#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A deeply moving, gripping, and intelligent page-turner about a daughter’s search for her mother, Leaving Time is Jodi Picoult at the height of her powers.Includes the novella Larger Than LifeThroughout her blockbuster career, Jodi Picoult has seamlessly blended nuanced characters, riveting plots, and rich prose, brilliantly creating stories that “not only provoke … prose, brilliantly creating stories that “not only provoke the mind but touch the flawed souls in all of us” (The Boston Globe). Now, in Leaving Time, she has delivered a book unlike anything she’s written before.
For more than a decade, Jenna Metcalf has never stopped thinking about her mother, Alice, who mysteriously disappeared in the wake of a tragic accident. Refusing to believe she was abandoned, Jenna searches for her mother regularly online and pores over the pages of Alice’s old journals. A scientist who studied grief among elephants, Alice wrote mostly of her research among the animals she loved, yet Jenna hopes the entries will provide a clue to her mother’s whereabouts.
Desperate to find the truth, Jenna enlists two unlikely allies in her quest: Serenity Jones, a psychic who rose to fame finding missing persons, only to later doubt her gifts, and Virgil Stanhope, the jaded private detective who’d originally investigated Alice’s case along with the strange, possibly linked death of one of her colleagues. As the three work together to uncover what happened to Alice, they realize that in asking hard questions, they’ll have to face even harder answers.
As Jenna’s memories dovetail with the events in her mother’s journals, the story races to a mesmerizing finish.

Fabulous. One of her best!
Wonderful
I loved this book! Educational…I learned a lot about elephants that I didn’t know…and the characters were very interesting. It held my attention and the ending was very surprising.
I couldn’t get through this book fast enough to see how it ended. I read this book several years ago. First time, had me guessing and reading whenever I could to get to the end. Second time, was still very enjoyable! Great book!
Incredibly well-written. Thought provoking.
as with all Jodi Piccoult books that Ihve read here is a twist at the end.
I enjoyed the book and learned about something that I knew nothing about.
This author constantly surprises me. I was constantly reevaluating what I thought the book was about. The plot kept changing directions and finally ended with a fabulous finish.
Loved this book. Read it several years ago, remember everything about this book. The ending blew meanwhile. Never saw it coming
I found the twisted ending a little too twisted.
I enjoyed the book, but was not one of my favorite Jodi Picoult books
Read for book club. Beautiful story, but sad.
A great read with a plot twist you won’t see coming. Keeps you reading for hours.
One of my favorite Jodi picoult
I didn’t finish it. It was boring or just too slow and not the kind of story She usually writes about.. first time this has ever happened out of all the books of her’s I have read.
Jodi Piccoult’s books always rate 5 stars.
I loved the interweaving of elephants into this story. A beautiful story with wonderful characters and a surprise ending.
Well written with interesting characters. I read this book several years ago and still remember it, unusual for me.
One word sums this book up: FANTASTIC!
One of my favorite books due to the factual information about elephants spread throughout the story. Shortly after I read this book, the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, NE opened a huge outdoor elephant habitat/ exhibit and acquired three new elephants. What awesome creatures! I will never look at elephants the same way again.
This title was a complete surprise to me, after reading a few other of Jodi Picoult’s books. I love how it’s told in alternating points of view, and flashes back and forth in time. And the twist at the end? Never saw that coming. Great book.
