Can a fling with the world’s hottest rock star become real love?I took a few days to search my soul and, in the process, I found him.Chance Santos. He’s charming. Drop dead gorgeous. In his arms, I’m rediscovering who I am. And who I want to be.We’re a fleeting moment in time. An erotic madness. He’s much too young. Too spontaneous. The opposite of everything that I thought was right for me.He’s … everything that I thought was right for me.
He’s also everything I never knew my heart craved.
Logic screams for me to walk away.
But I can’t.
Is one amazing weekend enough for forever?

I found this book in Kindle Unlimited and had to read it. Layla is a Chicago lawyer who has dedicated her life to her career. Anticipating being made partner, she is stunned to learn in a meeting – on her 40th birthday – that the younger associate she had been mentoring was promoted to partner instead. Needing some time away to recoup and do some soul searching, she flies to Martha’s Vineyard for the weekend. She goes out to a local club and meets Chance. He is 13 years younger but she is trying to be spontaneous and embrace life, at least for the weekend. One night turns into a weekend, which then turns into a sort of existential crisis for Layla. She’s been trying to fit into a single, professional box her whole life and was a slave to the “should be” instead of who she was and what she wanted. Chance helps her to open up to following her heart, in many aspects of her life.
I enjoyed this book a lot. It seemed short, but then again any book is too short if I love the characters. Layla and Chase moved quickly, but this wasn’t exactly an instalove book either. Layla wanted – and needed – to take the time to figure herself out before jumping into a relationship, especially with a famous musician. Chase may be 27 but he isn’t a wild, partying rock star. He is actually quite reserved and grounded. He and Layla have an incredible bond. And the epilogues are beautiful.
I’m definitely not a huge fan of older women/younger man romances but after reading it I no longer cared about the ages of the characters. I enjoyed this book so much! The characters were amazingly developed and were so hot together. I can’t wait to read more from Mika!
Oh my goodness, I loved this story so much. I don’t generally read short stories, as I often find the plots are not developed enough for my personal taste but the blurb intrigued me and so I downloaded it. Let me tell you, that was a great decision. A short story it may be, but in my opinion it reads like a full length book. I’m writing this review with a silly, contented smile on my face, just thinking about these characters.
Having had her plans for her career unexpectedly derailed, Layla decides to fly to Martha’s Vineyard to do some soul searching. Once there, she quite literally bumps into Chance, a gorgeous and, as she later discovers, amazingly talented (in more ways than one), well established, rock star. Despite his fame, Chance is a down to earth guy. There’s no posturing and arrogance on his behalf, just a cheeky confidence that made him completely endearing, not to mention oh so sexy. Insta love is too trivial a phrase to describe their connection. Yes, their relationship develops quickly but this author does a great job of making sure it doesn’t feel false or forced, or too much too soon. It feels genuine and I absolutely loved it. Despite, or maybe because of, their age difference, these actions of these characters go to show that age really is just a number.
Is it possible to be jealous of a fictional character? By the end of this book, I wanted to be Layla. I wanted to swap places with her and skip off into the breathtaking Menemsha sunset with Chance. If you’re looking for drama, you won’t find it here. What you will find is a beautiful story, well developed characters, amazing steamy and sensual moments and a new swoon-worthy book boyfriend. Oh, and did I tell you I loved it? I’m confident you will too.
O my god what an amazing story.
What fascinated me the most was that Chance was sure of himself. He felt something for Layla and didn’t want to let go of her. There wasn’t any beating around the bush, he was straightforward and honest.
While Layla was scared and her heart wasn’t approachable. I get it, she had her reasons. That is why I am glad that Chance really was into her and gave her a chance to think it through and didn’t push her for her decision.
Loved this book very much! I really love the double meaning of the tittle.
Wowza! This was a quick but SE-XY read (still fanning myself) wink wink!
Our heroine, Layla just experienced a huge disappointment professionally, so she decides to get away for the weekend at Martha’s Vineyard. it is her 40th birthday and she isn’t loving her life as a lawyer. She decides to figure out her purpose and what she needs to do to reinvent herself.
Enter Chance (hubba hubba). We get a younger, hot musician. He knows how to keep everything spicy and he’s instantly attracted to Layla. They are spicy together. Love it. Chance’s backstory is interesting and I love the unique family he comes from.
This was a wonderful evening read… Happy Reading Everyone!
Layla’s come to Martha’s Vineyard in search of something. And then she meets a hot younger guy when they run into each other on the street. Can Layla possibly start something with a younger man, a rockstar no less?
I really liked Layla’s Chance. It’s super sexy, emotionally substantial, and has a great cast of wonderful characters. Normally I’m not into age gap romances where the woman is older than the man, not even really into age gaps where the man is older, either. But for some reason it didn’t bother me here. I guess because I liked both Layla and Chance so much, and they seemed equals despite their age difference. Layla is a very substantial character, one with heart and intelligence and very realistic thoughts and emotions and behavior. She and Chance are actually perfect for each other despite their outward differences.
This is an older women younger man book. He’s not any younger man but a rockstar. Really this book is about so much more than that. I was immediately drawn into the main characters. I don’t want to give away too much of the plot but Layla is a lawyer and when she is passed over for her younger protégée she decides to take a much needed trip to Martha’s Vineyard for her birthday where a chance meeting puts her being literally knocked down by Chance. I received a Arc copy of this book and am volunteering to leave a review.
I really liked this older woman/younger man story. I myself am 3 years older than my husband,so I can see where she is coming from . Layla thought she was getting the awaited promotion, but instead is overlooked and the promotion is given to one of her much younger colleagues.
She decides then and there to get away. She ends up at Martha’s vineyard. Where she meets a handsome stranger that everyone knows who he is but her. Layla feels the pull towards this handsome younger man Chance.
To figure out what happens next, you have to read the book for yourself…
I read an arc of this book voluntarily.
This was a book that was well worth the read with the great character and storyline development! Layla and Chance was very likable, believable and engaging which kept me turning the pages until the very end!
Layla’s Chance by Mika Jolie
Layla is a dedicated attorney who has forsaken much of a social life in pursuit of making partner in her law firm only to be passed over for a younger colleague on her fortieth birthday. Deciding to lick her wounds in private, Layla goes away for the weekend to Martha’s Vineyard to reflect and regroup never expecting her life to be further turned upside down when she meets Chance.
Layla and Chance have instant chemistry which Layla questions and fights, having been hurt so many times in past and not looking for love or further heartache. Layla also questions the validity of a relationship with a younger man as Chance is 27 which is further complicated by the fact when Layla learns he is a rock star.
Layla lives in her head carrying the burdens of shame and judgment from her past while Chance lives more in the moment and is a great balance for Layla. Unlike what you might expect, Chance is unassuming and not hedonistic and is grounded in well-intentioned values that are exactly what Layla needs.
Mika Jolie’s rendering of this story goes well beyond what you might expect from a May-December romance or even that of a rock star as there is such rich depth to this story. I so enjoyed every moment and couldn’t put it down!

I really enjoyed this older womam/ younger man romance. This novella had two character that had a lot of chemistry going. I loved Chance and the way his eccentric family taught him to love anyone he wanted to. Layla had a lot of insecurities to overcome. She was looking to find herself and her happy…and found Chance in the process. Really really loved the bonus scenes!!!!

Omg what a sweet story Layla bumps into hottie chance on her birthday and decides why not but he wants more than a one night stand and she’s nervous bc of their age difference
Layla’s Chance it’s a sweet novella about finding true love when you least expect it. Layla is coasting through life content with being content. Quick, Hot, Sexy, novella.
Makes me want to run away from life and fall into the bed of a sexy rockstar. But at 42 with 4 kids that will never happen, luckily we get to read and fantasize about it through Layla.
The book title is spot on. I’m not an insta-love fan, but this one worked.
I need to look into if Jackson or Adam/Chris has a book. I’d love to see more Layla and Chance.
