A very well-crafted and well-written thriller with a highly unusual plot and cast of characters. The reveal at the end was a kicker but not wholly out of the blue if you’re a careful reader and have picked up subtle clues and threads. Well worth reading!
This was a great book, with an original theme, puzzling characters and superb storytelling! The psychological suspense was delicious and held my intrigue to the end. You know something is off from the beginning when the release of a convicted murderer who was unjustly sent to prison by the protagonist becomes apparent. This is a woman with a past. She fled Africa with her father when she was a teenager, witnessed a murder and put a man behind bars, and now lives a somewhat sheltered yet privileged life. But now it appears her past is haunting her. This is one of those books that I could easily read again in the future.
Ending was a real surprise!
Very good story, but repetitive and boring in some places.
Very sad in a way because a young girl’s life was lived poorly because she mad some really bad decisions.
The ending was a shock. Really disliked the main character but it made for an interesting read
This book was easy to read and well written with a good plot and good characters.
I didn’t think much of this book. it was very disappointing in fact. We go almost to the end of the book without knowing a very important fact and then suddenly it’s dumped upon us with a brief explanation. The main character is shallow and wicked. I couldn’t wait to get to the end – certainly not because it was suspenseful, but because it was past time for it to end!
Original writing and story telling. Even hearing the story from the main character’s point of view did not endear me to her. She was somehow both naïve and cold. The book left me feeling disappointed, but it was so well written and the story came to its natural conclusion. I just wished I had liked some of the characters.
It has been a long time since I have read a book so unpredictable. Reminiscent of mysteries of long ago. I throughly enjoyed it.
This was ok & kept me guessing but the main character wasn’t very likeable.
Was a little drawn-out for me
I’m not sure why I can’t give this more than 2 stars. From the beginning, I just couldn’t like the main characters, although I did read it to the end. It was unusual in some ways, but just not my cuppa tea.
Kind of tough to slog through. By the time you get to the end, all you are is grateful you’re done.
I love this series and this one didn’t disappoint. Couldn’t put it down!
This book had a surprise ending, but it was painful to get to it. I thought it would never end. I gave it two stars only because I was able to finish it.
