“What I love about the writing in this novel is that it really evokes your emotions. I loved crying a little, smiling a little and even getting a little frustrated at the characters.” ~ Creativity and Crazy Blogspot“Every character is unique and realistic, creating an environment a reader can get lost in, from page one to the very end.” ~ Chick Lit CentralAs a nurse and single mom, Darla Battle … mom, Darla Battle hides her loneliness behind a smile. Love, love, love Cindy Dorminy’s books!! They are clever, hook you in from the first page and hold you till the end. Great story, great characters. Each of her books are completely different, but each one takes you in and gets you vested into the lives of the characters. I finished this book in one day. Keep writing Cindy!!
I loved this story and was not ready for it to be over. I started it hard abv epilogue for a year later but was so good I sent it to my daughter to read
This book captures the essence of turmoil in trying to share a great secret. Great writing. A book one experiences as they read. Well done!
This is an amazing second chance / secret baby romance.
I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I honestly can’t tell you how much I really love this book! It’s characters, Darla “Juliet” and Theo “Romeo”, are a pair who were split apart but a miscommunication, a selfish friend, and self-doubt after being brought together by something bigger than themselves. Ultimately, it was fate that took control again and pushed them together again. The problem was, by now, there is a huge secret that might just split them apart for good.
I got really emotionally connected to both Darla and Theo right from the beginning. There was laughter and tears on my part as they tried to reconnect without accidentally destroying each other emotionally in the process. This book kept me on the edge of my emotions and seat until the very end.
It was an okay read, the last few chapters were the most realistic.
Best book ever loved it could not put it down until I was finished reading ..Recommend it really a great read !!
This book brought so much fun into my life! It has it all. No chapter, character or word is wasted. You will devour this read. You will go through a box of tissues and have the happiest of grins on your face. I couldn’t drag myself away to even go to the kitchen for food. I didn’t care how uncomfortable I was, I just needed to read this book!
The story was well written, I am just not a fan of that much miscommunication. When the truth came out, it was well beyond time. The backlash from it was pretty traumatizing. It seems all a little too wrapped up neatly with a bow at the end. The ole “I know I said some horrendously horrible things, but I love you.” Which is then quickly followed by the obligatory, “It’s okay, I love you too.”
This is a great book! It as so many different emotions, you will laugh and cry. I hope to read more of Cindy’s books!
Funny, sad. Differnt story than usual.
This was an enjoyable read.
A must read. I truly enjoy the story and the characters were very believable.
This book showed a lot of promise. I am a sucker for single parents/secret babies, so the plot was right up my alley. I love characters that you don’t typically find in books, and Theo-with Type I diabetes- fit that. I enjoyed getting some information about this disease and how it affects them and others. There were few errors of convention, which helped the reading speed along. Despite this, I had some difficulties getting into this book. I felt like the characters were very immature and wishy-washy. Their lack of communication was unnerving; I mean it took more than half of the book before Darla finally told Theo about his daughter. And their feelings flipped constantly, as well. I didn’t feel like many things were adequately explained, either. For instance, the fire that separated them in the first place. That is never explained, but is only mentioned as having happened.
There is a lot of potential with this book, but it fell short for me.
Was a good read. A bit slow she should have told him towards beginning of the book. The ending was a bit disappointing since we never had good scenes with father and daughter
This was the first book I have read by this author. I enjoyed it very much. It was very well written and I felt very connected to the characters and experienced the emotion they were feeling. The story was mostly clean, with the exception of one sex scene near the end. The circumstances were a bit hilarious but the description wasn’t necessary to see they had a connection. There were wonderful secondary characters in this book, as well.
Darla Battle was a single mom working as a wellness nurse at a facility in Nashville. She had one night of passion and mutual connection seven years ago with the One. She never knew his real name and it was only a few weeks before graduation from college. They used the code names Romeo and Juliet. They were separated prematurely that night by a fire and weren’t able to find each other again. Just a short time later, she found out she was pregnant. When she finally found out who he was and tried to contact him to tell him of her pregnancy, he told her to “leave me alone”. If he didn’t want to know his wonderful daughter and have a life with her, she would just raise her daughter alone.
Seven years later, Dr. Theo Edwards showed up in Nashville to complete a fellowship. While getting his medical requirement out of the way, he ran into Darla. He finally found out her name. He had been thinking of her nearly every day for the past seven years. Even when he was in a long-term relationship, “Juliet” was still on his mind. She had been his perfect One.
Unfortunately, secrets are kept and can destroy lives and this story is no different. Can these secrets be told before it is too late or will anger and mistrust destroy what they could have together?
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
