People always say it’s what’s on the inside that matters. If that’s the case, I’m screwed. On the outside, everything looks put together — blonde hair, blue eyes, tall and lean. By society’s standards, I’d be considered attractive. But f*ck society, I know what I am. I know what I’m made of. The recessive genes that reared their heads and created a decent looking package on the outside don’t make … make me who I am. What about all the evil lurking inside? What about all the other parts of me that aren’t so easy to see? Some of the most beautiful animals are also the deadliest. Take the polar bear, for example. Cute and cuddly on the outside, but it’s really a predator that will bite your f*cking head off. That’s a dangerous combination.
And that’s exactly like me, exactly who I am. Bad — and once you go bad, you can never go back.
WARNING: This book deals with the harsh reality of rape that could be upsetting for some readers.

She will change everything.
Yes that’s right……This is Stone and Campbell’s story.
Guys I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It wasn’t what I expected at all and it through me for a loop. The subject matter was quite confronting, but I was glad the author took us there because sometimes that darkest of subjects need a voice and that is exactly what Prescott Lane did. It was a little hard to read at times, but I am glad I pushed through.
Overall a great novel that I recommend.

I didn’t know what to expect when I chose to read Layers of Her, I just knew that I had to read it because Prescott Lane wrote it. I will be honest and say I was quite nervous about reading this book, given the topic. And after reading the letter to the readers from the author, I thought this story was going to be different.
This book went in a different direction then I thought it would, but I will agree with the author, this book could be a trigger for someone who has trouble with the topic of rape/sexual assault. I will say that Prescott did a great job writing this book. She wrote about a topic that is not usually talked about freely and usual shoved under the rug. She handled this situation with tact and decorum. If you are a reader who has some trouble when reading about sexual assault, I will say that she did this book justice in the fact that nothing is graphically described. I will also say that the actual assault in this story is really a small factor in this book, she doesn’t describe the event at all. What this book touches on is the after effects of an assault and how it effects everyone, from the victim and those around the victim.
I really don’t want to say much more about the storyline, because I don’t want to spoil anything. I just felt that what I wrote above, the reader needs to know going into the book. Everything else I believe the reader needs to discover on their own.
Layers of Her is truly a story of forgiveness, love and healing. In this story we follow the path to forgiveness for Campbell. Campbell was a different heroine than I have read before. I can’t explain why because that is a spoiler, but she was a strong person, but also so very broken. She truly believed that she didn’t deserve to be loved and that she was bad and dark on the inside. That is until she meets Stone and he shows her that she is worth loving and that your past doesn’t define the person you are today. Campbell and Stone’s relationship is of the insta- love variety. They moved pretty quickly in this book, but for some reason it worked in this instance. I loved Stone!!! He was so patient and understanding. He truly is the epitome of a Book Boyfriend.
This story showed that there truly are many layers to people and that if you find the right person, they will love all the layers unconditionally.
I would recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a quick read, but filled with a lot of emotions. If you don’t mind a book that covers some serious topics, then this is a book I think people should read. I truly believe it will give many readers an insight to what a victim of sexual assault and those who love them go through.
You know when you read a book so amazing you just want to shout to everyone that they need to read it? But then at the same time, you just want to keep it to yourself so you can be a greedy #BookWhore and have them all to yourself?
Well that’s what Layers of Her did for me.
I finished the book and instantly opened Facebook and got ready to gush about how much this book touched me.
I mean come on, Stone and Campbell are fucking amazing.
I ended up closing Facebook without posting, and snuggled deep in my own little bubble that I didn’t have to share these guy, well for a minute anyway lol
This is my first Prescott Lane story, and wow what a way to meet a new author.
I’ll be honest, I picked up with book because of Prescott’s letter to the readers. (Which you can check out here! )
Being a rape survivor myself, these types of books are hit or miss with me and 9 times out of 10 I am left feeling annoyed because the author got it so wrong.
That didn’t happen here. Prescott didn’t go into details of the actual event but more on how one survives the aftermath.
Campbell is . . . . I went to say broken, but really, she’s not. She’s more a little damaged from the past, but not exactly her past.
She is so intent on revenge to “make things right” that she ends up missing out on actually living. That is until Stone.
Mmm Stone Delhomme. . . . *insert drooling face*
Sexy, manly, rough around the edges, MMA Fighter turned gym owner, single (perfect) Daddy!
*Collect your ovaries ladies, especially you, Phyl! I’ve already laid claims on him. I told you I’m a #GreedyWhore *
When Campbell walks into Stone’s gym, he knows she is different from the others he fucks around with. She’s not the one night stands he keeps away from his daughter. Campbell is the one he wants in Tate’s life.
The nurse is gorgeous, petite, kind, sweet and loving but Stone knows behind all that is a guarded force to be reckoned with.
When he finds a gun in her bag he makes it his business to protect her, even if he doesn’t know what from.
This isn’t just a story about revenge or two people falling in love in the most perfect of times. Its about healing. Forgiving. Loving. Living. For them both.
Prescott’s writing is incredible and she takes you on whirlwind of emotions while telling Stone and Campbell’s story from past to present. While this is only 150ish pages, it is jam packed with the right amount of everything. That is not to say that I don’t want more. Seriously Prescott (bahaha like she is going to actually see this, but hey just in case) Please do a book 2! I am dying to know more about this little family, and Jade too of course.
I won’t go too deep into the story line as it will give too much away, and no one wants that. So lets just say, go #OneClick, get some tissues, snacks and be ready for a #KnockYouOnYourAss kind of story. You will Not be disappointed.
Oh and when you are finished, go beg Prescott for more for me!
Bravo! This is truly a touching story of love, healing, and self forgiveness!
Heart wrenching, and poignant story of Campbell, the product of a horrific secret. This read had a little bit of everything, as Campbell meets sexy MMA fighter and self defense teacher Stone, so that the story is full of angst and budding romance. As their romance develops, Campbell emotional state takes a tumble as feelings she suppressed are awaken. Will love override the hatred she’s been filled with? Her journey is so worth the read.
