#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A deeply moving, gripping, and intelligent page-turner about a daughter’s search for her mother, Leaving Time is Jodi Picoult at the height of her powers.Includes the novella Larger Than LifeThroughout her blockbuster career, Jodi Picoult has seamlessly blended nuanced characters, riveting plots, and rich prose, brilliantly creating stories that “not only provoke … prose, brilliantly creating stories that “not only provoke the mind but touch the flawed souls in all of us” (The Boston Globe). Now, in Leaving Time, she has delivered a book unlike anything she’s written before.
For more than a decade, Jenna Metcalf has never stopped thinking about her mother, Alice, who mysteriously disappeared in the wake of a tragic accident. Refusing to believe she was abandoned, Jenna searches for her mother regularly online and pores over the pages of Alice’s old journals. A scientist who studied grief among elephants, Alice wrote mostly of her research among the animals she loved, yet Jenna hopes the entries will provide a clue to her mother’s whereabouts.
Desperate to find the truth, Jenna enlists two unlikely allies in her quest: Serenity Jones, a psychic who rose to fame finding missing persons, only to later doubt her gifts, and Virgil Stanhope, the jaded private detective who’d originally investigated Alice’s case along with the strange, possibly linked death of one of her colleagues. As the three work together to uncover what happened to Alice, they realize that in asking hard questions, they’ll have to face even harder answers.
As Jenna’s memories dovetail with the events in her mother’s journals, the story races to a mesmerizing finish.

It was a good read sad but also educational and surprising. .
Picoult builds this story very well (of course) and it is full of surprises, wonderful characters, vivid scenes and emotions. She is masterful and this story is truly worth a close reading.
Leaving Time is interesting, with an interesting ending. I’ve read better Jodi Picault books.
Read a lot of her books. Most of them I really liked. This was one of them. She writes such great books. I do love everything about elephants, so this was right what I wanted. Would recommend it. Well written!
Such a great feel good story with a surprise ending. I loved the story of the elephants
All of Jodi Picoult’s are great reads
could not get into it – too much elephant detail 🙂
My favorite author, very unique story this time.
Amid the character’s ups and down and in and out of reality in a way, I learned loads about elephants. Which I happen to like very much. The conclusion was satisfying and the end, I guess you could say preface, was a good look back –or forward….
This was a very strange book with a twist, and I didn’t find it to be as riveting as Picoult’s usual books. I left it lying several times before I finished it, and that’s very unusual.
I enjoyed this book. Very unexpected results, it kept me engaged the whole time.
A very different kind of book. Was not sure I would like it. Really enjoyed it and was very educational.
Great!!!
Very original and different. Unexpected ending
My respect for elephants has gotten even bigger
I found this book tiresome and difficult to pay attention to. The story line is interesting but how the story is told is boring.
enjoyed the book interesting characters, surprising ending, page turner easy to read
Fantastic! Right until the very end, I did not see the twist coming.
Another gem from the author. Excellent read.
Jodi Picoult always does an amazing job of letting her characters come to life and it makes the reader feel as if you actually know them!
