This first in this series (note I read the second before the first!)will keep you turning the pages. The action and connections between the people is amazing. You can really feel them as they play one against the other while trying to find the serial killer.
Adele Sharp lost her mother to a brutal serial killer and she has not been able to get those visions out of her head. She is bound and determined to get this one even if it means leaving the US and traveling to France and then Germany-all countries she had lived in at one time or another and spoke fluently in each language.
There are actually three surprise happy endings in this one after the non stop action!
I know….I only gave this one 3* but I did enjoy reading the book. Blake Pierce writes a LOT of books with at least 8 different main characters: all female, several FBI, multi talented in lots of weapons, abilities, in good shape, (i.e. runners, etc) and always ‘better equipped’ than the male counterpart in the book.
The main characters could be the same one in just different scenarios with different names. Most of the books are what I would call ‘episodic series’ in that the last book leaves something opened/unsolved to carry on to the next book. I don’t mind the cliffhangers but most of the series I read at least ties up the current storyline and then starts another ‘mystery’ in the next book.
This one has some editing issues too which really distract me :'( , along with phrases that were not necessary (i.e. moustache on his upper lip?? is there another place for a moustache? and also repeated phrases/statements/explanations when I didn’t think necessary. In my opinion!
All in all, I’m still reading Pierce, but I’ll never get caught up on one character it seems. This one, Adele Sharp, has 13 books
I have never read a book by Blake Pierce before but I do read like to read mysteries and thrillers. I’m having a hard time writing this review. I liked this book but then again at times it totally lost my interest and that is why it took me a month to finish. It’s a book that I feel you should give a try and make up your own mind. Giving 3 stars because it is worth looking into you are not wasting your time.

I did not think this was as good as his other books
Excellent FBI thriller with international intrigue.
Any of her books is great. Too many venues not her best. But still a great book.
It was a pretty good read.
Some of the writing was overdone. For instance the author notes something about a character’s mustache “over his upper lip.” Now where else would we find it?
This is a book with lots of twists, multiple locations, and good writing. Very good and well worth the read.
I will continuing reading this author. Good subject matter and interesting characters. Its a thrill to see if I can figure out who did it.
Probably one of the best mysteries I’ve read in a long time. Felt myself sitting on the edge of my seat….so, so good.
It obviously kept me entertained enough for me to read it to the end. The main character was likeable but I didn’t get attached to her. The person they give her as a partner overseas is dislikable but then you end up liking him, he grew on her and me, the reader! I liked the ending.
I didn’t care for this book.
Well done and intriguing. Could not put it down. Loved the value placed on knowing different languages and cultures.
WHY did Blake Pierce have to ruin such a good book with BAD LANGUAGE, especially abhorrent being taking God’s name in vain?? That is never necessary in order to sell a book + results in losing loyal readers.
This book is definitely a must read. If you like suspense with lots of twists and turns then this book is for you! I couldn’t put it down once I started it. It was exciting from the very first page! I highly recommend.
As always, Blake Pierce delivers a wonderful read
Excellent mystery thriller, this author is now becoming one of my favorite. Pleasure to read and great flow, comparable to sanford, childs, coben. Highly recommend
I thought the storyline was good and Adele a strong character whose persistence paid off as well as the other characters being well developed. I found it interesting that she felt without a country to call her own having lived in three different countries. That gave me pause to consider that. I enjoyed the book.
