Audie Currell hates Christmas, which he’s always spent with his abusive family. But his boyfriend Calhoun drags him to the Culliver twins’ three-day Christmas blow-out at their beach house on Tybee, where “it looks like Macy’s holiday department has vomited its entire contents.” While the stockings are hung by the chimney with care, the hot tub bubbles, and the Goldschlager passes from hand to … hand, Calhoun has to teach Audie that Christmas isn’t all bad — in a big way.
Full of hilarious moments, tenderness, and the touch of angst you’d expect from Audie, the novella “Learning to Love Christmas” will leave you with the warm holiday glow (literally) that’s the real reason for the season.
Low Country Lovers’ “Learning to Love Christmas” tells the story of the same party featured in Southern Seduction’s “The Meaning of Christmas” and Southern Scandal’s “Christmas Cousins” from a different perspective. Each novella can be read separately in the context of its series, or all three fit together to create a full picture of everything that happens at one party.

This is one book in a set of three books revolving around a Christmas blow out that Wills and his twin Henry throw at their beach house in Tybee.
This is told from Audie and Calhoun’s perspective.
I love the relationship between Audie and Calhoun the way they can bounce back to each other despite any disagreements between them.
I don’t like to give spoilers for books I like to give readers the chance to discover the delights for themselves. What I will say is that I highly recommend this book to all those like me discovering these characters and to all those who already love them.
Wills and his twin Henry decide to throw a three-day Christmas party at their beach house and they invite all of their friends.
In this book we get the story from Audie and Calhoun’s perspective. Audie doesn’t have any good memories from Christmas because of his abusive family. It’s up to Calhoun and the rest of their friends to help him create new happy memories.
I think Audie is one of the most complex characters and I really love him. One minute I’m heartbroken for him and the next he makes me laugh. And Calhoun is just perfect for him. So patient and loving.
I loved every single word.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Loved these books so hard, just can’t decide which one of these character or couples are my favorites, because each one of them has such special qualities that make them unique. For Audie and Calhoun it’s still can be a mind field to maneuver around all the issues from their past Audies problems with family and Calhoun’s dislike of Audie’s besties. But with the company of good friends and total acceptance it is only a matter of time before they work it out, because through it all the love is always there. This was a enjoyable story from another point of view showing just how intertwined these peoples lives really are.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions stated are my own !
Ok so everyone is at this party on the beach Quinn, Ellis,Wills , Crispin al, Audie and his boyfriend Calhoun . With Audie hating Christmas and wanting drunk it away Calhoun drags him to the twins Christmas bash. Audie was Calhoun to like his friends but Calhoun isn’t so so sure. I loved that Audie is coming out of his shell a little and showing a different side of himself. I enjoyed seeing the jealous not so put together side of Calhoun also . While I know that Audie and Calhoun’s story isn’t finished this was a great stepping stone for them to have a lasting and loving relationship . Great read from McBryant!
I was given this book as an ARC, every opinion is my own.
Joining in on the Christmas party at Wills and Crispin, Audie and Calhoun is less on the same page on the topic. Audie dislikes it and wants to drink it away, Calhoun is addicted to cookies and gets his high mostly from that.
Audie is still broken but slowly getting better when learning the meaning of Christmas along with getting his boyfriend to not hate his friends, it’s all turning out pretty great.
I like Audie and Calhoun and though their story isn’t finished, I like to see an Audie that is coping with things better and it also made me curious to know what lead up to the start of this book.
Calhoun is more jealous and less together than I thought, and I like that side of him too, not only seeing how Audie have built him up for us in previous books.
It doesn’t matter what book you start with, each have a different side of the party, there will be parts that are repeated through both and some only from a different viewpoint.
It can feel a bit unnecessary but at the same time it ties together with them all being on the same place.
I love Audie and Calhoun. Audie wants to show Calhoun that Christmas isn’t bad. So he takes him to the twins beach house where there is a group of people there that is sure to cheer Calhoun up.
