Written like your favorite drama television show, the Palm South University series has been called “a mix of Greek meets Gossip Girl with a dash of Friends.” Follow seven college students as they maneuver unrequited love, teacher/student romance, the tangles of “no strings” relationships, love triangles and more. Each “season” has six “episodes,” and just like when your favorite show hits … Netflix, you can read just one episode at a time or binge the entire thing. With the perfect mix of angst, emotional romance, and romantic comedy, the Palm South University series is your next guilty addiction.
Drama. Lies. Sex.
Welcome to Palm South University.
The weather isn’t the only thing heating up in South Florida. At a school where fraternities and sororities don’t exactly play by the rules, relationships are bound to be tested. Parties and sex are definitely key ingredients in the Palm South recipe, but what happens when family issues, secret lives, and unrequited love get tossed in the mix?
Follow Cassie, Bear, Jess, Skyler, Erin, Ashlei, and Adam as they tackle college at a small, private beach town university. Written in television drama form, each episode of this serial will pull you deeper and deeper into the world of PSU.
Where the sun is hot and the clothes are scarce, anything can happen.

This installment was like a roller coaster of drama and heartbreak! This was my favorite, full of angst and unrequited love. Plot lines from previous books are closed and sorted, new ones come up and some are ongoing, like Bear and Erin’s issues.
Erin continues using Skyler in her machinations and Skyler lets her. Skyler loves her sorority sisters and will do anything to help them, especially Erin who is her Big. Erin knows she’s wrong but continues. It’s fascinating, like watching something imploding and not being able to stop it. I hurt for Skyler who fell for Kip Donovan and is up for a lot of heartache.
Bear and Erin continue in their strange dance of looking but evading each other. Ashlei is threatened in her job by a coworker who wants her place and wants to out her relation with Brandon. Cassie and Adam are resolving their issues, trying to be together without the shadows of previous partners. And after Jess is dumped by Jarred, she mourns for a while, then finds a boy toy to forget her troubles with.
And, stronger than ever, that feeling of fraternity (or sisterhood) is ever present:
“There’s something special about the bond between sisters, and I know what she means by wanting to keep our Greek traditions alive. I know how much that want can grow deep within a heart, how deep the roots can be.”
3 stars.
As always, these characters never fail in serving up a very entertaining read.
This was quite a bit longer than the other books in the series.
While I always admired how the previous books have always been well-balanced in terms of storylines between the characters; this one was not. It was very heavy with Skylar and Kip. Which I am positive, I couldn’t have minded one bit had I read “Black Number Four” (another full-length novel by the author decided to the couple. But I have not read that book, and have not fallen for their story like most reader probably already have. If that makes sense.
So while I liked this book a lot, it was not my favorite for that reason. I wanted to know more about the other characters I love. It definitely felt like “The Skylar and Kip show” with guest-star rolls for the remaining cast.
I keep coming back for me of this series, so the author must be doing something right. She just writes the most compelling stories.
I would have gave this book a higher star rating but I didn’t know that it would have been a good idea to read Black Number 4 before. So like an idiot, I read some of this and then after each episode, jumped into Black Number 4 to read the same words. The really only thing that was nice was getting the back story of what happened in Black. This book gives insight to the madness of Erin.. It’s obvious that she’s got things wrong with her and desperately needs help. She is a raging bitch in this book and makes Skylar do things that she wasn’t comfortable with at all. Comes up with a plan we all knew was gonna fail or at least I was hoping it would, Kip and Skylar are so cute together. It gets better though, Kip has a plan of his own as well. He’s wanting certain things in life and with Daddy’s help he can get there. All he has to do is follow dad’s plan. He didn’t expect to fall for Sky and help make her a better poker player. Over the course of time, he gets to know her better and finds out its harder to stay on track then he thought. Due to Erin’s plan, their relationship takes many takes some beatings. I will say the one saving grace was the strength that Ashlei shows in this. She’s completed her internship and now it’s her time to shine.. little does she know that Brandon wants to continue this and her competition is out for blood but don’t worry Ashlei is smarter then she looks and doesn’t let the bad girl take her down. I would have loved to have more Bear in this story but the little we got was fantastic. It was nice to see him step out of his comfort zone, move on from Shawna and find him a new girl. Jess was her normal spit fire self but the one who surprised me was Cassie.. It was her time to shine and see if it would work with Adam. Adam took the mature route and wanted her to work on herself rather then just jumping into a relationship. I thought it was smart move but throughout the whole book, Cassie complained about how he didn’t want her and he won’t make the next move. He even got her a spa day for Valentine’s day and she complained about that. She was making me crazy! This book was mostly about Skylar and Kip, which I loved together! I’m also excited to see how the whole Jess and Kade situation works out over the summer!
4.5
This installment was just as amazing as the others. especially I loved getting to see Ashlei thriving in her element and I found myself really enjoying her chapters so much here.
I think my biggest issue with this particular installment was the drama between Skyler, Kip and Erin (and Adam and Cassie). I just felt like it was all very unnecessary and became particularly hard to read because I was frustrated. Additionally, I tried my best to read Black Number 4 along with Legacy and it just didn’t work for me. I loved Kip and Skyler, don’t get me wrong, I just don’t particularly enjoy reading the same thing from different POVs. *I’d like to note that not ALL of it was the same scenes, it just felt repetitive to me once I got to those parts and it was difficult to read*
Despite these things, I still loved this installment. I loved to see everyone else’s chapters and see new relationships and drama and all that. I have such a soft spot for Erin and even though I don’t agree with the things she did in this installment, I understand them. So much. She just wants to be happy and I SINCERELY hope she finds it in Ritual. Please. I’m begging. And I’d also like to say that even with all their drama, I did really love Skyler and Kip. Or Kip from Kansas as I call him
Last thing: I’m curious about Kade and I am SO READY FOR RITUAL!
I think I might have OD’d on PSU. I almost DNF’d this to come back to it later. But I stayed the course and I’m so damn glad I did. It wasn’t anything wrong with the book, I had just read the last 2 so quickly and I think I burned myself out. Which is why I’m going to take a little break before I read Black Number 4.
What an addictive series! Full of games, betrayal and love. This installment is definitely a roller coaster ride of emotions. I can’t wait to read Ritual!
I just finished the final (or what I thought was the final) of the PSU series and it’s phenomenal! I read Legacy in conjunction with Black Number Four as was suggested and it made so much sense. It was great to see the other persons perspective given most of the time we don’t know just imagine how others feel. This series left me wanting more, how’s Erin? Do Adam & Cassie make it? Does Jarrett come back? Does Ashlei get her happy ending with Brandon? Is Bear reunited with his little Brother? So, so many questions. I love when books leave you pondering the characters next chapters!! As I read the series I wondered how much of this was based on her own college experiences … can’t wait for the next book!!
Rating:
PSU the fourth season!!! YESSSSS!!! If you have not read any of the PSU books yet, please do so now!!
PSU is a guilty pleasure series that you MUST binge together!! I read Legacy and Black Number Four as the duo and OMG the reading experience was the best I’ve EVER had.
Let Me Give You the Deets on how to read the duo.
First off you want to start with the other 3 Seasons – then Legacy starts off as the fourth season of PSU, but it also lines up with Black Number Four. At the end of each PSU Episode in Legacy, Kandi gives you a tutorial on when to read certain parts of Black Number Four and I highly recommend reading them together to get the full experience of both these stories.
Legacy Breakdown:
This semester everyone is back from winter back which means Spring Semester is in full swing – we even have new pledges and a transfer.
There is definitely no lack of drama, sex and high stakes in this season.
Ashlei is back to herself and taking control of her situation and I’m so happy for her. She’s finally coming into her own.
Jess is moving forward from her breakup with Jarrett but is a little lost on how to move forward. I will say the moment between her and Kade was pretty hot. I wouldn’t hate if they hooked up.
Cassie is the emotional one of the group, and wears her emotions on her sleeve. Her and Adam go through so much together in this season but the events lead her to growth, taking charge and going after what and who she wants.
Bear, our poor cuddly Bear who everyone comes to when they need a shoulder to cry on. This season he is trying move on from his relationship & or past hook ups. His frat is trying to get themselves back up and off of probation. I like where his story is going with Becca but I think he’s not finished with Erin.
Adam – oh he makes me swoon and he’ll make you swoon too. He’s such a confused poor guy. Caught between his past relationship with Skyler and his on again off again thing with Cassie, he’s trying to be the good guy but looses sight of the big picture and acts before thinking – even though he has good intentions.
Skyler – is still struggling with finding her major – she’s too focused on Poker and the possibility of setting her and her family up for life if she wins. Preparing for the biggest tournament of her life/poker career Skyler finds herself caught in a game of catch & release win the new transfer Kip -curiosity of Erin’s behalf.
Erin – I get where Erin is coming from, I really do but to turn all her hurt on the ones she loves just isn’t right – regardless. I felt bad for her in those vulnerable moments but there were times where she was just being spiteful for the sake of it and I just wanted to shake her and then hug her to make her feel better.
Kip – Kip is hot! He’s got that great body, blue eyes and blonde hair topped with being smart and wears glasses. *Swoon* and did I mention he’s interested in writing – not novels but TV drama.
Kade- I like Kade. He’s like a little brother with game. I think he’d be some fun for Jess.
And then there’s Becca – she’s not one of the students but sure knows what she wants when it comes to Bear. I think they’d work well together but I’m just not seeing it. Bear hasn’t been too eager to text her and every time she’s around she kind of has to flaunt herself at him and I think he’s going to get hurt – again.
Overall – this season was another winner for me. While there were quite a few love connections finally coming to fruition, Kandi also dropped some bombs to keep us coming back and begging for Season five.
You guys I’m seriously addicted to this series. Check it out now!Kandi Steiner
I need my PSU!!!
I need to preface this review by saying I read “the Director’s Cut ” version of Legacy. I got the behind the scenes unedited, nothing left on the cutting room floor version because I took Kandi Steiner’s recommendation (in the book) and read Legacy and Black Number Four simultaneously. So for me the stakes were higher…
Legacy is just as intense as Pledge, just as unforgiving in its realness. It causes sadness, fear, and pain. There’s love, hope, and joy in tbese pages. There are friendships that are unbreakable and relationships not meant to be.
BUT we are finally getting our hearts mended, our hopes resurfacing in new directions, and we are finally embracing the future.
Palm South never looked better. If only my vengeful heart could get some not so above board closure on a few people we’ve left behind…
Oh well, I guess I’ll leave it up to fate but you better bet I am snatching up Ritual ASAP.
Legacy, PSU#4 and Black #4 really should be read together, they can be read separately, but to get the best reading experience I would suggest reading them together.
Skyler really shines through in this season and by reading both books together you get to know the newest student at PSU, Kip. Erin is obsessed with him and unfortunately she makes Skyler’s life a living hell. I really really dislike Erin in this season, but there always has to be a villain, right.
Jess’s life becomes a mess and reconciliation with Jarrett seems to be a long way gone.
Cassie and Adam once again will frustrate you, so still prepare for more angst. These two made me want to throw my kindle up against a wall…I’ve been rooting for these two since the beginning and seriously, they just can’t seem to get things right!! But this is why we read…all the angst!
Bear almost seems like a secondary character at times, but it could be that the others just stand out more in this book.
Lastly, Ashlei has a great turn around from where she started books ago. I wanted to scream “woman hear me roar” with her.
I’m really looking forward to the next chapter with PSU and how everything will play out in their ever changing lives.
Oh wow this series as got better and better I am completely invested in there lives and I really don’t want to leave…ever …yep..they are my friends now haha
Another fantastic addition of psu ,this series reminds me soooo much of “the hills” and I really can’t get enough of it ..yeah I know I keep saying it but oh these characters draw you in so much you feel everything they go through all the ” oh no she she didn’t just say that” and the ” I can’t believe he did that” but also the ” its about damn time moments” and believe me this book is full of allll those things…
Can’t wait for more ….I NEED my guilty pleasure fix!!!!!!
Legacy is definitely my favourite so far and it has the most angst out of all the seasons. It was captivating and held my attention the most. They all get a happy ending in some way and I’m glad with how Erin’s storyline ended. I thought her to be quite harsh in these episodes but her upbringing didn’t help!
I’m so glad there are going to be more episodes and I can’t wait for July until we a reunited with our PSU gang to see what drama unfolds! A fabulous series!
Season 4 was fantastic, I devoured them all but this one was the one I needed and didn’t know. Skyler and Kip are now our POV and we get to see our beloved characters, this book is a bit different but in a great way. I think the whole series is fantastic and want them on audiobook at least to experience it all over again. Maybe we get them on tv in the future.
Oh boy. With the first few seasons I raced through. This time I read it off and on with Black Number Four. While it was fun to get to see lots of scenes from the other side as well, it also dragged the pace down, because so many scenes had to be reread again and again.
Also one of the most interesting characters, Erin, looses herself entirely in this one. I know this is part of her path, but whew, it went far.
Wished I had seen more from some, and the story was overall a bit dominated with Skyler, Kip and Erin.
3.5 stars
What a book! This book had sooo many ups and downs I don‘t ebven knew my heart could take so much at one.
Cassie and Adam are finally together OMG I‘m soo happy!
The introduction of Kip also was flawless and he and Skylar are so great together. I need to read Black Number Four next.
How could it end the way it did with Bear finding out he could‘ve been a father and then nothing. That doesn‘t seem fair. I hope we get to see more about that in the next book.
Also Ashlei and Brandon – Swoon
Another great season!
This is Legacy, Book #4 in the Palm South University Series. It is the culmination of Episodes 1-6. Legacy opens with the Spring semester starting and the brothers and sister of Kappa Kappa Beta and Omega Chi are back together. The seven characters we’ve been following continue with more angst, relationship drama, heartbreak, betrayal, lies, and friendships/sisterhoods that are put to the test, but there are new characters introduced who add quite the spice to the story. The gang continues the usual heavy drinking, partying, and sex that occurs during the college years. The difference with this series is that devastating secrets are revealed and some may never be the same once these truths come out. There is one coupling that I didn’t see coming.
I was anxiously awaiting this book! It mainly concentrates on Kip, Skyler, & Erin, Adam & Cassie, and Ashlei & Brandon. We get to see the conclusion of what happens in their relationships and friendships. We are also intermittently taken to Black Number Four (I’d call it a supplementary book to PSU.) which gives us more insight into Kip and Skyler’s relationship. We get the other person’s POV versus what we read in Legacy. Kandi Steiner guides us as to which chapters to read in tandem with Legacy. I have to say that this is a first for me and very unusual. I didn’t love this aspect of having to switch back and forth and it made the chapters a little redundant, so I found myself skip-reading parts of it. I did love getting to see the other person’s perspective. Overall, I really liked Book #4. There are HEAs but also some cliffhanger situations. I can’t wait to read the next season to see what kind of juicy drama and steamy goodness Kandi comes up with next!

I can’t get enough of the characters! This series has been great!
Awhhhh, I didn’t think I could fall in love more but Kandi proved me wrong. Kip Jackson, you have my heart. Not that Clinton, Adam, and Jarret didn’t already have my heart. Legacy brought more drama, friendship struggles, and sexual conquests. Kandi has an unique way of making the reader love all of these characters despite their flaws. Like, why hasn’t this series been translated into a television series?! I would most definitely watch this. I’m completely invested with this cast of characters. I literally binged this whole series in like a week – I’m not sure how I’m going to wait for the next book. Now, I will say, I did read Black Number Four by Kandi Steiner at the same time as this book as it helps to compliment the book. It is not necessary to read at the same time but since I already had that book, I followed her instructions on when to switch between the two books. It definitely made the experience that much better.
The entire series has been a fantastic experience. I fell in love with all of these characters to the point where I cried when they cried. I was happy when they were happy. Kandi knows how to translate feeling onto paper. Not to mention that she is the queen of angst. Oh, how I love the angst!

*** 4.5 Stars ***
Legacy (Palm South University #4) by Kandi Steiner is a new adult romance serial told in the first person POV of seven characters. Written in the style of a TV college drama show, the book is broken up into six episodes with each episode containing scenes from various character viewpoints.
Legacy follows the same timeline as Black Number Four and at the beginning of each episode, the author lets readers know how to read the books together by listing which chapters from Black Number Four should be read before diving into the next episode. Since I had not read that book yet, I followed along and read them both together. This review is solely for Legacy as I’ll post a separate review for Black Number Four.
It’s a new semester at PSU as Skyler, Ashlei, Cassie, Adam, Jess, Erin, and Bear continue to deal with the ups and downs of college and Greek life. This season is full of drama, secrets, friendship, betrayal, heartbreak, and love. It’s my favorite season so far.
As a serial, some storylines resolved while others were left open to continue in the next book. I’m so addicted to this serial. I can’t wait to see what happens with these characters in season 5!
This series were my first ever books by Kandi Steiner and I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about her specially her angsty goodness (I’ll get to those soon), but I had no idea what I was in for with this series. I’ve binged the series for the past couple of days in order to read Legacy, but when I first started reading I found out about another book that is part of the series that I didn’t know existed, so I read both books at the same time just like Kandi suggested and oh man it was double the frustration.
I admit when I started the first book I was expecting something more but as I got to know all the characters and seeing them going through so much, making mistakes, growing as individuals… basically with each book I fell a little more for this crazy yet amazing family.
Legacy was, I believe, the best one yet! There was just so much going on, and it definitely was the one who messed with my emotions the most. I was so frustrated and scared and pissed. It was a whole jumble of emotions. Every single character has been through so much… watching some fall apart, change for better and worse, watch some of them strive and be boss a** bit****, it was like watching my kids grow up(*whispers* I don’t have any lol but you get what I’m saying). I was both proud and angry at their attitudes.
I would like to vent about all the things I felt about each character but ain’t nobody wanting spoilers. I’ll just say that it was a complete roller-coaster and everything definitely came full circle. So many new relationships, so many emotions. Friendships were tested. Old relationships fell apart, new ones were born and thrived. Anything you can think of, it happened in this book. It was crazy, crazy frustrating but crazy good. I was mess reading these books but I did not for one second want to put the book down, I just wanted to know what was gonna happen next. You’ll know when things are about to implode. But I honestly just wanted everyone to be honest and things to be out in the open. All the secrets and games needed to stop, and I’m glad that in the end everyone did what was right after all the things they put each other through.
I cannot wait to see what’s in store for the Kappa Kappa Beta girls and their boys. I am so beyond happy that my ultimate ship is sailing. Adam has been my favorite since the first book, even though he was dumb in book 1 and 2. But he has such a good heart and he was the best in this book, even when his actions were questionable. And Cassie she too is my favorite and I am so glad to see her grow and be confident after what she’s been through. It was glorious. They had their ups and downs no doubt but their ‘ending’ was PERFECT! I am so excited to see Erin work through all that she has been through. The girl was insane in this book but I want her to find happiness, she deserves it. And Jess, I miss Jarrett too but he was an a**hole so I hope my girl really gets back on her feet and gives another sexy man a chance.
If you love college romances then this is definitely one you do not want to skip.
Drama, Sex, Parties, Friendships for life… all that and more! These characters will have you on your toes wanting to know what they will do next.
Palm South University is a guilty pleasure you do not want to miss out on! You get a lot of different tropes and definitely all the emotions. This bunch will having you laughing and crying and feeling everything. Reading this series was like watching the greatest reality tv show of the typical American college life! I couldn’t get enough and I hope I get so much more! And if these books ever come to life on screen you better believe I want miss a second of it.
