Megan Winkle does what any woman in pain would do … she runs.
Robbed of her future, she “steals” her Granny’s spinning wheel, stuffs it in a U-Haul with her other things, and heads west. When her car breaks down in Choteau, Montana, she stays. The scenery is amazing and people are friendly. The long winters give her plenty of time to spin, knit, and plan her new business.
As spring inches into … spring inches into the northwest, her business is off to a good start and two men want to take her out. Dave Brockman is a confident, well-heeled businessman; Dylan Beck a part-time rancher and unsuccessful artist. She likes them both, but she’s not into dating. First, she needs to stand on her own two feet.
Everything is running smoothly until the sheriff shows up on her doorstep to charge her for stealing the spinning wheel. It goes downhill from there. Should she reach out for help, or pack up and run again?
A woman’s fiction novel, Leaving Home examines the courage it takes to follow a dream no matter what happens. The intimacy of small-town life, the soothing nature of the fiber arts, and vivid descriptions of life on the Rocky Mountain Front live within its pages. (There is also a knitting pattern!)

Gentle Hero and Inspiring Heroine
I love to read romance, and I have to admit that a good beta hero and a strong heroine is my favorite combination. I love it when couples bring out the best in each other, which happens more often in this combination. I also enjoy romances where one romantic partner or both has a large family of siblings with complex family dynamics. So, I’m happy to say that this book ticks all the boxes for me.
Our hero is a man at the crossroads, helping on the family ranch but desiring it to be an artist, a painter. He’s even gone so far as to exhibit his work, but galleries aren’t interested in continuing to show his work because they don’t sell. Our heroine is not in the place she wants to be, but she is working hard to make her dream a reality. I loved that her wheelhouse was fiber arts, as I am a knitter and crocheter myself. (Though I don’t spin!) It’s always fun to see your hobby reflected in books you read.
This book takes place in Montana, and the author did a fantastic job of making you feel like you were in this small town and its surrounding area. You could almost go so far as to say the location was almost another character in itself. The book is long, which gives it plenty of space for more intricate plot lines and character development beyond just the couple. I hadn’t read any other books in this series, and I imagined that my enjoyment would have been increased if I had, but it was certainly not diminished because I had not. If you like well-written contemporary romance with some family drama going on as well as the couple finding not each other but their place in the world, you may very well enjoy this complex and nuanced story.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
The third book in the Rocky Mountain Front series a well written story with a good storyline. Megan Winkle is running away, but her car breaks down in Choteau, Montana where she meets Dave Brockman a businessman, and part-time rancher and unsuccessful artist Dylan Beck. I enjoyed reading this story and want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the 2nd book I’ve read written by Casey Dawes; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

Wonderful story with Megan who left North Carolina when her grandmother passes away and her cousins take everything leaving her with only the spinning wheel that she was promised by her granny. She ends up in Montana working at a small coffee shop while working on her business of spinning wool and knitting when she meets Dylan who is a struggling artist who helps on his family ranch. She does not want a relationship until she can get her business up and running but Dylan does not want to take no for a answer. When her relatives want the spinning wheel back it is the small towns people that help her to see that sometimes it is ok to let someone help.
Granny’s advice about the right one was so true.
This was such a good tale about a young woman who leaves home trying to start over. I have never heard of hand spinning so off to YouTube so now I have to try doing it. I love it when a simple story like this brings new information about an interesting craft. I liked the characters in this piece and Choteau, MT. sound wonderful. Megan and Dylan are both artists both feel that they do not fit in where they are in life or with each other. There are very real emotions and reactions with these characters it makes for an endearing and charming read. There is an added bonus of a pattern for a hat and mittens. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This was a great quick & easy read.I really enjoyed this story. Megan is starting over in the Rockies after leaving North Carolina. All her life people have let her down so she is determined to make her own way and start a business. Her dream is “fiber to fabric” . She is determined to do it all on her own because in her past she has been let down by others. Can she learn to trust again? Does she get her dream?
I was given this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Megan finds herself starting over, leaving North Carolina, she lands in Montana where the beauty of the mountains draws her in. I love her grit and determination as she focuses on her goals of building of business about fiber to fabric. So many people have let her down in her life so doing this on her own drives her. She works at a local café where she meets Dylan Beck. Dylan is the middle child, great at referring his siblings but struggling to find his purpose in life. His passions is art – painting, drawing – but he hasn’t found any real success. Meeting Megan, he is captivated by her drive and passion for fabric. While he drawn to her, he also is hesitant since she isn’t a local, he is afraid she will leave due to the harsh winters. As he tries to be a friend to Megan, she struggles to accept help and let him in. Will she be too stubborn to realize love is possible for her? That she can trust someone? I love the slow burn for this couple as they both work to find and pursue their passions. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
