weaving all of these stories together.
I’m going to be honest and say I was going to knock a half a star off my rating because of some of the editing. There were quite a few areas where there were words left out of sentences or mixed around. (Knowing what I do about Loveswept closing its doors, it annoyed me to think they are not giving 100% with the books they have left on their docket.) I decided I loved this story too much to hold that against the author, so I’m giving it a full 5 stars.

LEGEND is the 3rd book in the Arizona Vengeance series and while it can standalone, there are recurring characters.
Pepper Nantais is a “free bird,” an artist/children’s author who knows exactly who she is and what she wants. Legend Bay is the star goalie for the Vengeance hockey team. He lives next door to the eccentric Pepper and she really gets on his nerves! They’re totally opposite but when an unexpected twist puts Legend in a bind, Pepper steps in to lend a hand and as the two begin to learn about each other, they find that there’s more in common than what they first thought.
Excuse me while I fan-girl a moment because Sawyer Bennett absolutely scored with this one! {<= cheesy pun intended!} I always feel like I get so much more out of a Sawyer Bennett book than just a straightforward romance. I mean, the blurb sounds like a simple opposites attract love affair and the cover, while handsome, isn't particularly intricate. But no, when you open this book, expect to find unique characters that tug at your heartstrings, a world where the people feel like they could be your friends regardless of status or class and a plot with bends and curves that takes you on a journey and leaves you with a grin. We'd briefly met Pepper and Legend in previous stories and I was so excited to see them get their HEA! Pepper was so awesomely strong, quirky and distinctive. She stood by Legend through all the drama he found himself in without being intimidated or questioning her self worth. And without going into too much detail about Legend's crises, his character was definitely tested time and again. He had a lot of crap flung at him but with Pepper's help, he was able to overcome every obstacle. I loved that Legend didn't let his ego get in the way of reaching out to Pepper when he needed her. He wasn't a wimp by any means but he knew his limits. You don't need to understand hockey to love this book, you just need to enjoy the ride! Told from dual POVs with a happy ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Sawyer Bennett packed a punch with this book! The emotions and the suspense and mixed those two together…fantastic! I loved the dynamic between the two characters. Right from the start they had this chemistry between them that just made you root for them from the start. The twists and turns thrown into this story kept me on the edge of my seat! Not only with what happened between the main characters but the secondary characters were weaved into the story that got me excited to maybe see a book from them. Overall, the writing was amazing and the story was fantastic. It had a good flow and pace. Sport romance lovers will love Legend, I know I did!
