Second chance romance with all the right feels. It’s intense, heart-breaking and sexy. I was so happy to finally get Ollie and Nikki together and fill in some of the holes. AL Jackson always tells a story with such intensity, you feel it long after the story has ended. Ollie’s massive presence will forever be in my heart.
Ollie was by far the most interesting character of this series. He is a big steely, broody, tattooed, and bearded, muscled pile of pain and regret. The man has a force field masking his emotions and expressions. So finally reading his book was like getting a golden ticket. But I was in way, shape, or form prepared for the unimaginable pain I’d find behind Ollie’s piercing eyes. It is like a gaping wound that Ollie carries around with him along with the ghost of his sister he can’t let go of. It keeps him from living and being the only woman he’s ever wanted. His need for her is soul crushing and so damn beautiful it will bring you to tears. It is clear Ollie and Nikki have loved each other for as long as they’ve known each other, even before they knew what the word truly meant. And Sydney. She was the piece that made them one. That brought them together with her bright light and fearless personality reaching out to both of them to fly with her on the adventure she called life. But the person that made them whole is also what keeps them apart. Ollie can’t stop blaming himself for her disappearance and for giving in to what he wanted for once at the cost of the one he was meant to always protect. Nikki can’t help loving the broken soul that is Ollie. He is her reason for breathing and no matter the heartache she knows he will inflict on her she opens her arms out to him in the dark.
Lead Me Home is an emotional punch to the heart. I felt that hollow sense of loss that steals Ollie’ breath and makes him feel like he is dying with each day that passes. Ollie’s guilt had me choked up and shedding sorrowful tears for him. I was so afraid of the ending that I put the book down for days knowing that A.L. Jackson was going to completely ruin me. And she did. Because I knew what was coming and I swore I couldn’t take the pain I knew Ollie and Nikki would feel when the smoke cleared. But it was also so beautiful to read. Seeing how close Ollie, Nikki, and Sydney were as kids was the sunshine through the painful haze. Their bond was unbreakable. I loved getting to know Sydney as a kid and what she meant to Rex, Ollie, Kale, and Nikki. The undying love Nikki held for Ollie hit my heart hard. I’ve seen Ollie happier than when he was with Nikki.
I can’t say anymore about this book other than it was one of the most emotional books I have ever read. The only other book by this author to make me this emotional was Stay, but Lead Me Home is giving her #1 book in my eyes a run for its money. A.L. Jackson’s writing is always phenomenal in how poetic it is and how she knows how to completely ruin her readers in the best way. I highly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed. This woman always delivers.
5 Dragonfly Filled Stars!!!
Al Jackson totally saved the best for last in this incredible series. I knew from the beginning with Rex’s story that I was going to be gutted when it came to Ollie’s story. But, I was wrong. Gutted wasn’t the case for what I was reading what Ollie and Nikki went thru.
Nikki, Sydney and Ollie met when the girls started kindergarten and were best friends from the very first moment. Nikki and Sydney were best friends, sisters. Ollie was Sydney’s older brother and protector. He quickly became Nikki’s protector.
These three grew up thick as thieves. They did everything together. Sydney was the light in everyone’s whose lives she was in. Nikki was the shy one. Ollie the overbearing one. It was Sydney urging them, telling them everything would be OK. It was always the three of them against the world.
When Nikki’s 16 and Ollie 17 they’re feelings change for each other neither one is sure how to handle them. When they finally give into their feelings they decide to not tell their friends Rex, Kale and Sydney. They’re afraid of hurting Sydney’s feelings. But, before they get a chance to tell her Sydney goes missing and her or her body was ever found again. Fourteen years later and neither Ollie or Nikki have recovered from it.
Oliver has never gotten over the loss of his sister. He should’ve protected her. But it was because of him that she’s missing. He couldn’t protect her, but he’ll do everything to protect Nikki. He’s been in love with her his entire life and has never loved anybody but her. But, in his eyes he’s no good for her but nobody else is good enough for her. Ollie wants to stay away from Nikki but he can’t. When someone comes after her Ollie sees red and will do everything to keep Nikki safe. Even if it kills him in the process.
The night Sydney went missing Nikki lost the 2 most important people in her life. Sydney was missing and Ollie pushed her away but he was still close enough to see everything. The only man Nikki’s ever wanted was Ollie but he’s closed himself off since the night Sydney went missing. He pushed her away when she was 16. Then, he crushed her again a year ago. As much as she loves Ollie and wants to spend forever with him, Nikki can’t let him continue to use her to make himself feel better then push her away. But, when Ollie shows up at the wrong time she’s forced to move in with him.
Both Nikki and Ollie aren’t sure how they’re supposed to live in his apartment together. How’re they suppose to be so close together while trying to stay far away from each other. Plus, the anniversary of Sydney disappearance is right around the corner. Both aren’t sure if they’ll survive the other one.
Holy hell!! This book was so emotional it’s unreal. The way Al Jackson wrote this story. Unbelievable!!! She wrote Ollie and Nikki’s life together from their first initial meeting, to first kiss and she wrote the important parts of their lives at the perfect times in the book. She did this with Baz and Austin Stone’s storyline in the Bleeding Stars series and she hit another grand slam.
There was nothing I disliked about this book or series. I love the guys Rex, Kale and Ollie and the girls Rynna, Hope, Lilith and Nikki. Even Broderick had me lol again in this book. But, we see more of the guys and Nikki’s friendship from teenage years to now. All their lives were changed that night and finally getting answers. Al Jackson continues proving over and over again why she’s one of my favorite authors!!! I’m looking forward to her next book.
This was the book I have been waiting for – I needed Ollie and Nikki’s story but what I didn’t expect was how emotional and heart wrenching their story would be. The final book in the Fight For Me series is one that will require a box of tissues and maybe a check up to the doctor to ensure that the tight feeling you have across your chest during the course of this book, is just from the emotional pull you will have to these characters. My heart literally ached for this couple as we delve further into the background that surrounds Ollie’s sister Sydney. As secrets are slowly starting to unfold it will feel like their whole world is falling apart yet again. Nikki is a character that is full of light and happiness but when the evil has been lurking in the darkness this whole time it might take every bit of Ollie’s protectiveness to save the one person who has always been his home. Lead Me Home would have to be one of the most powerful books I have read, many tears were shed but their story left my heart feeling so full of light and sunshine. It will take you on one emotional ride that is full of heart-breaking, heart-warming, soul-stirring, dramatic and uplifting moments. Be warned Ollie is a bear of a man and when this man gets his sexy on he brings the heat and steam like no other character can.
I feel like I’m waiting for the story of Ollie and Nikki from the moment they were introduced there in the first book. But now that I’ve finished this amazing story I can say that worth the wait.
For those who follow the series Fight for me the A.L. Jackson knew that Nikki had a crush on Ollie. Or so I thought. But let me tell you the connection and history of these two is much bigger, more beautiful it’s hard to just a crush. It was love from the first few pages was undeniable the love you both shared and even in times when I wanted to slap in the face of Ollie and send him wake up to life, I never doubted that he loved her with all your heart.
Lead me Home is the last book in the series Fight for me and gives readers series, but with an incredible story. Is one of the types of history I love most: a story of second chances at love: emotional, intense but also full of humor, friendship and companionship. An amazing addition to this series that stole my heart from the beginning.
Oh Ollie, what a tortured soul he is. This series follows a group of friends who’s lives are intertwined thru friendship and tragedies.
Nikki has been in love with Ollie for as long as she can remember. There were the three of them since childhood, Ollie, Nikki and Sydney Ollie’s sister. The three of them made a blood pact when they were children to always be together. As they grew older things changed and out of fear secrets were kept. Then Sydney goes missing and both of their lives can never be the same. Ollie feels responsible and can’t move forward, Nikki just wants to be there for him, but can’t risk the hurt.
In the mix are their group of friends, Nikki’s sister and secrets that just might ruin the both of them.
This story is heartbreaking as much as it swoon worthy, but that is the mark that Amy leaves on all of her books and why I love them so much. I highly recommend this series and the story of Ollie and Nikki.
“fly, fly dragonfly”

The third book in the Fight for Me Series, and this is Ollie’s story – oh boy I’ve been waiting for this one, I couldn’t wait to see just what happened to Ollie with his sister!!!
Oh my goodness, such an emotional read!!! Ollie and Nikki and all the years of heartbreak and gut wrenching sorrow, each in their own hell, unable to move on, unable to get passed what happened with Ollie’s sister Sydney!! I don’t think I was fully prepared for the range of emotions this book brought out of me, it really knocked my feet from under me and left me gasping to breathe at times!!
Ollie is broken from grief and guilt, his soul and heart shattered when his sister disappeared, years of non stop searching and looking for any clues to find her. Nikki was Ollie and Sydney’s best friend, they have grown up as a ‘three’, Ollie always there looking out for them, protecting them, until he didn’t, until she disappeared. Nikki is just as broken as Ollie, unable to get passed her grief. But there has always been this ‘thread’ connecting Ollie and Nikki, something more, a connection they were just exploring when Sydney disappeared. Now all these years later, Ollie is in a dark place, unable to see the light, consumed by grief and guilt. His only light is Nikki, who is always there for him, but he is unable to give her what she wants, and she can’t take being used by him any more. When a situation develops and she has to leave her home, he takes her in without a thought, but being in the same room as her has all his and her walls crumbling around them, unable to resist their connection.
A fantastic story, emotionally charged, gripping, with angst and suspense, filled with characters that you just can’t stop yourself falling in love with, a fabulous second chance read! I couldn’t get enough of this, couldn’t put it down – this has been a fantastic series, I’ve loved each book, but this one was the best of the lot. Ollie and his brokenness really got to me and will stay with me for quite a while. A massive 5 star recommended read.
3.5 stars
“He’d always been dangerous. Dangerous to my sanity. Dangerous to my heart. Obviously, none of that mattered. I was drawn to him anyway.”
Lead Me Home is the third book in the Fight For Me series and it can be read as a standalone. It was my first book by A. L. Jackson and I’m glad I got to know a new to me and great romance author.
“That aura she wore was like an additional layer of her skin. Glittering diamonds and glimmering golds reflecting off the sun.”
This is a very emotional read and the main characters have to deal with a very heavy past that sits on their shoulder as a very heavy burden. It’s for everyone to see how troubled and haunted they are by their past. Their story tells the way of finding back to each other, after fourteen years of separation.
“I wanted him so badly, but sometimes it was the things we wanted the most that would destroy us in the end.”
I had really a good time reading it. But I got some trouble connecting with the characters as well as feeling their connection, chemistry and attraction. I also wished for a little more substance to some parts of this story. To the end the book got the thrill I wished for through the whole book right after it was clear that Nikki was in danger.
“The girl I’d thought the bane of my existence. The girl nothing but a tease and a taunt of what I couldn’t have. I’d just been too blind to recognize that she was my very existence.”
Don’t get my rating wrong. 3.5 stars is still a good and entertaining book to me. And I’m pretty sure, it wasn’t the last book I’ve read by A. L. Jackson.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Beautiful…
Lead Me Home
It’s so hard to put in words how amazing this story was without spoilers!
The emotional roller coaster of Ollie and Nikki’s story has my heart still aching!
A.L. Jackson really knows how to pull out every single emotion when giving life to her characters. We finally learn what happened to Ollie’s younger sister Sydney who was not only Rex’s first love but Nikki’s best friend. The back story of the small group of friends gives you more understanding of how Sydney’s disappearance affected all of them. The relationship that Ollie and Nikki had as teenagers- the life they live as adults- you can’t help to fall in love with them. The intensity of the love and feelings that Ollie denies himself due to his regrets and self punishment. Nikki’s strength and commitment to others.. Beautiful! It’s that story, actually it’s the entire series that will stay in your heart forever.
Such a beautiful read! Tissues are a requirement with this one!
Gosh!! I’ve been waiting for Ollie for so long and it feels so good to finally get both his and Nikki’s story! I really enjoyed both characters in this story- they had so much history together and both have been through hard loses, but it was great seeing the push and pull between these two. Let me just tell you- it was so much more than what AL Jackson made it out to be throughout the previous stories in this series. The story surprised me, and although I felt like the middle steered away from the story line a little, it was great to see it come together in the beginning and the end.
AL is a absolute FAVORITE! Ollie and Nicki’s story will rip your heart out and put it back together. This entire series has been brilliant and this book does not disappoint. Great story telling, great characters that will make you laugh and cry. She is just at the best at tying you up in knots before getting your HEA.
Gut wrenching. I think that is the first thing that comes to mind with this installment of this series. A.L. Jackson blew me away with this one. The raw emotions, the beautiful passion and closure all in one. Ollie intrigued me from the start of this series and his story did not disappoint. You really get to see how tortured he is from everything that happened surrounding his sister. Then you have Nikki. The girl from the past and part of his future. The push and pull these two have is heartbreaking but also so emotional. Nikki is in love with Ollie but she is tired of being hurt. Honestly cannot say I blame her. Ollie is hot and cold a lot of time. But he is so fierce when it comes to Nikki. He wants to keep her safe no matter how much it pains him. When things come to a head and secrets revealed, my heart shatters. But when everything is out on the table, the healing begins.
Overall, I think this is my favorite of the series. My heart broke, I giggled and I wanted to yell. Every range of emotion was brought out through this book. Ollie is by far my favorite. I guess I like the tortured boys. This was a beautiful culmination of the series as everything comes full circle. Bravo A.L. Jackson on another beautiful story! I cannot say how much I loved this story! Snag it up now plus the prior books. You will not be disappointed!
This is why I read romance!!! Epic love story!!!
Lead Me Home is a stunning second-chance love story that had me captivated from the very first page until long after the last page ended. AL Jackson knocked it out of the park with the final standalone novel in the Fight For Me series! One of my all-time favorite reads. Ever!
Lead Me Home is powerful, inspiring, emotionally raw, suspenseful, intense, incredibly sexy, and breathtakingly romantic. Oliver Preston (Ollie) is a broken and complex man who is incredibly sexy, loyal, and fiercely protective. The layers to this man are endless. I fell madly in love! Nikki Walters is beautiful, witty, generous & self-less. I simply adore her. They share a history and a soul – deep connection that was tragically severed 14 years ago when Ollie’s sister disappeared. Ollie is haunted by his past and has built a fortress around his heart believing he doesn’t deserve love. Nikki’s life was also irrevocably shattered and she too guards her heart. Even after all these years, that magnetic pull to one another is still forever drawn home. No matter how hard they try to deny it, the hearts wants what it wants. Searching for that missing piece to make them whole and they are powerless to stop the fall. Oh, watching these two fall was magical!
Light to his dark.
Beauty to his Beast.
Lead Me Home is a brilliantly written and powerful story of hope and forgiveness. A slow-burn, swoon-filled romance with an electrifying push and pull. I fell in love with these characters and storyline; it is beyond everything I imagined it would be. I was deeply impacted by Ollie & Nikki’s story and how they fight to live, fight for those they love and fight for each other. I could truly feel every emotion; they simply radiated from the pages. I really didn’t anticipate crying so much while reading. While my heart was shattered at times, Jackson painstakingly made me whole again; it’s worth all the pain. The heart-felt and inspirational moments are countless and made my heart soar. The unconditional love and support of family and friends was so incredibly heart-warming. Those scenes just stole my heart! Jackson has a lyrical quality to her writing that is unparalleled– you don’t simply read her novels, you experience them. With every word I was drawn further under the spell of this phenomenal story as the characters and storyline literally came to life. She is truly a master of her craft. Lead Me Home will forever leave a mark on my heart and soul. I’m truly in awe of this story and I would give it 10 stars if I could! I highly recommend reading this book as well as the other books in this series!!! After meeting Rex and Kale you’ll want to know their stories too!
Oliver Preston is a man stuck in the past. After his sister disappeared 14 years ago, he’s never been able to stop looking for her or give up hope that she might somehow be out there somewhere for him to save and protect once again as he did when they were children. He’s never been able to truly move on and he’s hurt and rejected the one person he was meant to love forever.
Nikki Walters had been best friends with Ollie and his sister Sydney since her first day of school. They were completely inseparable doing everything together. As they grew older, however, the attraction between Ollie and Nikki turns into more than friendship. The one night they decide to take their relationship further is the night that Sydney disappeared. Neither can forget and Ollie can’t forgive himself or live with the guilt of putting his needs above his sister’s that fateful night. Now, Nikki is stuck loving a man that has built a wall so high around himself that he can never love her, even if he wants to.
When trouble comes knocking at Nikki’s door, however, Ollie will stop at nothing to keep her safe . . .whether she wants his interference or not. And, the more time they spend together, the more those sparks begin flying again. Nikki is willing to give Ollie everything if he can meet her half way, but her heart can’t stand being broken or rejected by him one more time. Ollie knows he isn’t good enough for Nikki but wants her anyway But, neither could have seen what was coming their way to tear them apart forever. It’s up to Oliver to to end what was started so many years ago before Nikki pays the ultimate price.
A.L. Jackson’s Lead Me Home was an extremely powerful and emotional storyline. Guilt has eaten Ollie completely alive. He doesn’t know how to move on from what he feels is his fault and is trapped in a past that will never let him find happiness or closure. Nikki has tried to move on the best she can, but when Ollie shows up, she can’t help but to let him break her all over again . . .time after time. She’s never stopped loving him, but she needs to let go of the past so she can live, even if that means leaving him behind.
Ollie, Nikki and the rest of the characters are extremely well written. Readers can feel their guilt, sorrow and torment just dripping off of the pages. I wanted so much for the mystery of the past to be solved as well as the danger facing Nikki in the present to be ended so that both she and Ollie as well as their friends could finally get the closure they needed and the the happy ever after they deserved.
This second chance romance will have you grabbing for your tissues and sitting on the edge of your seat. It’s quite the thrill ride and will leave you breathless! 4.5 stars.
Nikki and Ollie. This was the perfect wrap up to this series. We finally learn what happened to Sydney all of those years ago and what Ollie and Nikki were to each other in the past. This was such an emotional read for me. Ollie tortures himself day in and day out with something he had no control over. He let go of the one person who he loved and mourns his sister. Ollie is protective of all of his friends and even more so of Nikki. When someone threatens Nikki, he can’t stay away from her. It was so hard watching Ollie cut himself off, when he so clearly loved Nikki so much. I felt sorry for Nikki as she lived through the heartache of loving Ollie even when he was clearly unreachable.
This book was perfectly written. Full of angst and the characters are so well developed. Once again, the kids from the other books come in and steal the show on a few occasions. We also get a chance to catch up with the whole crew and where their lives are at. That is one of my favorite things with a series. Reconnecting with the characters you love. I am sad to see this series end, but what an ending it got! Awesome read!
5 stars
How am I supposed to even start this? This is one of those books that will stay with me forever. It’s haunting, breathtaking, heartbreaking, beautiful; all of these things combined made for an incredible story of friendship and love that spans a lifetime. It takes two characters that have been devastated by the same tragedy and shows how you can either let the tragedy guide the way you live or you can take that tragedy and try to make something from it.
Ollie and Nikki. These two are bound by an unseen force. A spark of awareness that connects them in a way where it feels like a living thing. The connection only seems to intensify and become stronger the more that they’re around each other. One’s busy trying to fight and ignore it while the other is just waiting with baited breath to be able to grab hold and feed this energy. Two souls destined to be together. One fateful day that changed everything. Ollie is tortured by that day. Has been for the last 14 years. He’ll never stop searching, hoping for a miracle. Their story is anything but easy. It’s a long, stormy, twisting road with rough, jagged cliffs on either side just waiting for them to slip and fall.
These are my favorite kinds of stories to read. When the main characters are this connected to each other, fighting the pull that binds them together, and both trying to recover just enough to survive. Nikki and Ollie are both beautiful souls that deserve all the world can give them if they would allow it. A.L. Jackson weaves these stories and makes them seem effortless. She’s like a book fairy. She never fails to create a story that is full of angst and heartbreak, both of which I love, but it’s in the way that she takes those two very things and makes something beautiful grow from them. She takes the splintered pieces and makes a work of art. Every word is methodically placed to create a sense of urgency in the reader. It binds the story to our hearts, making us think of only this story and nothing else. These are the kinds of stories that I live for. They’re the ones that stay with me for months to come. I won’t be forgetting Ollie and Nikki’s story any time soon. Not with the way I was holding my breath towards the end. Not with the way the tears were streaming down my face. Not with the way I was smiling so hard that my cheeks hurt after it was all finished.
Oh my gosh, this book did things to me that had me in complete turmoil. I was grieving, I was heartbroken and in the end I was sated with this beautiful story.
Ollie and Nikki have been friends forever along with Ollie’s sister. They were inseparable and he always felt the need to protect the girls no matter what, but when something unexpected and heartbreaking happens, Ollie just loses it and disappears.
Nikki felt like Ollie was finally coming to her when he ended up at her apartment and they shared a night of passion, but it turns out that that wasn’t the case. He left and she hasn’t heard from him anymore and she vowed she was never going to think about this man ever again. But then one night he reappears in her life and is basically there to save her. He feels this sense to protect her even though she’s being stubborn and doesn’t want his protection, although she knows deep down that she needs it because she is scared of the threats she’s getting. The problem is, can they both contain their attraction, or can they actually overcome the hurdles and whatever it is that’s the cause of them not acting out their feelings?
Nikki and Ollie are definitely characters that will live with me for a long time! I absolutely loved the storyline and AL Jackson did a fabulous job writing their story.
I felt the heartache and the pain these two individuals were experiencing. I was so immersed in their story that I didn’t even realize when I came to an end and I felt like saying “NOOOOOO” I wasn’t done reading Ollie and Nikki, I wanted more!
But overall this book definitely made an impact on me because of the struggles, the heartache and the pain these characters went through and what they had to do to overcome all the pain.
5 Stars!!
This is not what I expected.. I wanted more growth from the heroine and the main conflict.. the hero felt more invested than the heroine at times, but I loved his friendship with the guys.. overall a good story
