My first Lane Hayes book – it won’t be my last. Couldn’t put this down. Brilliant writing. Lane Hayes
Fun, quick, sweet read
I really enjoyed this quick read. The characters are well defined so you feel like you know them. The author does a great job with conveying setting and emotions. I’d have loved a bit more depth, especially after the crisis point. The ending seemed a bit abrupt, especially after we get to the epilogue. It’s like crisis, epilogue without a whole lot of information in between.
This review is for both Leaning Into Love and Leaning Into Always as both books are about the same two MCs and I read them one right after the other.
I’m still a relative newcomer to Lane Hayes’ books; I read my first one in August 2018. I have a lot of catching up to do and that includes the Leaning Into series. I’ve only read the first two books in this series at this point but I can’t wait to read the others.
Both Leaning Into Love and Leaning Into Always are about Eric and Zane who have been best friends for several years. This book sets up their relationship and leaves them in a good place. The bonus chapter, Wedding Prep lets us know that things aren’t always smooth as they get things ready for their big day but there’s never any doubt that they are OK.
I was really happy to read more about Eric and Zane in Leaning Into Always. A little wrench gets thrown in their path when Zane’s old f*ck buddy enters the scene. Eric has some major jealousy issues going on but it’s a romance and they definitely get their HEA.
Sweet short to start this series. I cannot wait to continue their story as well as start the others. For a short story it had a lot to it. Not only with the MCs, but the side characters played a big role as well.
While this is a short read/listen, compared to her previous series that I’ve listened to, it holds all the same elements I’ve come to expect from Lane Hayes. It has friendship, romance, human actions and emotions, and personal growth. The characters are likable, and are the kind you’d have in real life. Despite it’s length, the story wasn’t rushed, and it didn’t negatively affect any character development. I highly recommend this book, whether you read or listen to it. Seth Clayton was introduced to me, through Lane Hayes’ books, and he does a fantastic job bring her characters to life.
For me there is nothing better than a friends-to-lovers romance and this one is so sweet! I loved Zane, he is so swoony and you can really feel how much he cares about Eric! Eric is a sweetie with a huge heart, which sometimes works against him.
This was a quick read but the characters were really well developed. I loved the bonus chapters, getting to see a little of what the future has in store for them.
I admit, I’m really intrigued to see if Ms. Hayes will be able to turn some of my feelings for Nick around, in Leaning Into the Fall.
