If you’re a fan of epic fantasies, this is a unique read that you do NOT want to miss. Ms. Sundin weaves an incredibly intricate world full of imaginative plot and characters.
Firstly, I love these covers. These novels look beautiful, but it really is what is on the inside that really shines.
This is my first time reading a Live Action Role Play Book. I was unsure of what to expect, but I am always up for reading any novel as long as the characters are engaging and the plot is interesting. And this novel did not disappoint.
The premise of this experiment, the characters and the setting really pop. This is the type of novel that you just have to read to know the experience.
New Eden is interesting and I am so in love with the concept of preparing for space. I recently just watched The 100, and my mind was wandering around about these characters actually in Space.
I was absolutely drawn into the characters of this series. Leaf, Oaklee and Fillion *swoon*. This series is full of so much description you feel like you are a part of the story and I really loved that aspect.
I cannot wait to continue on with this series, and see what happens next. This series is a must read for anyone interested in something different and engaging.
Overall, really interesting story concept. The characters were consistent and the world was really interesting. I loved how the biodome was created with so much technology while keeping basically all tech out of the lives of those in the dome.
Fillion is a heavy smoker, which threw me off a little. (There are multiple paragraphs in a row describing lighting up to taking the first drag after work and how good it feels, etc) But as a dystopian, it’s part of the story, the world, and the pressures he’s under.
For me, there was more description than I needed, but many readers are going to find that it gives them a vivid picture in their mind.
Oaklee and Leaf’s generation is fully-immersed generation and the level of medieval non-tech exposure was interesting. The strict adherence to the gender roles fit the medieval life, but, without spoilers, I was surprised with how medieval they stayed. But we have such strong characters living in the dome that I’m really fascinated where their journey will go!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book I’ve read in this genre. And all the descriptive words. OMG, it was if I was there!! I have never read anything similar to this. You will LOVE it! I’m a fan for life now.
This is like a Scifi, Fantasy, Dystopian, with Hints of a fairy tale. The author says its Eco-Dystopian Faerie Tale. Its an amazing mash up whatever you call it! There’s 3 POVs which I absolutely loved. Its incredible the amount of research Jesikah had to do for this story. There is a ton of world building which I found interesting but some may find it a bit slow at times. But she’s just really setting up two intricate worlds for the rest of series. There’s some great extras in the back of the book! Translations for phrases and an awesome glossary.
This story is SO funny!
I loved Fillion right off the bat. I have a soft spot for his type
Lots of mystery! What’s going on? Who can be trusted? Why is this happening? What’s real?
Leaf refers to his sister as “Hurricane Willow” at times. I get this way when I’m tired and hungry.
Willow/Oaklee is a feisty little thing Lol
It’s fun to see how the New Eden citizens react to technology.
And I really love the brother and sister dynamics! (Having an older brother myself )
Overall great read. Definitely recommend it if the above sounds like your style!

The narrator did a great job. This was my first audiobook by him. I was really impressed when he spoke a few phases in French and Japanese! He differentiates each character well. He reads at a slower pace for me so I upped the speed a bit. But don’t let that deter you from the sample! He’s fantastic.
.
Some Quotes
“How can you sleep at night using a word like ‘trash’?” he threw out. “It’s like a four-letter word to you hippies. ”
.
“I’m losing my mind,” he muttered in the elevator while waiting for the door to open. “And now I’m talking to myself out loud like a homeless person.”
.
Oaklee focused on the heady and intoxicating scent of citrus to ease her escalating emotions. She would not crash. She would not be destroyed. She would grab at anything during this fall and save herself from hitting bottom. Experience had taught her that the floor was merciless, and an unnecessary event. And she was sure she would not survive another crash.
.
“Please don’t ever forget me, Willow,” he whispered. “I will never forget you. I hope one day that you’ll become fond of trash.”
Oh. My. Word.
This story was beautiful, haunting, captivating, and I couldn’t put it down. As soon as I finished book 1, I cracked open another book and decided I couldn’t read anything else until I’d finished this series. I snapped up books 2 and 3 and basically binge read the whole series (with the occasional break to recover, because dang, did this series slay me).
The only thing that bothered me was how the author left out big details pretty much every time something happened. While I enjoy mystery, it left big gaps in knowledge that kinda drove me nuts. Mostly in book 1, and still worth it.
I think Willow is my spirit animal (and kind of a reverse coin to Fillion, who is my new book boyfriend). 😛
And scary! Good heavens, if this is any indication of where our future is headed (and boy, does it seem possible), we have a lot to worry about (hence, part of the need for multiple breaks).
Fair warning, if you pick up this book, you run the risk of falling into the must-finish-it-now-black-hole. But do it. And then we’ll cry together about how powerful this message is.
My review is for the audiobook version.
This is a great book for those that love science fiction and for those that are willing to explore outside their normal wheelhouse. It’s a great reminder of what I love about this genre. The author gives our environment a staring role here. She takes our current world and puts bits and pieces into what just may be our future. I loved how she began each chapter. It had me thinking about the Star Trek series and that each chapter intro would be a great way to lead into the week’s episode. Syfy are you listening?
You will find that you get your money’s worth with this book. The author knows how to grab your attention right from the start. Part of what will grab your attention is that Mr. Patel is the perfect voice actor choice. He makes Ms. Sundin’s words sing. I could listen to him read to me for hours – oh wait, I did. I can’t wait to listen to the second part of the Biodome Chronicles. They make a great team.
I think I’ve found both a new author and new voice actor to follow. My mind had fun picturing the world as these two people got my mind’s eye engaged. They also had me think of my own mortality. Will I ever see if this world they’ve created for me in my lifetime? But for now, I need to explore more of the biodome world that’s in my iPod. For some the sad part may be that I wouldn’t read the actual book but why would I. There’s no way I would do it any better than Mr. Patel does.
I voluntarily reviewed an Audiobook copy of this book.
Can I just say, woooooooooooooooh. I don’t really know what to say or how to say it. This was a fantastical ride with adventure, action, intrigue, mystery with touches of sci-fi, fantasy, dystopia, and fairytale. I found much here to make this a fantastic adventure. I went on a ride with first Leaf and Willow, then latter adding Fillion. There are many others that you get to know, some you like other you just don’t care about and others you just right out hate. The world that takes shape around each and every chapter with rich and detailed changes that were intriguing. The writing had an element of something more. There were things I did not understand and other that I became comfortable with as the story went on.
I could not just sit down and listen to this in one setting. After a few hours, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed or underwhelmed it depended on where I as in the story. I applaud those that were able to do this in one setting it just did not work for me. There was much to take in with each session spent listening to this world it became more and the characters became richer in depth and concise.
Narrator Review of . . . Sunil did a good job. The richness of voice. The diction. The accents. The pitch. All of it came together to provide a listening enjoyment. I took the time to listen with more than just my ears. This was a full senses experience. I was captivated by the vivid imagery that was conjured with the many voices.
This was an interesting and great start to a new series! After an explosion on Earth, New Eden was created. Willow and Leaf are overcome with grief from their father’s passing. Leaf takes up their father’s responsibility while Willow is acting bratty and impulsive. This is a journey of finding freedom in a constrictive society, exploring independence, and self discovery for both of them. The world building of this book was outstanding and the descriptions were vivid. I loved how Jesikah put so many different genres and elements together to create a truly unique and quirky story!
Sunny did a great job with this narration! His accent was a perfect fit for this book, but I do wish that he used more distinguishable voices for each character. He really brought depth and life to each character and the story with the amount of emotion he used in his performance!
*I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
A great read. This is a unique take on this world inside a world. It grabs you right from the first page. And I found the concept of the world very unique. And a great read. The Author dies a great job with Wold Building and Character creation. Its definitely a great read.

Are you ready to discover what is real? Legacy plunges you into a world full of mystery and emotion, danger and romance! Amazing start to the Biodome Chronicles!
Different! Very different for anything I’ve ever read. It was a slow read for me. I really wanted to like this but it was really hard to get into and I found myself having to force myself to get through it. I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if it were a fast paced. I would’ve loved to see more growth in the characters as well. But overall it was unique and entertaining at times just a slow read.
Original and engrossing setting for a one of a kind story. The characters are intriguing as is the plot. Sundin’s prose is a joy to read, flowing and poetic.
**I received a copy of this book from Story Cartel.**
The book started out a little slow, and I didn’t think I was going to enjoy it. Fortunately, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Leaf and Willow keep talking about “the secret” their father shared with them just before he died, but it takes quite a while before the reader is let in on that secret. Once that happens, things from the beginning of the book make more sense.
The book is very well written, even as it goes back and forth between the Medieval speech of the New Eden group and the technologically heavy speech of those on the outside.
The characters are well defined, and their relationships are complicated at times, yet realistic always.
I loved this book so very much. It has all the elements that (I think) make the best kind of story – adventure, family/friendships, history, sci-fi, spirituality, and romance. The scenery is described beautifully and the story is clever and engaging. I fell in love with the characters and I think you will too. I can’t wait for my son to read it so we can have a discussion about it!
I went into this book with a pretty vague idea of what it was about-a sci-fi novel revolving around a medieval Biodome community. When I started reading I realized that the Biodome community was started by a group of LARPers who wanted to take their “game” much more seriously… and their children have been raised under the laws and regulations of this community. Naturally, the story really gets going when these worlds start to… intermingle. 😉
Legacy is told from multiple perspectives and one of the things I truly enjoyed was the fact that when you’re reading as Willow-or Leaf-the writing is more elegant, more metaphorical. When it switches to Fillion it’s much more relaxed, sarcastic, maybe even a bit more spontaneous. It gave a really great voice to these characters but also really showcased Jesikah’s ability to transport you to both worlds within her story-the tech/anime outside world and the frozen-in-the-past Biodome community.
I also loved the contrast in her characters. The sarcastic and sassy hacker that is Fillion is worlds away from the beautifully emotional and grounded Willow, and yet they’re both amazing characters.
The only thing I think might be a negative factor to the reader is the world building-but unfortunately most first-in-a-series novels have a lot of world building. As someone who really enjoys world building, it only further drew me into the story and I thought it was all meshed into the story well.
Definitely recommend, we need more wonderful female sci-fi authors in our libraries. <3
This was a great read! The beginning was a little slow and hard to follow at times, but once you become accustomed to the terminology and a few questions are answered clearing some things up I just couldn’t put it down! It holds a great message for younger generations as well, this book paints a very vivid image of what life might potentially be like with the overuse of technology. It’s a unique read that I would definitely recommend.
This was my first time reading a Live Action Role Play book. So I didn’t know what to expect. I ended up really enjoying it. I was quickly drawn into the book and wanted to know more about New Eden, Leaf, Oaklee and Fillion. I found the world inside our world to be very interesting and cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
