William Cook enjoyed serving the town as a lawman until a tragic accident took everything he loved. Wanting to leave his past behind, he turns to bounty hunting, enjoying the constant distraction—and the money isn’t too bad either. When he suffers a life-threatening injury, he is forced to stay put for longer than he is used to doing. The woman who tends his wounds intrigues him, but he isn’t … looking for love after what happened the first time.
Emma Stewart recently lost her husband and has moved back in with her widowed father, the town doctor. While she likes helping him heal the sick, she still longs for a family of her own, so no one is more surprised than she is when she starts to develop feeling for the bounty hunter, who hides his heart of gold behind a rugged exterior.
Can Emma offer William a reason to stay? Can William find a way to heal from his broken past to start a future with Emma? Or will a haunting secret take away all the possibilities of this budding romance?

This book was so sweet – and the characters were so relatable.
This is a beautifully written historical romance! I highly recommend adding it to your MUST read book list!
Lawfully Justified is a fun and sweet story by Lorana Hoopes. I liked getting to know both Emma and William, and how they’d start to open up to the idea of love again, especially after they’ve both lost their respective spouses. The side characters are great and made for some interesting, fun, and even wise conversations. But what ultimately made me love this book was the message delivered by the pastor. It was convicting and helpful.
As for the narrator, I think he did a good job with most of the voices, differentiating them, though it was a bit hard for me to tell apart Emma’s younger siblings (Jenny and Benjamin). Also, some of the female voices didn’t do it for me since they sounded too much like a man trying to do a woman’s impression, but I guess that I ended up getting used to it.
Overall, this is a book and an author I’d definitely recommend and read more of. ~ 4 stars
Lawfully Justified: Christian Romance Historical (A Bounty Hunter Lawkeeper Romance) was another great read by Lorana Hoopes. William wanted to be a lawman until a tragic accident took everything he loved. He becomes a bounty hunter and suffers a life-threatening injury. Emma tends to his wounds while helping her father, in town doctor. I really enjoyed reading Will and Emma’s story and can’t wait to read more by Lorana Hoopes.
I received a free copy of the audible version of this book. I enjoyed the story very much. Mr. Doolittle does a great job changing his voice to fit the different characters. The story is excellent about William & Emma needing forgiveness after tragedy in their lives.
This was a second chance at love historical western romance. Emma and William’s spouses were both killed by criminals. Even though she’s attracted to him, she’s reluctant to act on it because like her husband he works at lawman job and she fears losing another loved one to that life. Her ex Carl keeps coming around and while he would be safe choice, he’s not the one her heart wants. When William discovers how her husband died, he feels guilty. Can they get past this to be together? There was plenty of suspense with bad guys to catch and injuries to recover from and sweet romance.
I listened to the Audible version and the narrator had a soothing tone with voice changes for the different characters. I tried speeding it up, but that made his speech too fast.
I found myself enjoying this book very much. Again, a believable storyline for the time period. I loved that characters weren’t afraid to let their faith show and that William was able to mend his relationship with God. I really loved Jenny in this story, such faith and wisdom for a young child… but I guess those living in that time period grew up quickly.
What will happen when Emma discovers that Williams is responsible for her husbands dead? Can they still find the way to each other? And will William find the way to God back?
I really enjoyed this story, not just the main characters but all the family members are fun. Can’t wait to read more about Sage Creek.
Lawfully Justified by Lorana Hoopes is a great inspirational historic romance in the Lawmaker series. Lorana Hoopes and several other authors have created a marvelous premise for a series. William is a widower and a bounty hunter who takes a bullet in his line of work. He is nursed back to health (sort of) by the daughter of the local doctor. Emma is a widow and has moved back home to help care for her siblings. Is this a match made in heaven? Can they open up their hearts and love again?
This book is well written, has a great plot and characters. In addition, it provides a theme that is very calming and provides inspirational thoughts. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
I received this book as a gift and I always review every book that I read.
Lawfully Justified is another wonderful book by Lorana Hoopes. Bill, an injured bounty hunter, and Emma, a widowed doctor’s daughter are both portrayed so vividly and realistically. There are many plot twists in this Christian second chance love story. I enjoyed every minute of reading this tale – and got nothing else done until I finished the story. I highly recommend this book – and the others in the series.
This is a sweet story about second and third chances! God’s not done yet! There’s more to their story and yours! Even 6 yr old Jennie can tell you that!
