She’s a piano teacher who will stop at nothing to help her students. He’s a retired cop who will give his all to pay back a debt. A marriage of convenience offers them a chance to redeem the past and heal their future. The last thing Natasha Livingston expects to find on her doorstep is a threatening letter. As a precaution, her billionaire uncle insists on hiring a bodyguard for her—a hunk of a … bodyguard for her—a hunk of a man who happens to be her ex-boyfriend. Now, not only is her life at risk, but her heart as well, especially when their business arrangement takes a personal turn.
Guilt drove Victor Price to leave the police force and his old girlfriend behind years ago. With a stalker on the loose, he has no choice but to step in and protect her. It’s a small price to pay when her brother, his old partner, gave up his life to save his. What he didn’t plan on was marrying the woman who still has a hold on his heart.
It’s only a matter of time before danger catches up with them or they end up falling in love again.

A fun second chance romance/marriage of convenience/romantic suspense. I love that Natasha and Victor got a second chance. It was obvious from the start they were great together. Even with the underlying suspense there was also plenty of funny moments. I love Victor’s middle name and laughed out loud when I read it and had to share with my family. With this being Ms. Ho’s first time writing a suspense, she did a good job.
This story had the right amount of suspense and a romance once lost but found again. Victors flaws were realistic and the pain and joy between Victor and Natasha was believable. An overall great story. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
This is not the typical romance story. Natasha & Victor have known each other for a long time. Victory carries guilt over her brother’s death & a promise to protect her from a stalker. She has to fulfill a promise to get her inheritance. What pursues is not the typical romance. You have to read this book to find out what I mean. It’s good, however.
I loved this book SO much!!!
This was a great story with great characters. Natasha has a heart of gold and wants to help the kids at the center she volunteers at. The only way she can do that is to come up with a lot of money and fast. Natasha has access to get the money, but she has to get married to get it. She had received a threatening note in the morning, but thought nothing of it initially. Her uncle received threats as well and hired a bodyguard for his niece. The bodyguard happens to be Natasha’s secret ex-boyfriend, Victor. I enjoyed the push and pull that happened between the couple. Victor is running from his past and is having a hard time letting go and moving on. Victor agrees to help out Natasha. Their marriage of convenience was filled with chemistry. I liked how they navigated their relationship while trying to keep safe from the those that are trying to harm Natasha. I recommend to those that love a little action in their sweet romance.
Victor promised Natasha’s brother and his former partner with the police force, Nick that he would look out for her, so he jumps at a job that will allow him to protect her after she receives threatening notes. They used to secretly date until Nick found out and died in the line of duty. Victor blamed himself for Nick’s death and hasn’t seen much of her since. Natasha needs to be able to access her trust fund in order to save the rec center she loves and in order to do that she needs to marry. She asks Victor to marry her in return for money. He agrees thinking it will be temporary. But old feelings resurface and they can’t fight the attraction. Victor fears it will affect his ability to protect Natasha especially when she doesn’t take the threats against her seriously. This was a sweet second chance marriage of convenience romance with plenty of funny, cute, and suspenseful moments. The kids at the rec center were adorable and they certainly got a kick out of Victor’s middle name.
A romantic suspense that keeps you reading until the very end. Will Natasha and Victor get a second chance at love? It amazes me how guilt can keep us in bondage. Forgiveness is the key to freedom. Loved the ending.
This book is a very sweet but also has action and suspense. I really enjoyed the fact that they dated before and have so much history together. They have a great banter that brings humor to the story. The “secret” about what her brother told Victor told her towards the end of the story was heartwarming. An entertaining and enjoyable story.
If you enjoy books about stunningly beautiful heroines, rugged, manly heroes, lots of money (like billionaires), but still like a clean, sweet love story, then you will definitely go for Liwen Ho’s new book! There’s also a marriage of convenience, plus some suspense about who the bad guy is. I enjoyed the setting (San Francisco – I grew up in the Bay Area), and the fact that Ho focuses on the “real” people underneath the glamor, glitz and money.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a great book! Because he blames himself for his partner’s death, he cannot let himself love the sister of his partner. But, he has to guard her and keep her safe and in doing so he falls in love with her all over again. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a little mystery with their romance.
Another fun, sweet romance by Liwen Ho that you can read in one sitting! And with a twist of suspense to boot! This book has everything the author is known for – easy to read writing style, a well-paced plot, lovable and endearing characters, and a nice faith thread. If you enjoy a well-written contemporary romance, you will definitely enjoy this book.
Victor is an ex-cop who continues to suffer greatly after his partner is killed in line of duty. Natasha is a sweet, joyful, optimistic piano teacher who is Victor’s ex-girlfriend and also the sister of the partner who died. Circumstances bring them together as Victor works hard to keep Natasha safe, but old feelings resurface and Victor needs to learn to forgive himself and grab onto joy that God has brought into his life.
I received a copy of the book from the author and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
Lawfully Cherished is Ms. Ho’s first romantic suspense, and yet it promises to give you all the feels! (Can you tell I enjoyed it very much? ) The suspense, the adrenaline-pumping moments, as well as the swoon-worthy ones will take you from experiencing one high to another in this smooth, though albeit short, ride.
I loved the fact that this novella blends both a second chance romance with a marriage of convenience #favtrope so, for me, it was a winning combination and one which the author pulled off really well. And of course, I loved getting to know both Natasha and Victor (they are just so cute! *le dreamy sigh*)
All in all, a delightful new read by Ms. Ho as part of the Lawkeepers series. Completely recommended, and I just can’t wait for her next romantic suspense!
