She’s a new Christian working to take down a murderer. He’s a grieving man who refuses to let another woman die needlessly. When their desires clash, will it lead to hostility… or fireworks?Angelica Rossi deserves to be behind bars, but if secretly working with the police to take down an art thief will keep her out of prison, she’s willing to take the deal—even when she discovers the thief is … deal—even when she discovers the thief is also a brute and a murderer. As a former con artist, she’s learned to take care of herself.
Grieving his sister’s fatal overdose, Donovan Gilcreast retreated to an eighteenth century lakeside Victorian owned by an old friend, where he works on his paintings in the mornings and restores the house the rest of the day. He blames himself for not protecting Katie, and he blames Angelica Rossi, Katie’s old friend, for introducing her to drugs years before. When Angel, the owner’s sister, moves into the house, Donovan tries to keep his distance, but her bruises pull at his protective nature. Who would hurt a tiny thing like her?
Angel has no idea why the brooding recluse hates her, but despite his glares and grunts, she finds his quiet presence comforting, especially amid the fear and confusion of working as a confidential informant.
Their friendship might have a chance to become something more. But if Donovan discovers what Angel’s up to, he’ll not only end their budding romance, but he’ll destroy her shot at freedom forever.

Angelica has made bad choices, feeling unloved and unwanted. Giving information to the police may keep her out of jail. The information they wanted was more then him just being an art thief, a murderer also.
Donovan brings peace to her, even though he blames her, for his sister death on drugs. They have a connection from his sister and Art. He paints never thinking they are good, as she also doesn’t feel she is good enough. Their past has molded them, with a Christian faith can they forgive and move on. A good story of two knowing they need to make big changes to have a life and love.

Robin Patchen’s second in The Legacy Series, Legacy Restored, is a story of two broken, hurting people, learning to live and trust again.
Adeptly woven into this storyline are tense moments, heart-pounding scenes and wistful places of romance.
I’m hooked on this series, and her writing, and can’t wait to read her next book.
If you love romantic suspense mixed with James Patterson-like taut storylines, you need to read this book, and all the rest she’s written.
Angel is in rehab. Many believe her to be a druggie, but she never did drugs. Oh, yes, she definitely has broken the law many times as an expert liar. She has deceived many people to gain things she wanted. She is living in a court appointed group home for women when she arrived one day to discover the owner attacking another tenant. Startled, the woman gets away, but he turns his wrath on Angel. She knows she cannot go back to the home to live, but neither does she wish to go to jail.
She turns to her brother who takes her to an older large home he has purchased. A friend, Donovan, is living there doing the remodel. The house and job are an escape for Donovan who’s sister, Katie has died from an overdose. The family blames Angel for introducing Katie to drugs. This is not true, for although Angel has done many things wrong-broken the law many times, she never did drugs or introduced them to Katie. It is obvious to Angel that Donovan loathes her.
Angel wishes to show everyone that she is not that old person from her past. She is now a Child of the Most High God.
A detective is out to get Angel. He wishes her back in jail, serving out her sentence. He offers her a deal. It is risky and dangerous. Can she pull it off? She must, for in exchange she is offered freedom and an expunged record. Part of the deal is that she tells no one about the plan.
Chemistry is forming between Angel and Donovan, but she cannot tell him her secret. He wants to trust and believe in her, but finds evidence that she’s planning something illegal. Has she been playing him-lying to him all along?
I liked that Christ is mentioned a lot in this story. So many Christian fiction books just have a tiny bit of Christianity in them.
An amazing story of second chances, reconciliation, forgiveness, restored legacy.
I enjoy reading books showing spiritual faith in our times
This was a great book! I love this entire series, but this was probably my favorite. The story line was great, the characters well developed. Robin threw me for a loop on this one. I thought I knew what was going to happen, then she turned the tables and didn’t follow the standard story line I was expecting. Well done Ms. Patchen!! Another great book from a great author.
This book kept me engrossed till the end. Well written. Loved the message of God’s protection.
I really like this book very well written.
It’s impossible to write a review that can explain this book correctly. We all know that Robin Patchen writes with God in her heart. This is no different. Angel is trying to work with the police to catch some criminals who want her help in robbing a museum. The thing is, the lead criminal has been brutal with Angela and she is afraid. Donovan thinks Angel got.his sister using drugs and then she overdosed. The thing is, he’s wrong. Angel has never used drugs.. This story is thrilling, complicated, and filled with the presence of God in only the way Ms. Patchen can tell. I would give it 10 stars if I could. This is a beautiful book about love and forgiveness. It’s a great read.
I can’t say enough about it! What a great read!!
Classic Robin Patchen! Plenty of unexpected things happen when an ex-con and an artist team up – accidentally – to bring down a murderer. Loved the characters in this one. He’s broody and temperamental, the quintessential artist. She’s independent and insecure, an interesting combination. Together, they’ll keep you turning the pages.
Mysteries are my favorite books. This one is great! Donovan has to learn the facts & Angel has to learn to accept forgiveness. How they work things out is exciting. I look forward to any future books in the series. I received an ARC. This is my honest, voluntary review.
This book was so good! I have to say that it is my favorite so far of Robin Patchens books. This book was not only suspenseful but it had a message about how God can help us overcome addiction. This was a Christian and clean read and I loved it.
This is an edge of your seat suspense story that kept me reading non stop! Angel and Donovan are two very complex carriers, who have issues that need to be worked out with God in some major ways! I was totally captivated by Angel and her story, and on the plus side we get to visit with Harper and Jack again!!
The romance was so beautiful, and the suspense had my heart racing…there were times I literally held my breath waiting for an outcome! Robin Patchen is a master in this genre!
A nail-biting story of redemption!
Angelica “Angel” Rossi is no angel but she is trying to turn her life around and has found a new purpose since she found God. She lives in a sober living house and has a job in a restaurant; a condition of her parole. She is a good worker, or at least she was until being fired after someone told her manager that she was a crook. On arriving back at the sober living house she interrupts an assault on her friend and is badly beaten.
Donovan Gilcreast has been in hiding since the death of his younger sister; immersed in grief and guilt. He is still an artist but the heart is missing from his paintings. They are technically perfect but emotionally flawed. When his landlord and friend, Jack Rossi, brings his sister Angel to the house to heal and hide from her attacker Donovan cannot hide his hatred for the woman who caused his sister’s death.
Now Angel is facing prison for violating her parole unless she accepts the deal offered by Detective Routhier and his partner but it involves going back to the life she is trying to escape. It means lies, deceit, and the activities that have alienated her from her family. Angel is learning to trust in God when she is afraid, or when she is unsure, but she still doubts her own worth.
This is a story of faith and forgiveness, reconciliation and hope. This is the first book I have read in this series but I want to read the others now. I thoroughly enjoyed this inspiring, feel-good book.
A fantastic read. Angel has a secret that she can’t tell anyone. Donovan is helping her brother fix up the place. Donovan has lost a very important person in his life. These two do the best they can to get on with there life but there is still hurdles to get through. This is definitely a real page turner that has you on the edge of your seat. I definitely recommend.

Angel has been a sinner of her life despite her name. Now, she has found God but in order to keep her freedom she has to commit a felony again. Donovan is been mourning his sister’s death and blaming himself for not helping her. Can these two hurting people find God and help each other to find love and happiness again? Can they trust each other? A great story about faith and forgiviness.
Angel is in a predicament because of the terrible choices she has made starting when she was a young teen. She is now a Christian but God only forgives our sins: He does not eliminate the consequences of those sins. She has worked diligently with her attorney and the court to turn her life around, and seems to be making good progress. But suddenly everything is coming unraveled and she finds herself being approached by a police officer who wants her to work as a confidential informant. I cannot say what I would have done if I were in her shoes. She had excelled as a con artist, but did that prepare her to recognize when someone was conning her? Or was everything legitimate? Was she really prepared to protect herself from the evil person she was supposed to work with to gather information for the police? As a reader, I was along for the ride of my life as she took a trip on a virtual roller coaster to save her own life and gain her freedom. I have to say that the action took some turns that were totally unexpected, so I had to pay attention. Although Donovan, a friend of Angel’s brother, was the intended hero of the story, a certain police officer could have easily stolen that role away. Angel was not the only one with issues in the story. Donovan and his family were in great need of healing as well. A key takeaway from the book is that we all need to face the truth and let God work in our lives to bring healing in His way and His time. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
I have read everything Robin Patchen has written and so far, this one is my favorite! As the past few series have, this one takes place in the fictional small town of Nutfield, NH. Angel Rossi has found herself in some hot water after getting fired from her job and goes to her brother Jack for help. Jack offers her refuge in a house that he’s having remodeled to sell. Reclusive Donovan Gilcreast lives there while he’s fixing it up, but it’s a large enough house that Jack feels comfortable letting them stay there together. Those who have enjoyed the Beauty in Flight series will recognize Jack and Harper. It was good to see them again and see how they were faring. While you don’t need to read that series to understand this one, you will understand Jack’s “I’ll tell you that story someday” comment if you’ve read that series before this one. Also, though this is book 2 in the Legacy Series, it can definitely stand alone as there is no real connection to book 1. Ginny (main character from book 1) does show up in the epilogue of this one, but you don’t miss anything by not knowing who she is. This book tells Angel and Donovan’s story.
There were so many things I loved about this book. I loved the characters. They were gritty and flawed, yet humble and seeking. I loved their growth – emotionally, relationally and spiritually. I thoroughly enjoyed the story line. Not as intense as some of the author’s others, but still very action-packed and thrilling. I loved the faith thread in this one. It was very present, and I loved how the characters heard from God as they sought His Will. I even loved the romance in this one and I’m generally not a fan of the romance aspect of romantic suspense novels. Overall, I really loved this book. There wasn’t anything about it that I didn’t like. I hope we see more of Angel and Donovan in future books in this series or in other series as this author is wont to do. I highly recommend this one to those who enjoy faith-based romantic suspense. I would also recommend this one to any person who struggles to find their worth in Christ after they’ve sinned greatly as this is a steady theme in this book.
Special thanks to the author for an advance e-copy of this book. I was under no obligation to write a positive review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.
-‘“It doesn’t matter what you’ve done. You are worth fighting for.”’-
Angel feels valueless and unworthy of love or even second chances. She has lived a life of crime. Lately, she’s been living in a sober house and must keep a job to stay out of prison. But, when people know your past, they make judgments about you and often treat you unfairly. Prejudice, distrust, hatred follow her, and it’s hard to keep a job under those circumstances. Despite doing the right thing, giving someone back their wallet, intact, she gets fired from her job.
A vengeful cop set her up and is eager to throw her in prison, regardless of whether or not she’s guilty. It seems everyone is in the take and, when you’ve got a past, no matter how hard you try to get clean, sometimes you just can’t get away.
Set-ups, danger, and crime lurk behind every shadow. Will Angel ever find the redemption she’s longing for?
-‘But oh, she’d done plenty to deserve it. Maybe not today. Maybe this was punishment for all the things she’d done before she’d met her Savior. Maybe grace only kicked in after karma.’-
Another winner! Love this author’s work. Clean, Christian romantic suspense. Fast-paced, intriguing, and keeps my attention rapped. Absolutely recommend this book. 5 stars!
I really enjoyed this book. Its a real page turner. I will be reading more of her books
