Ollie is not the only one destroyed by the mysterious disappearance of his sister all those years ago. As much as they try to move on, it seems impossible. I seriously loved Ollie and Nikki’s story. It is written with the same lyrical style as the rest of the series. Theirs is a second, third, fourth-chance love story. They crash together and rip themselves apart as they try and deal with the heartbreak and guilt of an unimaginable tragedy. This is a beautiful story of love, hope, and forgiveness.
Lead Me Home is the last book in the Fight for Me series by the incredibly talented AL Jackson. I didn’t think it was possible for AL Jackson to become a better writer, but she blew me away with Lead Me Home. The emotions were high. The characters outstanding and the story was perfection. I had all the feels. I smiled, laughed, cried, cringed, swooned and had to fan myself. We’ve known these characters for a while now and they seem like family. I knew that Ollie and Nikki’s story was going to be something else. There was always a hint at a shared past. Always a glimpse that something else was going on behind their eyes. Their stares. Their stolen looks. We get to see it all. Feel it all. Share it all. There was so much feeling happening between Ollie and Nikki that I was sweating while I read it! I was yelling and cheering and hooked on their story and didn’t want it to end. I can’t go in to too much detail without giving the story away. Just know this. It’s everything you want it to be and more. Ollie is my favorite character of the series with his brooding looks, broken heart and chance for redemption. AL Jackson broke my heart and put it back together again like she always does. But somehow this one meant more. Felt like more. I was still thinking about them long after I had finished the book. That’s the perfect book to me!
“Bossy.”
“You have no idea.”
“Why do I get the feeling you’re going to take all kinds of pleasure in educating me on that fact?
“Maybe you do have an idea.”
“One look, and I was yours.”
“One touch, and you owned my soul.”
Even though we were in Alabama, we definitely didn’t need any babies hanging out in the bar.
Lead Me Home has got to be the most beautiful book I have ever read. I’m so damn in love with this book! It bought out so many raw emotions in me. Each page is filled with masterfully put together words. You feel all the heartache. You feel all the pain Ollie is in. You feel all the love between Ollie and Nikki.
Lead Me Home in my personal opinion is in a class all its own.
A.L. Jackson has brought me to my knees. I knew Lead Me Home would somehow obliterate me, knowing full well that Oliver Preston’s story was going to be rough. The journey we have all been nervously anticipating after reading both Show Me the Way and Follow Me Back. The final chapter in the lives of three lifelong friends who are the very definition of unconditional love. It is beyond epic. It is without a doubt, perfection.
This book. This beautifully heartbreaking and incredible book. I was both hesitant and anxious as I dove head first into the life that is Ollie. The pain he continues to suffer as the status of his missing sister, who disappeared 14 years prior, remains a mystery. The way he turns away Nikki Walters, his fragile connection to the life he once savored as the 3rd part to the trio that was his former happy. Oh my goodness. How much I wanted to both soothe Ollie and knock some sense into him as he repeatedly tried to throw everything away, living in some sort of forever limbo, never knowing the truth or accepting that perhaps it wasn’t his fault his sister never came home.
Talk about the most agonizing of lives. As much I wanted to turn away, I just couldn’t. I wouldn’t miss Ollie’s overbearing side, as he wants to so desperately keep everyone he holds dear safe. I wouldn’t miss Nikki and her light, her everlasting need to lift those around up to the highest point they could reach. And I certainly wouldn’t miss the painstaking journey to absolution, to forgiveness and to the most wonderful kind of forever love.
I am in awe of this author. This book is never easy. This isn’t the simple tale of a couple making a few mistakes before they find their way to each other. What we get with Lead Me Home is the gut-wrenching journey of two people who need so much more than just a path back to one another. A much-needed cleansing of the soul is what is presented so damn brilliantly as both Ollie and Nikki’s POVs together with perfectly placed glimpses into the past show us just what they have endured for way too many years.
With the support of the entire Gingham Lakes crew, I guess I had to know that somehow it would all turn out ok for the Beast and his Sunshine. Many long-held secrets are finally set free as the last remnants of this mystery come to light. With Rex and Kale in particular always by Ollie’s side, I couldn’t help but fall harder for these sexy and loving men. I think it’s the friendships that make this and the prior two books stand out for me. That kind of loyalty is rare and these characters know it.
Lead Me Home is a special kind of love story. I felt a bit beaten up as the angst level was through the roof more times than not. But to say it is worth all the agony in the end is an understatement. This is writing that is on a level so far above the usual I couldn’t turn away if I tried. And I never will.
Read this book and savor every single word. It is beyond superb.
5 dragonfly stars!
I feel like no matter how I put my feelings about this book into this review, it won’t do the story justice, it’s just that amazing!!! Ahhh…..Ollie, my lord I fell in love with this man. We’ve gotten pieces of Ollie in the first two books, but this is his story, and Nikki’s. We have these two beautiful and tortured souls, friends for a lifetime, each with a piece of their hearts irrevocably broken from a tragedy that occurred more than a decade ago. Oliver “Ollie” Preston, has been in love with Nikki Walters his entire life, from the time he was a young boy, he knew Nikki was special, they we’re part of the trio that included Ollie’s sister Sydney. Ollie was fiercely protective of his sister Sydney, knowing from an early age he was to take care of her….always!! But when Sydney disappears Ollie retreats into himself, taking the blame for what happened that fateful day. He’s become broken and bitter over the years, and has leaned on his small circle of friends to get thru, and one of those friends is Nikki. Her love for Ollie is unwavering, but she’s been hurt by Ollie in the past, knowing he will never open his heart to her, they are on opposite ends of the spectrum!! So she finds it unnerving that he’s always there trying to protect her, and when circumstances occur that put her in danger Ollie is there front and center. Nikki fights to keep her independence, but Ollie is having none of that, he’s going to protect her no matter what!!! As usual Al Jackson gives us all of her heart and soul with this story. It’s emotional, raw, heartbreaking, and painful at times to get thru, but she always gives us glimpses of hope, that these two shattered souls will find their way back to each other, all the while coming to terms with their pasts , and finally getting answers to that fateful day that changed all their lives forever. This is absolutely my favorite book, of the Fight For Me series, and one of the best books of 2018!! I highly recommend reading the first two so you can get to know all of these beloved characters!! You’ll be so glad you did!!! (
There is no way possible I can write a review that will do justice in how much I loved Lead Me Home. AL Jackson has once again written a masterpiece. This is Ollie’s story. It is also Nikki’s story. Ollie and Nikki were best friends, along with his sister Sydney, for most of their lives. They did everything together, they even took a blood oath “we are three. forever and ever. you and me”. Until one fateful night when everything changed, Sydney went missing. Ollie has lived with such guilt and regrets in the 14 years that have gone by. One of his biggest regrets? Pushing Nikki away in the aftermath of Sydney’s disappearance. This author has such a way of writing that at times I really felt how these characters were feeling, she had me crying a few times. It wasn’t all tears though. Mixed throughout were fun, happy times that had me laughing and some seriously hot AF sexy times. I can’t recommend this book enough!!
Wow! Lead Me Home was full of emotion just like all of A.L. Jackson’s books, but it was so much more than I expected. This was the 3rd stand alone in the Fight for me series. Oliver and Nikki have been background characters in the other 2 books. Their story went far deeper than I thought it would. Oliver has been fighting his love for Nikki for so long. They both want to be together, but a tragedy from their past makes his guilt too great to let himself find happiness. The push and pull they have with one another is enough to drive them both crazy. Unavoidable revelations finally bring them together for a future they had always dreamed of. This was my favorite book in the series!
Lead Me Home is the third and final book in the Fight for Me Series and Al Jackson ended it off with a bang. I really enjoyed the other two books in this series and I was anxiously waiting Ollie and Nikki’s story but OMG I really did not expect this.
Heart-wrenching, gripping, and and highly engrossing, this novel was packed full of emotions from beginning to end, but the story itself took a twist I really did not see coming and it shocked the life out of me.
The story was told in dual point of view and we are given glimpses of the past which helps to tie the entire series together and we learn so much about Sydney in this book. The tightly knitted group of friends were all present in the novel and they all provided support and balance to the main characters.
While this was a romance and we get lots of steamy scenes and chemistry between the two main characters, there was also some angst and suspense included.
Although part of a series, Lead Me Home could be read as a standalone. It was a phenomenal read and the perfect ending to the series. I loved it and would highly recommend it.
Ollie is a beautifully broken man who thinks he doesn’t deserve love. Nikki has always loved Ollie and has been waiting for him to realize that he is worth the fight.
This is the most suspenseful heartbreaking and emotional book I’ve read. If you like big burly men with hearts of gold. You’ll fall deeply in love with the beautiful beast that is Ollie and Nikki his sunshine.
Once again Amy gives us another suck you in and tear at your heart kind of book. Only the beat kind 🙂
Get sucked in to Ollie and Nikki’s story. How first time loves still have a hold on your heart and never let go. Tragedy tore them apart but you can only fight it for so long. The heart knows what it wants.
Ollie’s is a fiercely protective man after all he has lost. He feels like he doesn’t deserve happiness. Nikki has loved him all her life. But he tries to keep it strictly as friends. He doesn’t want anyone too close. Once the walls are being chipped away, you can’t help the fire between the two.
Loved, loved, loved this story
Ollie and Nikki’s story is one that I was anticipating and couldn’t wait to read. It was worth every second of the wait. Their story was not an easy story to read. It was filled with so much pain and heartbreak from their tragic past. I cried many tears reading this book, but from that pain and heartbreak there is so much love and beauty. Lead Me Home was about love, friendship bonds, healing and forgiving yourself. A.L. Jackson did an amazing job bringing closure and answering all the unanswered questions in the Fight for Me Series in Lead Me Home. This was a perfect ending to an amazing series! Beyond 5 stars!!
4.5 “Fly” Stars
Ollie is *sigh* I love him! Lead Me Home is my favorite book in this series. I’ve been waiting for this story since the very beginning. It’s poetic, emotional and heartrending. Ollie and Nikki have years of heartbreak and strife between them and yet no matter what separates them – an intangible thread ties them together. And when Nikki needs Ollie, he’s there and he’s not going anywhere. If only his heart would let her in.
Nikki is the life of the party. Ollie is the dependable big brute. They have the same circle of friends and yet there is an ocean that separates these two former best friends. When Ollie’s sister disappeared over a decade ago, everything they thought they knew was broken. Now that Nikki needs somwhere to stay, Ollie knows there is nowhere else for her but in his home. As they spend time together, the thread that binds them pulls tighter and tighter until neither can deny it. If only they’re brave enough to accept the past and be open to the future.
This story opened Ollie and Nikki not only to each other but to the reader. There was so much hurt, loneliness and depth to be explored and when all was revealed my heart was both broken and mended as these two who were obviously meant to be found their way back to one another.
